  1. speaking of large capacity GTR's, Red R have a 9800cc one nearly finished.
  2. spot on my friend, the rings are not a perfect seal.
  3. let me guess, were the cams still in the engine? Id say it was air entering the engine as some of the inlet valves were open.
  4. was over at Red R today and had a squizz at your stripped engine, its a bit of a disaster. How the previous machinist chopped up your block was insane. The reliefs cut in the base of the bores with no chamfer has given your piston skirts a hiding and the way the annular groove in the block bearing housing has been done is very messy. From what Paul said it didn't matter how many times this thing was rebuilt, using that block would have quickly destroyed it. mate looks like a new block, but it appears the crank has survived the carnage and the fella's said it should be ok to use. i feel your pain as i had a couple of disaster builds before Paul and Terry helped me out. She's in good hands bud.

  6. red r racing have got some mental builds going at the moment. contact them to see if they have something done that you could do a changeover with. Im getting my old r33 engine built there at the moment and was looking to sell when finished, pm me if your interested.
  7. It does bolt straight on, 12 bolts are used instead of factory studs. Lots of Japanese stuff is fitted by removing factory fixings and using another fastener to bolt it up. Doesn't take much brain power really, some of the questions the Japanese were asking us for help with on this build was a bit puzzling as it was really pretty straight forward. Maybe Mark and Pete at Hypertune should supply a scratchy sketch, some instructions in another language and a dozen bolts with their plenumn's to keep up with the Jappo's excellent engineering.
  8. you can mod it with some 3" thick walled ally pipe to give it the clearance you need. Cut pipe in half, scallop pan and weld it in.
  9. slave cylinder mount is forward of the clutch fork hole in a push type and behind in a pull. i have a spare shifter Luke, ill post it up to you.
  10. 30mm and 35mm welsch plug. Supercheap sell them in packs of 2 for about $10
  11. Ive seen these hold 50psi on a drag car without issues. They are not in the same league as Wiggin's items but seem to function well and look ok. Roy, these have been available for about 12 months and are resonably priced. Their contact details are at the base of the flyer.
  12. Why don't you just use the whole RB26 head? Paul at Red R Racing is currently engineering a VCT kit to run on the 26 head if retaining the VCT is the reason you wish to use the 25 head.
  13. yeah Terry reuilds these things in between spoonfuls of weetbix during breakfast. He did the PPG helical dog in my car and its mint. He also knows just what bits need ordering when doing OS conversions as the bits required are not always the same. This seems an issue with other shops doing OS boxes, handing the customer a notchy noisy box and telling the customer that its noisy and notchy due to the gearset. OS gearsets when installed correctly using the right list of update parts do not whine or are notchy, they shouldn't even be able to pick it from a stocker. He also does transfer cases.
  14. Have a chat to Paul at Red R Racing, ive personally seen him make turbos come on earlier by switching to larger camshafts. Its all in the headwork (port and chamber design). Just changing the head design and cams on one car made it come on boost nearly 1000rpm earlier and the difference in the torque curve was incredible. He used to run Tomei 260's with his GT-RS's and it was a laggy pig, he re-did the head with big JUN items and it was like a completely different car making peak torque really early without dropping off till about 9500rpm. im running 280deg cams in my car with a HKS T04Z, come up to Newy and ill take you for a drive.
  15. yep. BCPR7ES's are the ones i use. never miss a fire.
  16. especially with the 26 race head and VCam fitted.
  17. Paul has a history of making at the tyres what the HKS turbo's are rated at the engine, the head needs the right little tricks though. Put the 25 head on then save some cash for the big head...or when Paul is not looking steal Twoogle's!. lol Dave, 800whp response monster, should be fun at E.C. lol
  18. Its a Red R built forged CA18, it was going to be the drag car but now is used as a daily. Its an S13 Silvia with a few GTR bits bolted on. We got pulled over in it on Saturday night when Paul was running me home but as it appears to be totally stock they left empty handed, lol.
  19. plumbing it into the intake is fine on the street but not on the track. I originally had mine set-up that way and saw no blow-by on the street but at Superlap the car blew oil out the breathers, filled the small tank and then spewed oil into the turbo. Coming off throttle into turn one the oil sprayed out the inlet tract shorting out the AFM's, cutting the car out mid corner and almost ended up on its roof! Oil mist is also detonation fuel.
  20. HKS T04Z Marko. The figure was made at autosalon and was tuned by Paul the night before. It was good enough to win us a dyno trophy Specs of Engine build Mahle Pistons Greddy oil pump eagle rods R33 Crank Grubbed screwed Tomei buckets & springs Nitto Vavles Tomei Cams 280 by 10.5mm Lift Ported head N1 Block Trust Manifold Hypertune plenum 700cc injectors Paul always had the 30 idea floating around and one day wanted to build one but in a RWD car as the 4WD RB30 still was not a proven combo in aust. Now that his friend in Sydney has sucessfully has got a 4WD one sorted and has spent a bit of time with his mate Justin in Brisbane who eats and sleeps 30's (single cam) he was keen to build one that would be 'off the hook'. NYTSKY's new bottom end was going to be a methanol drag engine wearing 'twoogles' current head put into an s13 silvia but when the sale of the gtr shell fell through the plans were shelved. I would have liked to have seen the s13 car completed but having it going in Dave's car will at least have it around to see running instead of selling off all the bits. Forklift jokes were to wind up you guys on here, im sure you know how much he likes a bit of a giggle. lol.
  21. Paul showed me the video yesterday, they broke the LHR driveshaft on the previous pass 2 weeks before. Fixed it and out they went unaware the diff had snapped all the drive tabs off the LSD on the that side. He went out for another pass on the same night as this video and did this nice wheelie. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  22. was over at Red R Racing yesterday checking out the new engine room. Paul was showing me box after box of new parts for your build. the deal Paul has worked out for you is a cracker. We got stuck into pulling the 25 out last night and getting it ready to be sent to its new home.
