  1. the switch in an R32 prevents power transfer to the front, most of the time it is in RWD mode. R33's and R34's use a second solenoid to maintain residual pressure in the pump so that the power transfer is faster, hence why you can't just kill it by pulling the fuse or wiring a switch in-line with the fuse. the G sensor's PWM is not the issue, the transfer of power to the front is mostly affected by the speed of the ATTESA pump... hence why in subsequent models they upgraded the pump system. my personal opinion is that upgrading the G Sensor is snake oil and a waste of money. once you turn off the solenoid you have to restart the car to make it active again... which is not something you do in an ordinary driving situation. You'd only flick the switch to do skids, some drifting or warming up tyres for drag or a 2WD dyno. In all those scenarios the speed at which you disable ATTESA is irrelevant. There are cheaper ways to intercept the PWM duty cycle from the sensor so it's not a permanent off till restart, these days you can use an Arduino for IO, about 20 years ago we used $50 circuit boards from JayCar. It's definitely not as exxy as $500+ for a Do-Luck unit.
  2. uhhh... BMW 5 series front? factory medalist V JZX100 lip Impul kit Cresta Lip, Club S sides and Rear lip V Factory Club S Type X Bloom japan full kit with Mark II bumper indicators Personally I love the Bloom Japan kit... makes it feel like the spiritual successor to the A31 Ceffy. http://bloomjapan.co.jp/laurel.html
  3. hey Sam! same here, just got back onto the forums after a long hiatus! got rid of my daily, looking to get one to tinker on... probably have enough spare parts int he garage to build another 32 GTR got a golf and an SQ5 these days with 2 baby seats!
  4. different shapes and locations. roofline is different.
  5. The upcoming movie is set around 1994 and the Japanese ninja character named Nightbird has an alt mode that is an R33 Skyline of some sort (probably GTS25t used in filming judging by the way itdrives in the on set footage, but meant to be a GTR) sporting a custom Pandem/Rocket Bunny wide body kit. I’d expect all the R33 whales to be harpooned over to the US once the movie releases given that they can import them 😁
  6. I was so close to getting this back on Nov. ticked all the boxes and was the rare metallic green. Second guessed myself thinking I should get a GT-R instead. Instant regrets
  7. I've owned 1 R32 GTS Type X, 1 R32 GTSt, 2 R32 GTRs, 1 R32 GTS4 and 1 R32 GXi (with an SR20DET swap) in the past (plus a bunch of silvias/180sx's, a cefiro and an AE86). I know the pain I'm getting myself into with 80's/90's cars I've got an Audi SQ5 for daily. I want something to tinker on with no specific purpose other than just owning another R32 for nostalgia sake. Great advice. I wish I had a questionable stream of income.
  8. watching stuff that skid factory do is definitely influencing my want to tinker. I'd love to take all the knowledge i have about the R32, and all the modern stuff that I've got access to now because it's commodity or I've got a little more disposable income compared to 10 years ago, and make my own modern take on a 32. Plus I just clocked 40 years so my mid-life-crisis boner is rock solid.
  9. leaning towards GTS4 too. I regret selling my 1992 GTS4 about 10 years ago for $8000 😭
  10. Going to start looking around for an R32 to tinker on. It's been at least 8 years since I sold my last 32 and I'm starting to feel like an R32 Yoda with no light-sabre. Should I buy a GTR and leave it as it is with a proper refresh, or should I buy a GTSt or GTS4 and pull everything out and restomod it? GTR is getting smashed by american fanboys snapping up even rusted out shitheaps for premiums, while the non GTRs seem to be going relatively cheaper without markups/competition. Non GTRs have sunroofs! I'd love to pull out all the antiquated ECUs and sensors, for lols switch the clunky gearbox to maybe a BMW gearbox with a paddle shift, hell I'd even love to switch to a bullet aluminium block and build the engine up at some point. The more of these "mods I like to try" I think of, the less of an original GTR I want to retain. I've got spare GTR quarter panels, hood, dash, grille, indicators etc accumulated over a decade of owing all flavours of R32s. I've got a daily driver that's fun to drive and really buying an R32 is really just to get back to my youth and tinker, learn and share. I dunno if I'd be satisfied with just leaving something stock. It'd be cool to go on a spirited drive from time to time, but reality is with 2 kids that need baby seats any outing with the family is in the SUV. I can count on one hand the number of times I've driven anywhere on the weekend solo. I don't commute to work due to working from home. Takig the car out will probably be just for cruises, SAU events, the occasional track day.
  11. The AMG is definitely a cut above the standard A45. I‘m a fan. Congrats. been eyeing off an AMG GLE63 to replace the SQ5, still tossing up between that, a Cayenne GTS and a bigger Audi, either the SQ7 or SQ8.
  12. whoops, wrong topic
  13. $8k USD... bargain
  14. Not sure either, it's 100% china brand bar. Ideally I want the Caractere kit out of Belgium, but no distributors for it here in oz https://www.caractere.com/products/audi/audi-q5-2013-8r2/ You know it'll be a good fit cos they have different versions of the bumpers for the different factory options. No hacking around.
  15. Probably gonna change the bumper to this while I'm at it: https://marsperformance.com.au/RS-Q5-Style-Front-Bumper-Bar-Chrome-Black-Honeycomb-Grille-AUDI-Q5-8R-13-16 just gotta make sure it plays nice with the radar drive assist
  16. Ha, so just after I posted this, some dude in a truck just reversed into my front quarter and bent it yesterday. great... off to the panel shop, luckily no major damage. I just had a look on carsales to suss out market value, there's not many in the spec I have and with the low k's mines has.
  17. When I was selling my Cefiro this was hot on the list alongside the Mark II. Still regret not buying it. It’s essentially a R34 sedan with luxury styling. Love it. Great buy and will be looking forward to following what you do with it so I can live vicariously through your adventures. Welcome! PS: If you’re gonna modify the aero, please don’t put a Uras kit on it… see if you can hunt down the elusive Impul kit for it.
  18. energy market's fuarked atm.
  19. other things you can do to help build a relationship and lower the price... this car has obviously been a passion project for Jordan who use premium parts to build what in his mind would have been a demonstration of his abilities as a mechanic... much like a dealer demo car that comes loaded with all the options to make you fall in love with the model. this is his workshop demo car. that means he's not goign to build a hand-grenade that's fragile, he'll build something he can stake his reputation as a new workshop on. ask him if the car can have his workshop name stuck to it, and ask for a bunch of business cards so you can send business his way. also commit to going along with him in the car that he built to any shows and events to help him promote the business. then ask for a discount
  20. This is the car being built... https://www.instagram.com/tv/CddpIM_pzIB/ here's the social account for Jordan, who owns Motion Autoworks and the car, with a build log: https://www.tiktok.com/@jm_barnard he's had the workshop since 2020, so you'd assume the car's only been built in the last 2 years. couple of pics of it being well looked after: he's moved on to building an Evo, so he obviously needs the cash for it. the car itself is well built using commonly used but quality parts. that's good because if there's any failures you can just go get a replacement part. it doesn't look like there's any bespoke custom built parts. the car is built to withstand 900hp hooning around, so if you treat it well and don't thrash it like the previous owner, and also if you run it detuned on petrol instead of metho, you should be fine from a reliability point of view as the stress on the upgraded parts won't be as much. however if you're going to be pushing it to its limits then expect to need to refresh those parts regularly. the good thing is that you can always take it back to the guy who built it, providing you maintain a good relationship with him. This then comes to the price, if you lowball him on price he'll obviously try to recoup any perceived losses in the maintenance. Pay a fair price and make a friend and you'll enjoy not just a nice car but someone who can help you take care of it. As for the price itself, the price of skylines is volatile in Aus, so it's pretty hard to comment. we've got no context of the UK, so any commentary would be speculative. have a look around for a standard GTS25t of the same year etc and take that as your base price. Then add all the labour costs. If the mechanic was good with his cashflow or has a good accountant he'd have written all the parts cost off as a business cost. So really his lowest price that he cannot go below is base price of car plus labour cost. Keep in mind the cost of the car would have been low if he purchased it with a blown motor or something that prompted the build in the first place. Plus there's primer on the chassis above the front right wheel, so that hints at a crash at some point. It's concerning that the car has a red chassis and grey panels, so you'd assume it's had a very rough past. However, in the hands of this mechanic it's really been restored to like-new.
  21. 2015 MY16 model, 85000km on it now. So far so good. Had it for 5 years. No major faults, think the only thing that ever popped up was an intermittent fault in the headlight caused by a bulb that was blown lol.
