  1. so you have power in the car? Ie lights work, clock works?
  2. probably (though slightly nuts may be a better description). last car I rebuilt I spent more on for the base and spent a LOT more time/money on doing what it needed done. thought I would start cheaper this time and totally rebuild one. the sill shots are 4 pieces of metal totalling about $1k. those will fix all of that mess pictured. the rest is fine. considering the car sat outside in someones front yard for 8 months I was prepared for a worse outcome. all worked out ok and some of the stuff I haev sold off of the car has went back into other aspects of it. minor update from the land that never sleeps (japan) - I have a 09/97 4wd RB25DET with 100K on it heading this direction. due end of january I'm told (its sitting in a mates yard in osaka.). that will need a tidyup before It goes in but at least I have one now rather than scouring the countryside for a broken one...
  3. realistically I could have sourced it ex nagoya but by the time I did it for a saving of $50 it was easier to source local. I deal a fair it with japan nowadays but freight on an item that size is a killer.
  4. indeed. . call me - easier. have your wallet out.
  5. what are you trying to achieve?
  6. passenger side inner sill panel - this is a byproduct of a 50mm crush from a hoist. outside passenger sill. 50mm crush. better shot. if you have ANYTHING like this on your car look at the inside behind the carpet. it was the first thing i did when i bought this car. drivers side. 75mm crush. this was actually hidden by a side skirt. the resulting damage on the inside is far worse as it has also moved the floor up 25mm.. another shot. drivers rear - this one actaully broke the seam. inside drivers sill. bear in mind ALL of that is coming OUT and being replaced with NEW parts.
  7. yep. already have the 'before' shots including the rust spots.
  8. yep repair parts on these are not exactly cheap. the ones under the car are similar in price but there are a lot more bits to those.
  9. yep. I gave them the part number fast spat out and it came back not available for mine. I'm going to try another chassis number. I ordered a NEW GTR front bumper this morning as well. given the second hand prices on this forum and what some of the parts guys want for them I figured new was a btter option. as such I'm starting at the front of this car and working back same as the parts book does.
  10. *may* be able to get away with a N15 pulsar item - pull yours and check the part numbers. only limiting thng will be the rear wiper. if you find a wagon then you are laughing.
  11. $578. - just ordered one.
  12. yep thats correct. shame you do not have the 'correct' plugs that would make life a bit easier.
  13. call nissan on part number 62022-05U27 that is the cover with mounting hardware
  14. locally new that bar is $550. bear that in mind.
  15. true but thanks to those that are restoring GTRs it makes my parts a bit easier to get as nissan are still making them and as long as people are buying parts I can get what I need
  16. controller - passenger side behind the strut tower.
  17. if hes talking sill panels - no its not. the sills are $1k outright as I have literally JUST done it. then you pay someone to cut/refit/paint the things. if its the rear subframe then thats another story as thats part of the rear floor (I'm assuming yours is a 2 door.) and that gets nasty as the whole car has to come apart for that. got pix?
  18. quite simple . follow the two coloured wires back to where they were cut the bulb already has power.
  19. have you been talking to me? I have been talking to someone over perth way about one of these cars.
  20. smart entrance controls the inside lights, door locks and chimes. in earlier cars they were separate modules. FYI S3 is different again.
  21. yet to try actually. I know that if they are NOT available I will use them off another nissan. thing I also found was I could not buy new for MY chassis are the door catches. though another fellow I spoke to had no problem getting them.
  22. a few progress images front window channel. the top/bottom corners of this had surface rust. I have wire wheeled most of it back to a shiny surface. the panel where the hoses are gets replaced. where the firewall panel meets it there is rust under it. other side. lower corner had surface rust. passenger side bonnet hinge mount. small hole there - nothing a bit of brass wont fix. never worked out WHY this happens on these cars. had several cars over the years like this (see middle of channel) only thing I can figure is that when the glass is out and put back its not clean enough and it doesn't reseal properly. other side - same issue. the areas around the boot lid are fine.. this will be the final product once I'm done with it - yes its that one is a GTR. Thats what the front of mine will look like. (thanks to ken for the shot!!)
  23. side glass - out! shame really. when you pull these things you destroy the seals. I have two perfect pieces of glass and no seals. on another note: my new sill panels are here. I'll pick them up over the next few days and snap a few piccies. i have a few other bits of steel to buy as well. the brace between the drivers front strut tower and fire wall has to come off. there is a small amount of rust directly under it that I can't get at so I am going to replace it as well.
  24. still reckon that it will end up being fixed are resold myself. yet to look at link - did they put it as a stat writeoff?
  25. so did you sort the steering buttons I sent you. re jap bands - 10/20 shift is a better option. better again (though not cheap) is to turf it and start again. re compliance - not really. it does not effect the safety or emmsions of the car. more of a conveinece item that you request to be done as an extra.
