then you have to get it complied/ navi /radio done. set aside $60k and that would get the car and everything else done to suit.

pretty much summed it up there. I tend to look for the noise and then move on.
just a thought; if they give the car back to you in under an hour-worry. that means that I can STILL take the car in 30 sec or less as I'll have the alarm in my hand and OUT of the car.
in english: make sure the thing is installed PROPERLY. an alarm install is only as good as it's install. make sure the installer has a licence (NSW) and works for someone who has insurance / premises to do the job properly.
if you cannot afford a decent job - drive a shitbox for a few months until you CAN afford it.
