  1. EVERY fatal accident and EVERY pursuit I have been involved with have been young males as the offending driver!! That being said I don't think that you can teach them more or make the license testing harder for them. You can't teach maturity and sensibility behind the wheel. It's something that you either have at young age or learn through life lessons. It's an issue and always will be an issue but nothing we can really do. We have all done stupid things behind wheel of car at some stage and learn from it and grow up. The MUST IMO is license testing for international students on visa's and the elderly. The MAJORITY of minor accidents in my area involve them.
  2. Eastes, In relation to the speeding fines I was talking about my role at work. I have no idea about camera fines but would expect that it would be similar that you would contest fine and go to court to and have contest mention day and negotiate with camera/police informant and prosecutor and say that you will plea to the 119 and they would except in almost every case because it saves them putting full case together to prove 100% accuracy of camera, expert witnesses etc etc etc They win case so they are happy with less work and you get lesser speed equaling win for you! I have personally been police informant in about 10 similar cases in last 2 years and all ended up going that way.
  3. My advice like others before is to contact a traffic solicitor and find out if you can get off due to 2 cars in photo. All depends on type of camera and whether it's using radar or laser to judge speed. If you can't get off on that then i would suggest contesting the fine and pleading guilty to the 39km/h over and not losing your license. As a police member I get almost every speeding fine contested when it's within few km/h over license suspension speed and we always accept guilty plea at slightly reduced speed which either keeps their license or they only get suspended for 1 month instead of 6. Hope this helps
  4. I would like to say that I have never pulled my badge out to get out of fine. Only pulled over once doing something minor wrong and didn't pull the badge. Didn't need to as I work at the same station with them. Win all the way. I think that I would be the only member to have issued fine to his Acting Inspector/Station boss. He was at fault in collision I attended and as such received a fine like anyone else would!
  5. This is funny. I have the best way to get out of fine and we all know what that is. LOL
  6. I'm going in November and counting the days. I wouldn't expect anything else that an AWESOME concert!
  7. Absolutely. Almost all the people I have put in for license reviews have failed the test and had their license suspended. In relation to accidents almost the only time speed is a factor is in Major/Fatal collisions. 95% of collisions I have been to have been fail to give way or fail to drive sufficient distance behind a vehicle (rear end) the rest are drink driver's or elderly/bad driver's losing control round bend or similar. I have been to about 20 in last couple of years with elderly crashing into fences/houses/shops by accelerating in stead of braking.
  8. On the talk of Drink Driving just saw on Ch 10 news that 8 police have been charged with it in last 2 months and 3 got fired as a result. I think the total was 198 since 2000. Pure stupidity IMO and got what they deserve. Shows the type of people we are recruiting.
  9. I don't know if alcohol/drugs were involved. I heard that the car was possibly drag racing and lost control and crashed into a large tree. The damage to the car clearly showed it was a very high speed impact crash. I can't comment any further on that as matter ongoing and under investigation. I agree that XPCA (drink driving) should stay at 0.05 and not 0.00. Nothing wrong with glass of wine with dinner etc and people may have some in system the next morning after big night. I don't think it should be higher as I have seen lots of people blow 0.06 to 0.08 that in my opinion were wasted and other's blow 0.10 and appear as though they haven't even had a drink.
  10. Birds, that was the one. I didn't end up going to the scene. Just heard it all over the air. XPCA is Drink Driving. Bird's you would be surprised at how intoxicated some people we catch driving are. Some can't even stand up, or barely talk. Most of them are from accidents. Crashing into poles, fences, multiple parked cars. Probably over the last 3-5 years 80% of the drink drivers I have caught are international students/visa's sadly it appears it's impossible to educate/prevent them from this behavior.
  11. Well another bad night on the roads with yet another fatal and the Major contributing factor SPEED. RIP and feel for all those involved. We also got another 3 XPCA overnight also. I don't know when people will learn. There was even one XPCA that crashed threw the road block at the scene of the fatal almost running members down!
  12. Peter, Have to agree with you about the drink driving and impound. That's something that should be looked at, possibly anything over 0.10 should be impound criteria. Definitely something needs to be done as drink driving is totally out of control. My station alone probably get 3-4 a week on night shift just while driving around patrolling etc I target it more than most and unless tied up at jobs I set up targeted road blocks every Fri/sat night and have got a drink driver EVERY time within the first 10 cars tested. Half the time it was the very first car! I even almost got ran over last night doing a road block by person who simply couldn't see me standing in the middle of the road in a reflective vest, with torch, emergency lights on and in very well lit area. He hadn't even been drinking. Some people should NOT be on the road!!
  13. It was about 4am and he was on his way home from being out at club in the city. His alcohol reading was on the increase. He was speeding simply because he wanted to get home faster. I followed him at speed up to 160-165 which was going downhill then but then he started to slow down as approaching Stud Road, which he barely stopped and ended up almost in middle of intersection. I was amazed that he even slowed down for that. To be "fair" I just called his speed at 140 which he was well over but I followed/tried to catch up to him at 150-170 for about 2-3 km.
  14. The speeding doesn't over ride the alcohol as such but when you lose it for 12 months for speeding the 11 month suspension for the alcohol becomes irrelevant. Should be served one after the other not concurrently but what can you do. I guess they don't expect to have people drink driving and speeding to such an extent.
  15. Caught person doing 140-160+ in 80 Zone who also went more than double the alcohol limit. The Drink driving ban is canceled out by the speeding ban. Impound, 1100 in fines and no driving for 12 months. Lucky for him he didn't kill anyone. I'm glad I was doing laser duties when things were quiet and now have him off the road! He wants to contest it saying his Honda Jazz doesn't go that fast.
  16. This is some funny stuff. Asking for advice on how to commit Fraud..LOL
  17. Lav, I haven't heard of anyone talking about HI- torque and haven't been to them myself so can't comment on them but Below is list of recommended work shops from the Sticky thread section. I have also read lots of good reports on here about Status. Going from this I wouldn't go to Hi-torque unless you know them personally or similar and recommend Status or one from the list below as they are all well known and well regarded with lots of experience with imports/skylines. Car Impounded

I would expect that because you plead guilty to charges relating to the incident that you couldn't complain about it being impounded or costs. This is why we put as many charges on as possible on brief as this happens in most cases charges are dropped and lesser one's plead guilty to or they plea to the main charge and and rest of the smaller charges are dropped. The careless driving would cover the manner in which vehicle was driven anyway. Loss of traction would be covered by that and thus cover the impound. Good result for you in end as full contest probably would have ended up much worse for you. Possibly same charges held up but most likely bigger fine and loss of license.
  19. People double parking is a real pain along Kingsway, Glen Waverley. It blocks up the whole road all the time. I normally just move people on but those who are there picking up food etc and just leave car for sometimes 5 minutes deserve a fine.
  20. He would have only got 4 months because it was a Ferrari and in the media and sentence was irrelevant due to his other matters. Could steal 100 Skylines and would only get a suspended sentence or similar normally. This is how the court system works. Crooks go on crime wave and then Adjourn matters over and over so in the end it all the matters get heard at once, then they plea guilty and everything gets wrapped into one and all the sentences are consolidated. There is no deterrence at court and this is why most proper crooks continually re-offend.
  21. Kinkstaah, I was going to post the same thing. Unfortunately this is how the court system works. Almost all the sentences are concurrent almost giving crooks free rein to go on crime spree once they know they will be going inside. Who cares if you go to jail for 1 crime or 1000 if the sentence is exactly the same. He must have some serious prior history and done A LOT of frauds to get 35 months.
  22. Last week I spotted a certain member's car parked outside a known drug dealer's house in Mulgrave!
  23. I normally don't fine people with expired rego labels but these people deserved it, obviously more to it but won;t say on here.
  24. I fined 2 people yesterday for having expired rego label affixed. $119 fine now days. Their labels were more than 2 years old. Also caught one guy speeding who had just left the court and had the paperwork showing that his license was cancelled. Some people will never learn
  25. I have never and will never issue a warning for this. When we check a car it is recorded and if I don't fine that person and it's later involved in accident or pulled over again I will be in a world of trouble and possibly even liable in any civil proceedings. It's the exact fine as driving around Unlicensed. We have one guy driving around in unregistered car, unlicensed and tries to evade us too. At least we got him once and now know who he is and have the local TMU and everyone at my station patrolling to get him again. I have locked up a guy once for driving unregistered car, unlicensed and with false plates. He did it all the time and the court finally said enough and issued warrant and sent him to jail for 3 months.
