Why Can't We Have The Glanza!
funkymonkey replied to West's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
EP82 halfcuts are about 4k for everything you need. the EP82 and EP91 chassis' are the same so the older parts should bolt straight up... but apparently the EP91 turbo's are a lil faster. -

hmmm if it'll make you feel better, and I think I've told kristian (iron chef) this too... there is a way around getting fast altezza's. See in japan they sold the altezza in a hatchback/wagon, sorta like a impreza wagon, or an evo wagon. This car actually meets the criteria for the SEVS list, cos it meets power to weight, and has a unique silhouette. I dunno if they came with a BEAMS engine, but I'm fairly sure they came in a turbo (i'll have to check the docs)... think from memory they're all 4WD too. Although given the choice between a Caldina and an Altezza Wagon... hmmm. IS200's are still a rich man's corolla. There's a running joke in the curry community that a poor curry dad drives a camry (a rich dad would drive a "lexus" ES300), and his son drives a corolla, then when his son gets on a 40k+ salary he buys an IS200, thus still keeping the tradition. -
just added a lil note at the top of your post... the Le-Seyde's actually based on the design of a real classic car, a 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K. Also keep in mind these are made in japan's awesome "engineering standards"... and the chassis rails are extended by a couple of feet... and the front wheels are relocated. Here's some that we came across, I think we ended up buying one for a client: http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/8962 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/8125 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/4947 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/4023 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/3412 They also make the Galue, which has been based on the Nissan Crew, the Cedric and now the Fuga chassis'.

hmm... guess you should ring Driftline in melbourne... 0425855540 or www.driftline.com.au they've fitted a couple of copies of my 9 piece BN blister kit now my original's still in the shop... I'll fit it to my car one of these days. BTW, if its less than a 50mm extension, its not a widebody, its a fender flare

Coming To Australia?
funkymonkey replied to blinko's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
AFAIK import101 comply their own cars (under Global Motorworks) so I'm guessing at the end of the day its their call on what they can comply, what they can't and what liberties they can take during the compliance process. Dunno if its worth all the hassle of returning it to stock to bring it under SEVS... with a car like that, it'd be better off as a race import... but... kudos to them if they wanna put the hard yards (and time/labour) in to put it on the road. -

Dealing With Import Brokers
funkymonkey replied to Muz's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hmmm thanks NISMO for alerting me about this... if you guys are having trouble getting in touch with J-Spec, then its because they've been using the Golden Week holiday in japan (where everything over there almost shuts down) to relocate premises, which means the phones, emails etc might not be answered as quickly. Things should resume regular programming by Monday. well... that is if your concerns are actually with J-Spec... if not... well... lynch whoever the importer is you're having trouble with -

make no mistake.... I will BAN the next person that comes on here claiming that RB stands for "Race Bred". and wtf? the url is racebread.com ?? that's some fast dough! f**king american skyline fanboys n knowitalls... think I have more braincells than their collective in my left testicle. -
Here's a lil teaser I put together for the Series 1 R32 GXi, GTE, GTS, and GTSt's. There's also info on GTS4's, GTS25's and GTR's, plus Series 2 an V Specs (different volumes of the service manual so I'll have to combine the tables later). Now, do you guys find this info valuable, or should I not waste time tabulating this?

I still don't get the point of venting valuable nitrous to the air, other than bleeding the system of air... and if it was supposedly only for that, then it shouldn't last that long anyways. If you want it purely for wank factor, then just get a compressed tank of anything (diving tanks?) and plumb it up with a solenoid... then when you press a button it'll "vent".

Why Can't We Have The Glanza!

hehe as keen as kristian is on applying for new SEVS cars, i doubt there's any way he nor anyone else can make the EP91 appear on the SEVS list unless it came in a cabriolet form or some freaky shit like that. just buy a 4EFTE and jam it in a locally sold EP91 starlet n call it a day. Read this: http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_2345/article.html and go here: http://www.austarletclub.com to check out local conversions and other interesting stuff. -

no wai... then I couldn't give all the yuppies shit for driving a corolla with leather seats with a lexus badge I'd personally go the turbo Altezza myself, or even better a JZS161 Aristo with a Supra 3.0L Turbo 2JZ. -
under SEVS the only R32's to have been tested were Series 2 models (why would you test an older model anyways) so they all had factory side intrusion barsd. which means if you import a Series 1 R32, then you need to "upgrade" it to Series 2 specs. What worries me is that the pathetic excuse for side intrusion bars in the S2 R32's actually passed ADRs... that said your compliance would cost a lot more if the workshop had to test a custom made side intrusion bar for an S1 door, putting S2 doors on is the cheaper option.

because its not on the SEVS list... and the reason for that is possibly that the EP91 was sold locally in a not so cool version. If the chassis (with the same silhouette) is sold locally then it can't be imported under SEVS. you could possibly buy a locally sold EP91 and do a conversion using the parts etc. -
all I have to say is... lol fag americans (with 240sx's) and lol fag japanese guy trying to be american (with silver r34ish abomination) actually kudos to the first one... the silver one with GTR front... but the blue one... yes, lets pick the most piss boring R33 available (series 1 GTSt) and graft it onto an S14... that's a winner fo sheezy!

Intercoolers Kits That U Dont Have To Chop Up Your Car.
funkymonkey replied to 85URK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've got an Apexi one in mine... smaller than usual hybrid/chinabrand stuff, but flows great. Costs around $1500 for the kit but it uses stock piping and holes for most of it... go with the blitz ones... best value for money if you wanna be ADR friendly, although you still have to chop the reo in an R34 GTt with their kits. -
Japan Auto Direct
funkymonkey replied to gtraaron's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
The cars the guys at J-Spec list from JAD are always background checked from past auctions, dealerships etc... basically they try and get as much information about the cars from an independent source... usually helps negotiate a better deal from the supplier. So you'll find that not all of their cars are mirrored on the site, only the ones that pass the scrutiny There's also a good repor with the staff at JAD as they've negotiated on a fair few cars through them, instead of one off purchases if you dealt direct with them... this means there's no confusion on the quality of cars that JAD are expected to supply, coz if things go pear shaped with one car for a client, then they'd be increasingly reluctant to use JAD's services for future clients.
