  1. Bang for buck and capability wise - even features in some instances being a newer car - they win, but they don't have the road presence if that's a "thing". Feels like a younger mans car than I should be driving.
  2. Not saying they can't last, but my guess would be a 4G would last longer with higher levels of punishment than any EJ. I can also say from personal experience that every WRX I've seen with similar power and tyres to my CA powered Silvia is substantially slower around a track and I'm not exactly Peter Brock. They made a name for themselves in Rally, I can appreciate that. That's where my appreciation stops. </rant> lol
  3. I couldn't do it. After reading something about them intentionally putting non tuned length manifolds on their cars for the distinct purpose of providing a unique exhaust sound at the expense of torque, revs, and known issue with cylinder temps doesn't sit right. Sure companies make mistakes, look at crank changes from 32 onward, but if you know it's shit, do something about it, don't try and tell people it's not shit. I realise you can just bang different manifolds on, but for me there's nothing redeeming about a Subaru that you can't get in an Evo with an arguably stronger engine.
  4. That's the thing. I can't test drive any of this stuff locally. It's a day trip to Melbourne or Sydney everytime, and when we have a toddler wasting a day like that - when I'm not even touching my track car, goes down really well...
  5. Woah woah WOAH, let's not get carried away here. I'd like one with a supercharger strapped on
  6. Tried many of them, probably didn't help I was only offering trade in cash buy (70-75)
  7. It's not, I don't have an issue with it. Not everyone knows it's only 2-3k though, they just read 09 GTR gearbox problems and 10k replacement cost.
  8. I've looked at those as well, as they're 09's you need to budget an extra 2-3k for box/bell housing upgrades which puts people off. Not many people want the very first model of something. Imagine the shit I cop with a CA S13...
  9. My finances are in OK order, or else I wouldn't be in a position to buy a toy car. I like buffers so I want to keep them in good order.
  10. I think part of my issue is that down the track I may want to move whatever I buy on and get into an R35 when the ass falls otu of that market due to import law changes.
  11. Cheers, thanks. The cheap ones seem flogged. GT-Rs are enough of a money pit as it is.
  12. I feel this way, but am having a hard time accepting it. If a gun metal VS2 came along with all the bolt ons and it was 50 i would probably go for it if it was clean. But that type of car is now pulling 60-70. Maybe my issue is I can't afford/justify the R34 I actually want?
  13. Just here to rub it in hey? I really just can't fathom 50-60k for a 34, I feel like the market is a little artificially inflated, as much as I love the car. Not to detract from your purchase though, very nice car
  14. I considered an E92. Supercharger kits aren't that expensive for them....
  15. Fair enough. Ideally I want my mates to all buy different stuff and be willing to trade keys for the weekend, is that weird?
  16. I think this is part of my issue these days too. They seem so old.
  17. If I was in Melbourne it would be that simple... I'm putting some time aside soon to get down there and test drive various cars back to back. I agree with this sentiment but am not even sure I know what it means anymore. When I had my GT-R, everything else was "good, but no GT-R". Is it just a badge?
  18. I agree re 34s, though I prefer the 33 over the 32, but much of a muchness in terms of price for a decent one. My finances are in order otherwise I wouldn't be buying a "toy" car, but still, hvbing that 20-30k left over because I bought a 33 certainly seems appealing. STI.... no. You ended up with a 32?
  19. Have driven 33s (owned one) and 34s, haven't driven Evo's/FDs/Supras/M3s etc as my experience has all been Nissan (not counting some of my Ford/Toyota/Holden daily drives). Enjoy the "drama" of driving a 26, rev's, noise, boost etc. Again, I'm interested in other peoples views. I'll make my own mind up when the time comes. This is just a "General automotive discussion". Though I did correctly guess you would be the first to respond
  20. That might be "my" answer, but I'm interested in hearing others opinions. The value for money part of my brain is not loving GT-Rs right now.
  21. Evo interiors don't thrill me plus they seem a little, I dunno, feminine? Not sure I'd feel quite the same doing a weekend cruise in my Evo when compared to a GT-R.
