  1. i lol'ed
  2. love_hate: i assume your talking about the r32 25de head there, as the 33 25det head ythat i plan on running wont need the valve springs upgading, and i can run the manifold no worries. can someone shed some light onto the oil drive mod. how do you go about it?
  3. you can do everything you mentioned, I know of a few people who have got 100 dollar bottom ends from wreakers, slapped a twincam head on it and then realed off insane power figures.. since your retaining the 25 head then yes everything will still bolt on as per standard. In short this is what im doing, but with a fresh bottom end.
  4. yeah but the difference is in ecu's... as i said the stock ecu wont do it! ever!
  5. yeah ive already got everything to support the power, injectors, turbo, exhaust, box, clutch, etc etc
  6. another thing that im worried about is the CR of the stock pistons... ive read that its around the 8.2:1 mark... should i be concerned or is it a moot point?
  7. ahhh choke central! im just a little worried that i might choke my 3071R as it has a GCG cast OP6 housing .7AR... dunno.. should be ok.. `
  8. what size turbo bubba?
  9. wow... a lot of info in one day, i appreciate everyones imput and i know im not the only one currently weighing this up. I cans ee where guilt toy is coming from, theres a lot of hidden extra's there but i believe i can tackle them all myself at little to no extra cost... engine mounts i can do myself, water lines, i have custom ones anyway, etc etc I was going to freshen up a block with ACL race bearings and rings. maybe i should stick with Nissan rings and bearings, and just ensure its all done spot on? As for revs... my current redline is 7500 rpm which some people say is too much for a series 1 rb25. however i try not to bash the limiter at all. i dont mind losing 500 rpm if it means gaining a massive amount down low.. as i said, i can simply shift up a gear and ride the torque wave. will 7000 be a safe limit? Cheers Simon
  10. thanks guys, yeah i have read through the RB30 thread, theres some 400 very informative pages but it makes finding what you want to know very hard lol. very impressive power figures being made too. the grub screw idea sounds great, easy as pie too. i dont want to run VCT since i have an RB20ecu remapped to run the 25 atm, no VCT control... besides ive got some cams coming anyway so i dont really need the VCT. if its less hassle i def wont bother rigging it up.
  11. i think joels is a larger turbo then mine.. but thats a moot point really. one other thing, should i use a 25 or 26 oil pump? Also, with the 25 head, i dont plan on running the VCT at all so its operation isnt needed, Do i still need to weld up the feed for it? or is there a way around it? If welding it up is the only way what is the correct way to go about it?
  12. basically my questions are. Will the stock pistons and rods do the job if the rev limit is kept to 7000 rpm? max power no more then 280 rwkw. and if not, where do i go from there?
  13. seems to be the general opinion from anyone who has done it lolol
  14. 7500 is the current RPM limit... i would prob drop this back to 7000 for a 30DET in the aim of reliability. the fact that the 30det will make more torque earlier, and hopefully for longer means that if i do start to run out of revs all i need to do is shift up a gear. As for pistons... i plan on stockers... unless someone suggests other wise... basically im just after a mild package. i really dont see myself going for a 400 rwkw package, All i want is to make the same peak power or maybe 10-20 rwkw more. but with a shitload more responce and torque throughout the revrange.
  15. im seriously considering going an RB30det.... i need someone on her to tell me its a good idea to go and blow some money on doing it. Basically ive got an RB25det atm with a GT3071R making 265 rwkw on 16 psi or 1.1-1.2 bar ive got cams coming to improve the lowdown (i dont run VCT atm) and the car is used for drift which isnt all about peak power. I am getting my hands on a spare 25det head and RB30 block. My plans for the block were to put ACL rings, brearings and so forth in it, freshen it up, 25det oil pump with the crank mod to give more drive area. once this was done i was going to put the 25 head on it with a stock nissan HG and my 254 8.9mm lift cams the aim of the game is to keep it simple and reliable... I do not plan on making much more peak power then i am now (FWIW i made 282 rwkw on my 3071r on 20 psi) but what i do want is a HUGE midrange and instant responce. am i on the right track or should i just stick to the 25? Im a mechanic, so will be getting parts on the cheap and building the bottom end myself. the cost all up for the upgrade is budgeted at around $1000. Thats 2-300 for the crank mod (would get someone to do that for me) then 500 for ACL race bearings, ACL rings, gasket kit, front and rear mains seals, and head studs. discuss.
  16. Im no fan of Bill.... he has screwed me and coutless mates of mine... i dont know if we are getting him on a bad day or something, i understand errors happen but he doesnt stand by his work at all. MTQ is the go if you want a truly professional job, they are located in Regency park a few streets over from the inspection station... (irony maybe) Failing that, for a REAL highflow... GCG in sydney are the pro's! their highlow is tried and tested and makes proven power ( i could be sponsored by them lol )
  17. gtr injectors can be made to fit however thats a lot of custom stuffing around, you'd be better off getting some S15 injectors
  18. that said, the gains to be had from going to a stock ecu to a remap/PFC are huge compared to the gains from going from a remap/pfm to another aftermarket ecu. Obviously there's some hardcore ecu's out there, such as autronic and motec but for the money spent they will only give slight gains over a well tuned PFC. they will however do a lot more and a better job.
  19. if all you are after is 250 rwkw then spend 300-400 on S15 injectors which will be a great little upgrade.
  20. I am After the following parts. I NEED a clutch peddle box + master cyln from a manual R32 asap. will pay postage and reasonable price. I dont need as bad but would like a spare R32 4.3 Diff. PM me or email on [email protected]. Cheers Simon

  23. Need a pair of adjustable cam gears to suit above RB motor, can be new or 2nd hand (in good cond) Im in SA but will pay postage. Price needs to be reasonable also. PM me Cheers Simon
  24. assuming its a R33 series one, then those cams will be an ideal upgrade. however be aware the stock cams are good for 300 rwkw also. Its just that the cam upgrade gives you better spool when running a larger turbo and also more midrange torque.
