Why are people are still posting here ? GTStR32 hasn't posted anything with regards to this turbo being sold or still available since 17/03/04. Just asking ..............

Maybe.......just maybe I might do one job on this car of mine without drama's this time

Great news. Many Thanks Evan.

Hi, Just a quick question. I'm about to fit a GT2535 to my car and was just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this question. The HKS GT2535 turbo has a bracket ( looks like a HKS one ) that is a mounting platform for the wastegate actuator which is fitted. What I want to know is can I use the wastegate actuator from a stock R33 GTS-T turbo on this bracket ? The reason I ask is cause I have a HKS actuator on my turbo ( R33 GTS-T ) and I'd like to use it on the GT2535. Thanks. P.S. I know about the water and oil lines etc.

Roy, Pinging is not the problem. It's just not making the oomph. Anyway, I'm going to try another turbo which I think may help a long way towards fixing the problem ( it better !! ). Will post the results if all goes well. If not, the car is history !

DoughBoy, Please diasregard. Just got your email. Cheers.

DoughBoy, Can you please contact me on 0414-862-626. Thanks, Scott.

Hmmm. Does the same go for a modified RB20 ? ( Keeping in mind I've had head work done and the pistons )
-
Well, Just to keep the info alive re my original problem, I've just found out that the 40 thou oversized Arias forgies that were fitted are 8.3:1 comp ratio. Most people are saying the stock is 8.5:1 but some are saying it's 8.7:1. I guess anyway you look at it, I need more air flow / boost so I guess I'm looking for a GT2535 Does anyone know if the dump pipe that suits a stock turbo will suit a GT2535 ? Also I guess the same question with regards to a GT2835Pro ?
-
Roy, Yes, the ECU was re-mapped on the dyno ( same dyno I always use ) and the tuner just couldn't get the power out of it. Chris32, I had to rebuild my motor as the number 4 big end bearing failed and the oil pump rear cover had come lose. Otherwise she was a sweet engine.
-
On my stock motor ( before it went belly up ) with a programmed ECU and a set of 550cc injectors ( overkill ), GT-R fuel pump and pressure regulator, running 1 bar boost I was making 207.3 kw at the wheels. I never wound the boost up for fear of blowing the head gasket ( I'm told that 18psi is the smart maximum for a stock head gasket ) but then again I WAS happy with 207.3 so never saw the need to crank it any further. Just my opinion but I think the GT2530 is one of the best turbo's available for the stock RB20DET and the GT2535 for the stock RB25DET.

Roy, That's what I'm planning on doing but the questions are how much do I take off the head to retrieve the lost compression and how much CAN I take off the head before the pistons and the valves start having sex? ( Not actually asking because cause I get the feeling that nobody can actually answer those questions ). rb20-calais, Tried running more boost through the GT2530 but it seems peak efficiency is 1.4bar and anything after that is just hot air. RedDrifter, The GT2835 would have to be my choice also if I didn't know any better ( which I don't ). Then the problems are 1: Do I get a GT2835, a GT2835R, a GT2835Pro or a GT2835ProS ?2: What wheel trim and A/R do I get and 3: How much is it going to cost ?. Every day I get one step closer to selling this car !!
-
Thanks for that RedDrifter. So if I'm correct, a stock RB20DET should have a compression ratio of 8.5:1 and 140psi on a compression test. With that in mind I'll do a comp test on mine and do the formular. In the event that my comp ratio is down and I should choose to go a bigger turbo, does anyone have an opinion on what I should use ?? ( Considering the head work and 40 thou oversized forgies )
-
Joel, Thanks for that info. Will try to figure it out. Got this horrid feeling that there's going to be a huge brawl in getting this all sorted I don't know about the other points you proposed but I guess I'm going to have to look at those options now. Gee's it's not like I can even get a bigger turbo and run more boost since there's a standard head gasket fitted.

My bro got a R32 GTS-T wats INSUREENCE COST???

At least that's how I interperate the policy ( Page 7, Para 2 I think ). -

Just a thought. I had a look at the comprehensive policy for Famous Classic Car Insurance and chose against it because although they will insure your car at an agreed value, it says in the policy that if your car gets stolen or is damaged beyond repair, they will pay you either the "agreed value" or the "current market value" WHICHEVER IS LESS. A nasty trap that some insurance companies lay. -
Can a drop in compression ration make that much difference ?????? The engine builders are going to do a difference check between stock pistons a nd the ones I got to see what the difference will be. I've never done a cylinder volume test before ( from memory ). How's it done ? Assuming that the engine actually has a lower CR, what would be the fix ? A bigger turbo ?
-
Can I ask why you're selling it ?? Did you get turbo surge with it fitted to your RB20 ??
-
That's a distinct possibility in my opinion but that's what I'm either trying to prove or disprove so I know if I can either place the blame back on the engine builder and get him to fix it ( since I specifically told him/them that I wanted a build that would make the most of what I had but would not require more $'s in the future to make the build work ). I have put it to the builder and he swears that it should all work fine. Guess again............. That's why I'm looking for someone who's built an RB20DET in much the same way as me and is running a GT2530, injectors, and a programmed ECU and see if any similar problems occured. So frustrating...........

Roy & Joel, Yes it was the same dyno and there was nothing really done apart from the head was ported ( mainly above the valve area, polished up somewhat, and the seats were cut to a larger size. Other than that the only things that were done were the balancing of the bottom end and a set of Arias forged pistons ( 40 thou oversized ). I asked them about the possibility of compression ratio drop and I pretty much got a blank expression and I did tell them 3 times throughout the build that I did not want monster power. Just wanted more torque and a bit more power than standard but I think they've gone overboard. I've got a horrid gut feeling that another head will be required to fix this problem because I don't have the money for cams, bigger turbo, more dyno time etc, etc.
-
As far as I know it was checked while the car was on the dyno and all was well. I think I might triple check it myself because it and the crank angle sensor are the only things that I can think of at the moment that might be the problem ( outside of the rebuild ).
-
Hi, I need to know if anyone has had any bad experiences ( performance wise ) after rebuilding an RB20DET especially with regards to forged pistons or having head work done on an RB20DET ? I've just had my engine rebuilt with 40 thou oversize forgies and port / polish work on the head and now with more boost, fuel etc. the car's making less power on the dyno than it did before the rebuild. Nothing else has been changed. I'm stumped.

ScarifieR, It comes with the filter, the bell-mouth and adapter, the bracket that goes from the AFM to the adapter and the O-Ring ( seal ) that goes between the AFM and the adapter ( in other words, more than a complete kit ). If you or someone else wants it, please send me a PM so arrangements can be made. My first preference is to sell it locally so I can do a cash transaction but then it's first in, best dressed -

DLuded, The filter has been used on my car for no more than 10,000km but it's in brand new condition as it's all stainless steel construction and I just had it ultra-sonic cleaned. Sorry but I've already dropped the price to my limit ( $120 ) and if I can't get that I'll just keep it and use it for track days only as it's too loud for my liking on the street.
