  1. write a letter of complaint to DOTARS if you don't like the law. Just be grateful that most compliancers do the dodgy and offer to give you back your parts. It is illegal and they can get into a lot of trouble if they get caught, not to mention run the risk of losing their compliancing license. And no Marc, you can't do that. The car has to go from customs straight to the compliancer, you are at no point between those two stages supposed to even see or touch the car. Basically the rules were put in to stop people bringing in heavily modded cars and then compliancing them with those parts on. These strict rules wouldn't be in place if people didn't insist on circumventing more lax laws that existed beforehand. If you want to blame someone blame the people who rorted the system before you thought of doing the same.
  2. lol unfortunately I need to run OSX to do iPhone dev stuff, so I bought an official OSX cd for $25 and chucked it on my PC which I spent $138 on making compatible... as opposed to the cheapest, shittiest machine you can buy from apple that runs OSX which costs $800.
  3. ordered new carpet mats and colourmatched xenons for teh golf, made by hella, who make the factory headlights. pimpin.
  4. Awww yeah. just finished upgrading my hackintosh to OSX 10.6.3 and it all works! for shits n giggles I configured the same hardware on the apple site for the Mac Pro, they want $6899 for it! Not including the monitors! GTFO. Dual boot OSX and Win 7 FTMFW.
  5. it'd be sex with a 50 year old, but I guess it'd still count as gettin your dick wet.
  6. oh, guess it's a bit late to let ya know I get 20% off retail on Denso stuffs Pat
  7. they're just V35's with Infiniti badges, cos they're deemed cooler by some Japanese guys. Just make sure its a RHD and you'll be right, as all the real Infiniti G35's are LHD. Oddly in the US, some guys think it's cooler to have it badged Skyline. Grass is always greener on the other side I guess?
  8. Technically anything non ADR compliant on the car has to be replaced by a compliant part and the aftermarket part that was removed from the car has to be destroyed (not sold) by the compliancer. Whether or not that happens in reality is another matter. If I were you, make sure whoever is handling your importation does an inspection in Japan before the car leaves, and if possible give you an itemised list of aftermarket parts on it. Then when it gets through compliance, if the compliancer wants to run the risk, see if they'll give you those parts back.
  9. thought I saw a cube today on the way to work... didn't look right... got closer and it was a Toyota bB!
  10. ohh yeah, yup I've got those. how come some of you don't have em? I assumed even if you changed to aftermarket you'd retain the brackets?
  11. Barbs, just quietly, if I was counting the pennies, I'd seriously be willing to forgo the 0.1c that you generate in adview revenue in exchange for not having to trawl through your shithouse threads everytime someone reports your posts. I've got issues with the dropdown banner ads covering quicksearch forms and links to the control panel etc. as well, so I get what you guys are saying. it is a problem we'll look into.
  12. 15's = epic stretch tyres.

  15. I'm sorry, but this owns all hakobuckets and S30's... and then just to rub salt in datto's wounds, there's the more peasant version, the RA25 2000GT.
  16. oh yeah, forgot to mention, spotted CR34M sitting nice n cosy in the workshop when I went in last night.
  17. an R33 GTSt cost $40k in 1996. They were available for import since early 95. They started production in 93 in japan. I paid 25k for my 180sx in late 98. me and a few mates felt ripped off, so we started J-Spec Bought my first skyline in late 2000, met up with PranK etc (when I used to live in syd) decided to form a cruise club... called it SAU.... well first we called it Hybridz, but then we called it SAU
  18. Two of my mates are partners in the business (Craig and Ben aka blipman). I set up all the backend stuff with the auction house integration, used car dealership software and all that. I still do maintenance stuff for them these days, but I'm not involved in the running of it or anything. If you got a question tho I can make sure it gets bumped up the priority list But that's only for mates, not mates of mates.
