  1. that side of things is up to you. I'm offering an opinion based on previous cars I have seen/worked on. there are others on this forum that know a lot more than me on them only they tend to post a lot less than I do.
  2. last time I did this it was with a scan tool and a customer with a $38k cheque in his hand. even with photos at hand I still tore a certain black coupe to shreds with paint, belts and undercarrage damage. I think you get the gist. get hte thing UP on a hoist, inspect EVERY inch of it and look at teh seams. also take your favorite fridge magnet with you as you will need it. get a totally UNBIASED report on it. as a marker I know of a car here in brissy (blue coupe) that has the entire passenger side done and externally you wouldnt pick it. I didnt until I did the audio in it and found the cut/pick marks onthe inner shell. key point - inspect the hell out of it. granted its not a $100k car but its still a deecent whack of $$ to lose.
  3. warren, same thing that applied to your old one applies to the sedan as well. only thing I need to know is the engine size for cruise.
  4. 1st car - I have a navi box for that one IN ENGLISH! std interior - good idea. did that exact car about 3 weeks back now- car was from MLB as well. electrical issues are as I mentioned. radio being the key item. 2nd car: better from a modifiers standpoint. no dicking around with audio - rip that out and go again - radio only. to be honest toss a all in one barand name piece in there and you are done. externally - better car. 3rd car: NO! if I cannot see a decent shot of that thing then that tells me something is hiding. if you DO inspect that one - check the seatbelt dates. if they all match great. if not - walk away. I haev see those with full frontal hits and you would not have picked it.
  5. you are buying another one... ( I still see your old one kicking around here.) ok: camera - yep piece o piss - auto switching now navi - yep - perfected that now. can also do it another way depending on your budget. 06 has a BT phone built into it. that works a treat and if used with the correct phone will share data between car and phone on the OEM screen. the later 06 had a few minor changes to it but those aren't really spottable externally. smart key - seen it both ways with and without.
  6. its a fuse. now to be wore exact its the main acc fuse in the drivers panel and the ONLY way that pops is if someone has fiddled with that circuit. now if you have EVERY thing else there then its a unit fault and I fix those.
  7. to my knowledge - no. they are shot when you get them.
  8. best to talk to adam at stylyn in boronia. 0397398866.
  9. depends on what you are buying. I know he uses a few here in brissy. Mick works from home now. unless things have changed he uses a few people on the sunny coast to do his cars.
  10. depends where it sticks. there are two giudes at the base of it and a decent spring. if the spring is stuffed then you get part of the problem. guides are greased and if there is crap on them you also get that probelm. getting the thing out to check is a bitch.
  11. clinton, they are a laugh at the best of times. at one pioneer night I popped off the meaning of mosfet and stumped the rep and the sales staff that where there. PJ, how VERY well put. I'll sit neutral on this as I'm involved at a few levels on what you covered. to the OP: unless you are prepared for shit jobs day in day out - forget this biz. the stuff I do is not typical of day to day jobs.
  12. none of this is DIY. I cannot stress this enough. the band expander is $65 in parts to do properly. if you are handy with a screwdriver there is enough info on the forum (and by me) to fit that yourself. TV tuner. up to you. again if you are handy wityh a screwdriver you can do this. the rest - no. where are you?
  13. instead of assuming- call me . If you think you can do it cheaply go right ahead it will bite you in the arse.
  14. the last three requests there ARE NOT diy friendly. I do those on a turn key basis and you are well into the $2k mark. the navi language part of thing that is for the licence only. if you take it to me for example I may also charge for time. the screen on that car will struggle with HD - the normal option is fine. if you want HD stay at home. also if you intend to do the obvious - you will need a lockout device as well.
  15. you have the older HITV unit. they are slimmer but I still favor the HITV box myself. have used both (the asuka is used by GME) inthe past and there are places where the asuka shines and then places that the HITV outdoes it. antenna placement is critical on both. the HITV box has a bit more punch when it comes to powering up antennas. lately I have been using a amplified shark fin on them. in metro areas it works quite well regional up to 60km out if I have line of site to the towers. as for the input leads - depends on the yen. $60-80 is the norm and I have them in stock here.
  16. spotted 60TCHA and OBA811 off hamilton rd this arvo. alos spotted a black 33 in the same area heading to nundah off hamilton and a pearl white V35 with NT plates heading the same direction. so I have seen a few of these car today and only one I had my hands on..
  17. bingo. that said unless you are willing to do a full electrics swap its not worth the hassle. if you delve into the schematics for your car you will find that the ECU in it will not have any way to tell what the throttle is doing other than your right foot. that in itself tells the computer how wide to open the throttle in an ideal setting. throw slip and traction issues in and that changes again. short version - the ECU in there wont support cable throttle.
  18. ALSO: CAM , that is for the stores. I tried that a few years back. they will not let me in.
  19. yep and I like every minute of it! (he's right though.)
  20. nothing if you do as I have stated.
  21. kushil, you are going to need your keycodes
  22. what qualifictiosn do you have?
  23. you do know that the E51 El grand had a cable driven 3.5 in it don't you
