If you're talking about idle at operating temp, I'd be a little concerned if my idle was not dropping below 1k !! ( Factory idle at op temp should be 650rpm from memory......) But I guess if you're happy with it, that's cool.

I personally believe that if the surface of the disc is near new, leave it and just change the pads but if the ware area is recessed or there's any scoring, do the machining. I've seen someone put new pads in on recessed discs and try to bed them in only to break away the inner and outer edges of the pads. Also, I only machine a set of discs once if the car's used for track use etc. I've found that with machined discs and heavy braking they don't take long before they get heat cracks and/or start to warp. My personal preference for bedding in brakes is to drive the car normally for about 50-100 km and then do some very heavy braking down from 100 kph + to about 20 kph but NOT stopping completely. Instead, I just keep driving so the discs don't get too hot. This is usually enough to bed them in I've found. This is also the way I was taught to bed in the barkes on Ferrari's and Lambo's back when I was a spanner monkey. Again, this is only my personal belief / preference.

Group 3C Commodore Race Car
TokyoTaxi replied to TokyoTaxi's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Yes the M21 has been strengthened with close ratio gears. Sorry, I'm not sure about the times. Please call the owner who should know the answers Call Mick 0410-558-711 -
Fully prep'd race car ready to go. Professionally built in 1998 and competed in 3 races in 1999 ( placed between 1st and 4th each time ). Originally built for and raced by Aaron McGill. Has been used only a couple of times since on track days. ENTIRE DRIVE TRAIN IS VERY FRESH AND READY TO GO !!!! - VC Commodore with fully prepaired body / interior ( cage, harness, gauges etc etc ). - Race prepaired 308 with 850 DP Holley and much, much more producing 400 dyno proven HP. - M21 4 Speed and Mini-Spool. - Fully adjustable suspension with all the extra's. - Just under 1100kg with full fuel. For all the "in depth" details on this car please call Mick on 0410-558-711 $8,000 ono Why not vent your aggressions on something that's built for it instead of killing your sweet ( expensive to fix ) import ?!?!?!? :uh-huh:

Just Jap in Kirrawee ( NSW ) sell tubes of plastic cleaner at $20 a pop that works VERY well and is specifically for this type of problem. It's imported from Japan so good luck reading the instructions ! Not a polish but a cleaner. The odd thing is........it does smell a bit like toothpaste........but works much better.

Just a suggestion. It may be the cold air bleed valve that sits mid way down the engine just over the inlet manifold runners ( I think that's where it is on a 33 ). It's a squareish valve with a hose going in one side and coming out the other. From what I understand......on cold start, there is fuel enrichment which works in conjunction with the temp sender unit etc, etc. The cold start air bleed valve supplies the air which allows the engine to idle up in conjunction with the fuel being delivered for cold start. This valve uses either an electric signal or coolant temperature ( can't remember which ) to activate a bi-metalic spring which opens the valve on cold starts and closes as the engine warms up. When this valve gets dirty, it sticks in the closed position and therefore the engine runs too rich and wants to stall. Once the engine temp warms up, the valve does not come into play anyway, so all is normal. I might be way off the track ( as it could be many things ) but I guess it can't hurt to have a look.

Hi all, A friend of mine has an R33 GTS ( RB25DE ) in which the HICAS light started coming on every now and then. I used info from an old posting I found here and performed the diagnostic procedure ( cool thing to see ! ). Anyway, the HICAS light flashed in the following sequence but I have no idea what it means. 10 short flashes, 5 second gap, 2 long flashes and then 2 short flashes. ALSO........ When my friend went to drive home that night, there were no illumination dash lights ( warning lights worked ) and the rear ( possibly front also ) parking lights were out. Found the 10 AMP fuse and replaced it but it blew on installation and then again after that. I can only assume that these two events are related because all lights were fine before the HICAS test was carried out. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated as I'm stumped !!!!!!

I have the following "NEW" items for sale. They are Genuine NISSAN parts still in original packing. - First item is a badge that goes on the valley cover of a GT-R ( I believe ). Not sure what they're for but if you want to do the homework they can be yours for $60 for the pair. NISSAN P/No. 11220-56L00 PM if interested.

Lozza150, Couldn't re-find the post you started on HICAS Diagnostics so I was just wondering if you could answer the folloing question. I ran the diagnostic check as you stated to do on an R33 GTS ( non-turbo ) and got the following results: - 10 fast flashes - 5 second gap - 2 long flashes - 2 short flashes Any idea what that indicates as faulty ? Thanks in advance.

RECARO + Rail suit R32 & R33
TokyoTaxi replied to TokyoTaxi's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Meaning..... The actual solid part of the seat ( the bucket ) that is bolted to the rail frame was painted in Black with a heavy Silver Flec through it. Then over that formed bucket is the fabric and cushions / padding which make up the seat. Hope that makes sense. Looking at the back of the seat through the back window of the car on a sunny day looks very cool. Anyway, I've had a fair bit of interest but most have said they'll wait to see if I drop the price so I'm going to make this offer. Price reduced from $600 to $500 and you simply take it all away. First in best dressed at this price :uh-huh: so PM or call me on 0414-862-626. No further price reduction are planned. -

Also forgot to mention that it comes with very cool anti-theft fasteners that prevent the seat from being removed from the rail and the rail removed from the car without the special keys. Great peace of mind ! -
Aftermarket LSD question
TokyoTaxi replied to Chris32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Chris32, Don't know if this of any interest to you but in the near future I'll be removing my LSD and swaping it back to a stocker since I'm not doing any more track days and it's not really what I want for street use. ( Yes I'm getting old ). I pulled the back cover off to check the condition of the diff in general and to determine what brand it was when I got it ( it was sold to me ex Japan as a Cusco 1.5 way ? ) and it turned out to be an ATS ( Active Traction Systems, Japan ) 1.5 way which was an extremely cool finding considering the ATS centre kit alone goes for around $1,800. plus shipping and fitting. Anyway, I'll be looking to get my money back in the sale which is $1,000 It's in my R32 GTS-T at the moment but keep your eyes on the parts for sale page. Sorry if this is what's considered hijacking a thread ( I really don't understand all these terms ) -

R34 GT-T / GT2530 Hybrid Turbo
TokyoTaxi replied to TokyoTaxi's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
OK all, I've received 8 pm's in like 15 minutes so I'll try to make a few things clearer. The turbo's done about 1,400km's since new core fitted, peak efficiency is 1.3bar I'm told, does not come with a wastegate actuator and requires an ADJUSTABLE one to be fitted. Does not come with fittings and lines either but if you want the accessories that I do have to make a sort of package ( Turbo, Water fittings, Oil Pressure Line and Fittings, Oil Drain pipe/hose and HKS actuator ) the cost would have to be $1,100 plus shipping if required at your expense. For $800 you get the Turbo with the compressor outlet pipe. Sorry for the confusion.
