perv, good luck tossing a decent screen into that housing. been there already. size will be the issue for the earlier ones. as for setting it up with a car PC - yes. use linux and not windows. there are a LOT of linux apps that will do GPS. as for the TV idea - yes - find one with dual diversity or dual tuners. a single tuner WILL NOT do it. I'm currently researching this idea as well. mapping the OE buttons - you can try - they are a proprietry databus. best if you are good with hardware that you pull out a DSO and trap a few signals off the Tx & Rx lines. the rest of this is easy enough. so are you a software engineer or a Electronics engineer? can you make the thing stable enough so it doesnt need constant rebooting? as for getting audio and video into the OE system - if you are capable of doing what you are thinking then it shouldn't be a problem. google is your friend on those issues. I have the AV leads here to do it.

composite -> RGB converter and some associatd circutry. cost depends on what they are going for in your market. here they are $500 or so.

have seen several shops do it. they pull the woofer drill the bolt holes and then put the whole lot back together.

they are part of compliance. some of the later coupes had them factory though most shops still modify them to suit the local ADR rules. for the sedan - inside of the rear speakers and one dead centre in the middle of the deck and occasionally in the middle of the bose woofer grill when the car has premium sound. where is the car coming in btw?

dealt with them on a few things. not too bad. they speak english when you call them. terry, are you in burbank by chance?

dont worry it happens in QLD too. I had to go through this when I registered my subaru. same thing. they couldnt find it and then wanted to see the plate. drove the car up there with said plate and they queried more then someone else got involved and it went through.
