  1. wise choice. bear in mind the audio system still suffers the same niggles but its a bit easier to change out. the BOSE audio presents a diferent problem but thats nothing that a $200 lead can't fix.
  2. he did indeed. I think jason works somewhere else now doing a similar thing. both those guys used to build stuff for the V8 supercar crowds many years back.
  3. +1 Jon and I BOTH know who this fellow is I'd be careful how you reply to him.
  4. give me a call during the week. I'll be coming back your way monday 26th. wouldn't mind a look at this.
  5. most are 350GTs. there are the odd few 3Lt versions and a few of the 2.5Lt ones.
  6. got a pic? if the navi unit is gone its not going to fire up.
  7. buy it, build it, profit..
  8. got chassis dimensions ? - that will end up ont eh street again VERY quickly. mate of mine can source bits for that NO problem.
  9. that was you!!! wondered who the hell that was. was listen to phil collins actually lay on the horn next time.
  10. will have to look at it in the flesh when I come past.
  11. location?
  12. I'll try to answer a few questions your call there. the manuals feel quicker to me. that said neither are slow. stay away from the CVT version as they can be quite expensive to fix. (this also takes out the paddle shift idea.) 3lt is a cruiser - 3.5 is lots of fun - 2.5 is a petrol miser but still ok to drive. done the full thing on it. the issue comes back to $$. if you only want the system in english and dont care about the TV side of things thats easy. (USDM box and buttons) - Navi - that will never work here- no maps. I do a refit on this and use garmin for the GPS. if you want it to work as built in japan then it's a different matter. that is a full refit and can be set up to be somewaht transparent in operation. GT versions are bose mainly. there are a few variants of course. bear in mind that when the 6 cd units break they are now in excess of a $800 repair for the 2001-2004.5 versions/ the later cars they changed the mech on them and tehy do not have the same issues. folding mirrors are a dealer fitted option. they do not ship with that as standard. if you find a car with them then there is a good chance that is has some form of 'alarm' on it as well. this is best removed as it is put in with scotch locks and DOES fcuk up and strand you. had 3 cars do this now and I have been pulling those units out ever since. xenon change over is easyish IF the ballasts are left in place. for the coupes they MAY still be there as they are part of the light. the sedans won't have them in place. if they are gone then its a call to nissan japan for the ballasts or a call to a mate of mine in perth. cruise control is a MUST. they tend to get away from you when you get over 100kmh. spent a fair bit of time developing one for these. reverse camera does help as you really cannot see behind you properly and you can lose a small car quite easily. that should take care of things on the electrical side of things. as you can tell I work on way too many of them.
  13. I'll be in sydney doing one as of the 20th of Oct. do you want me to do yours as well??
  14. if the car starts with that key then its coded to it. car WILL NOT start with an uncoded key. alarm will make no difference to that.
  15. then I would probably scare the hell out of you with my alarm prices.
  16. not quite. the VICS button was what I was talking about. yours didnt have it.
  17. google LKQ out of the USA. bear in mind they are different across the years so get your year. also for those if you that use the TV function - YOU WILL LOSE IT BY USING A USDM BOX!!!!
  18. buy that. not a bad list.
  19. been that way since inception into cars. honda did it in the early 90s in the legend the idea is low impedance - high power output.
  20. 1 or 0.5 ohm. either way bad for the average radio.
  21. yep and they are tailored to THAT CAR and nothing else. use them and there is a VERY good chance you will kill something.
  22. to be honest I do have what you need.screen, dvd unit,software- its a mule I use for R&D. thing being everyone wants this software for nix and depsite what you read that $100 for the CD/DVD is what everyone will pay. they won't. 90% of what you are reading is talk. plain and simple. as for application - the unit is used in this car, the E50 Elgrand and the Cima. now the el grand hasn't taken off that well. teh V35 has and the Cima is pretty much dead in the water. so if you wish to spend 6 months reverse engineering teh software for one line of car - go for it. the only gain thye will get out of this is the working trip computer. the TV will still be useless (analog NTSC format) and the GPS has no maps. if you work out the mapping engine for it - great. you still need to format the maps to suit. the other stuff (VICS) is the traffic radio/avoidance which very few of th cars have fitted. its a dealer option and of the 100+ cars I have worked on I have pulled two boxes out. its far quicker to buy a USDM navi box and button set to sort the trip computer. this will negate the TV function slightly (its still VERY doable) but fixes the language issue. to me a CKV36 will be a lot easier as its linux. mount the drive image it and then play. (not that I have time to fiddle.)
  23. it does but some of the 'fixes' I have seem in sydney in person look like crap. its a LOT easier to leave it there and pop the DVD unit under the seat. saves hassles with the car and the LAN system on it. when I do them the unit stays put. no point moving 58+ wires to put a POS dvd unit in the same spot.
