  1. mercuary motorsport proved you can push 700 hp from a stock neo and then subject it to drag racing for a while with their VC commo they built for a customer.. i dare say the rods and pistions are strong things! i shall start a slow build of another block i have on the side... will get it ready for next year
  2. found a sweet vid from team NZ... has a short clip of me 56 sec in.. shows how i bent rim :S
  3. i would but i cant find any around for a reasonable price... im not paying 2.5-3K for just a motor like some wreckers want,
  4. i can take pics and measurements of the neo chanbers but i dont have a spare 33 head lying around
  5. haha yeah ive been watching that thread for ages... the mind boggles at how nissan get it so right sometimes.. and yet so many ppl have issues with N1 pumps. it begs the question was there a prob with the design/manufacture of the pump or a problem with the fitting/rest of the build that contributed to the failure. i think i'll either reuse the OEM neo pump (i inspected it... looks brand new still.. no bearing material went thro it. or go a billet geat set for the oem housing.
  6. i gotta meet up with you too.. ive got that 50 from pickering for ya and your jack
  7. yeah i hear ya kitto... however oem is 1.1. but thats for stock boost and power.. the stock coils can do a fair bit more then that tho. worth a shot. all in all you'll waste 30 misn if you have to change the gap back down to a smaller one
  8. 1.1 is stock gap... try that. if it missfires then just go to 0.8
  9. 1.1 is stock gap... try that. if it missfires then just go to 0.8
  10. every seen a Neo RB25 oil pump martin?? they look suspeciously like an RB26 item! very different from r33 rb25 pumps
  11. Few other differences I noticed while cleaning my engine. The neo oil pumps are different. Gear profile is different then that of a 33 item. On the crank the oil holes are far more chamfered then a 33 one. Will get pics
  12. Ah yep makes sense I hadn't thought of that.
  13. There's a lot of ppl using them with no dramas. And yet you her of breakages. So I dunno lol
  14. Hylomar or copper sprays are not to be used with multi layer gaskets
  15. Dale. I spun bearings as a result of an oil cooler connection failure. So replacing crank. Bearings and getting crank collar done also. Haven't pulled my pump apart yet but there was very little in the way of bearing material so I may be lucky. However I kinda doubt re-using it is a smart move. Was leaning toasted cleaning and inspecting housing and fitting billet gears. I don't think I'll run restrictors if I go down this path as pressure and flow should remain the same
  16. So billet gears in oem housing could be a go then? What about the restrictors? To be honest the thought of running the oem pump is sounding more appealing with all the research I've done
  17. Are they still no good even with crank collar? From the reading I did the broken ones were used in stock cranks
  18. Quick question. I have a neo rb25 which pushes 350 rwkw and sees a lot of track thrashing and limiter action. Never once has catch can seen oil so oil control is pretty decent. Anyway it's all apart now and I'm getting a crank collar fitted and was going to go n1 oil pump. Will I need restrictors in the block? If so what size do ppl suggest. Cheers
  19. yeah thats what i said wasnt it? lol
  20. biggest thing that suprised me is that the crown on the neo piston is hollowed out and on the under side there are two large opposing holes which allow oil to channel thro the crown via rod oil squirter and the main block oil squirter... pretty decent stuff from OEM
  21. rods are fatter. with the piston the crown is hollowed out with two large holes allowing oil to be squired up into them, the rods have a tiny oil hole facing the crown, along with the piston bore squirter. the ring lands are fatter on the neo's and as for weight the neo piston and rod even tho it has more material is slightly lighter then non neo.
  22. so much talk lately of neos having this or that... i thought while my neo was apart i'll take pics of it. if anyone wants pics of anything neo spesific youve got a week to let me know before it goes back together. heres a neo piston vrs a 33 piston and rod combo... the neo is the clean one and the 33 one is the dirty one with the oil soaked fly lol. some very interesting differences!
  23. the clean piston is the neo one.
