S14 With Neo Rb25 Drift Car.
Simon-S14 replied to Simon-S14's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Well G1 was run and done... had a stack of drama;'s and car was down on power and up on grip in a huge way so was difficult to drive! heres some pics anyway -
the RB30 hub has same bolt bolt pattern on both the water pump side and the fan side as RB20/25 so if that doesnt fit then neither will 20/25 one.
-
lol prove to me that wheels and tyres take 30 rwkw to turn....
-
i give up with talking with ignorant fools like ash. trent wanna chip in with your experience with dynos?
-
im afraid your wrong on this one. as i said, dyna pack dynos take in account the lack of wheels and tyres and adjust accordingly. another result i can quote is Ev's R31 with 25. exact same turbo again. has steam pipe manifold, [forward facing inlet manifold, internally stock motor. Dyno'd on a roller dyno and what do you know... made 292 rwkw on 19psi http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...t&p=5548203
-
you do not lose 30-40 rwkw through a pair of wheels and tyres. more like 10 rwkw or so. Oh and dynapack dynos have correction software to take into account of wheel inertia and so forth. Maybe have a read of this http://home.earthlink.net/~spchurch/id12.html

my mates (his name is hayden) set up has better boost control then mine... his ramps up and holds boost steady as. I put this down to the tial gate having a 1 bar spring where as mine has a much softer spring i think for street you'd want 4.1 gears and a an EBC to control the boost and give a nice progressive ramp rate. would be an awesome set up... hayden's car still looks fairly stock under the bonnet and the only thing that gives it away is the high mounted gate, if this was positioned much lower you could get away with all this on a street set up haha
-
both are good turbo's but the 3076 seems to do the job better. spool time and response is the same but makes more power, the 3071r capped out at around 280ish rwkw.
-
no prob! I havent driven the car much, just took it out to the track for the first time but i will say this... a lot of how driveable on the street 300 rwkw comes down to grip and diff ratios. My car had a 3.7 diff and grippy tyres, would not wheelspin any gear it just pulls and goes hard. my mates set up is a 4.3 and being an r32 with slightly less grip will bake 3rd in a roll on acceleration.... since our cars are drift cars i just changed my diff to a 4.3... found it to be a little too doughy with the 3.7.
-
prob 8 psi... like mine. its a 38mm gate yeah? lack of VCT wont be an issue once its tuned correctly. but in saying that if you do a lot of city driving you might miss a smidge of low down torque... i have a RPM switch that you could buy to control vct if your interested.

thats the one, i quite like them as in the past all ive used is dyno dynamics and had tyre rubbing issues and wheel spin issues. none of that with hub dyno's

done a bit more to the cage in prep for the comp this coming weekend -
no prob, my sig link has a lot of the build up info also. My set up is stock Neo 34 rb25 with AM Performance high mount manifold with merge collector, HKS 38mm gate with 3076 56t with the .6 surge slotted housing. .63 rear 4 bolt garret housing. the rest is basically bolt ons. running nisstune board on stock 34 ecu, fmic, larger injectors and so forth. my mates set up is a r33 RB25 and has exact same turbo as me, but with tial gate, stock rb25 manifold with am performance adaptor to low mount the turbo, adapter has port for wastegate which sits high up. runs a Rb20 ecu with chip, no vct. now my mates makes a few rwkw more then mine, both cars tuned on same dyno. however whats interesting to note is that mine makes more torque and earlier in the rev range, and less boost to do it also. Dyno is a dyna pack unit so all runs done without hitting limiter. Mine keeps climbing and making power right to the point where the dyno brake hits where as my mates makes peak power at 6000rpm then starts to fall off. i put this down to the exhaust manifold and cam differences with our engines. but rest assured for sub 300 rwkw they are awesome even for a basically stock 25 set up!
-
reuse it? at a minimum i would be binning the rod,s crank and pistons and starting with fresh items (good cond 2nd hand crank) with new rings and bearings, then you'll have a half decent engine...
-
full boost by 3700 rpm, peak torque of 480nm at wheels by 4000 rpm... strong midrange! to give an indication of its potential we had a boost spike on the dyno thanks to a hose blowing off the gate so it overboosted big time to 25 psi at 4900 rpm and made 320 rwkw at that rpm... crazy...
-
most of the nissan ones are interchangeable. the height vary;s tho. RB30 ones are much shorter then say an RB20 one, so best bet is to take yours out and go match it up with a new one. FWIW i run a RB30 R31 clutch hub with rb25 fan on my neo motor and bought the hub new for 80 bucks from motor traders
-
it sure can. both mine and a mates are pulling 296 ish rwkw at 6000 rpm. running the .63 rear housing also with 38mm gate.

lol mechanic hey... anyway test the gauge by earthing the blue black wire out on the chassis loom near the ecu. if the gauge moves all the way to H and beyond then it works and its the right wire. THEN use a multimeter and test the continuity between the plug on the single pin temp sender, and on of the blue/black wires in plugs opn the engine loom near the ECU plug. once you find the correct wire (the one with continuity) then solder it to the dash wire and it should work. if it still doesnt work then your temp sender is the wrong one or faulty

praccy day run and done.... only lasted 3 laps before issues. IO knew there was going to be heat issues with a high mount turbo so i bought some of that expensive heat sheathing stuff that you slip over your pipes and wiring. not cheap at 60 a meter and what do you know.. it doesnt work too well. The wiring loom for the oxy sensor melted together and shorted out which killed the engine out on the track. lucky was at the start line when it happened. so got back to the pits and sorted out the loom, was worried more was done and thats why it wouldnt start. once i unplugged the oxy sensor it started. so we thought all was good. repaired the wiring and relocated it well out the way then started it ready to go out again and noticed it was only running on 5 cylns checked all coil packs first up unplugging them one at a time with the motor running and found number 4 not running. pulled plug and pack out and tested for spark and that was ok... only thing left was fuel and we couldnt test the pulse for injectors at all since no one had a node light. pulled the CAS out with motor off and slowly turned it by hand and counted the injector clicks, only 5 clips per cycle.... hmmmmm checked wiring loom and went down to the ecu area and and soon as we stuck our head in there could smell that dreaded burnt circuit board smell... pulled it out and opened it up and sure enough.... a burnt transistor and injector driver for number 4 so that put an end to the night over all happy with the car, just need to fix the binding issues at lock and change the diff ratio and it should be sweet as! Jeff thinks he can repair the ecu so fingers crossed! couple pics from my 3 only laps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6O7hVcDme0 -

thanks mate! im a little peeved atm.... my mate just made 296 rwkw with same turbo, same sized gate, on a s2 R33 rb25 with better power up top, where as my neo comes on earlier and harder. lol im not seriously annoyed but its interesting to compare! he has no vct and an RB20det inlet cam in place thats the only difference
