  1. I just got the pun about the "manual in the stag." Some of us (ie. me) are a bit slow around here. Maybe that's what they mean when they say auto's are a bit slow on the uptake...and I thought it was just the cars, not the owners! Age is finally catching up with me.
  2. On Monday at 7.45am, I was pulling out of a shopping centre on the corner of Logan and Nursery Roads Mt Gravatt. I was polite and let two cars go in front of me and then as I pulled up at the lights I saw a silver S1 parked two cars ahead in the other lane - so I was a bit cheesed off that I could have been park right along side. Rego was 578 something. and had a website address on the rear window.
  3. Hey there, it's 1inthefront here. I would like to buy my husband - 3intheback - a rear swaybar for the S2 for his 40th birthday in October. Is the group buy still on? I cant quite afford front and rear bars, but it seems that to replace the rear is the best place to start. Thanks for your help, this will put a big smile on his face and also to minimise the impact of hitting 40!
  4. They're even easier the second time around as most of your clips have been broken so the door trim should come off easily... he he he. I removed mine once a few months back and took photos of the whole process so I could post it up in the DIY section...but I havent yet as I only learnt how to post a picture a few weeks back. so I''m not much help to you.
  5. A dry auto will take a bucket load more oil then one thats been drained for a service as a lot of oil will stay in the lines leading to and from the cooler, plus in the cooler itself, plus a couple of litres in the torque converter. Thats why no dealer can tell you how much to put in becasue you dont know how much was left in there. Draining as per AC's post above helps drain a bit more. The only fill point on any box I've seen is thru the dip stick. Use a funnel and get comfortable as it is a slow process. Then use the dipstick to check while engine running in neutral. Check about 5 times, cause you wont be able to read it.
  6. type in 'got dish" in the 'search entire post' and you'll find plenty of previous discussion on this topic.
  7. This is generally the point - to keep the heat in. I am led to believe that keeping the heat in makes the exhaust gases flow faster. Conversely, as they cool they slow down. High flow is important for the first few feet of the pipe after the turbo - which is why you will notice an increase in torque when you put on a 3" dump/front. The main reason to use some form of insulation is the keep heat out of the engine bay - noticed where your A/C pipes are? Noticed how hot the A/C gets when you hold it on boost for awhile? The front pipe is under the car and subsequently exposed to the elements so any form of wrap will absorb a lot of moisture and is open to getting hit/scrapped. The major problem with a metal heat shield is stopping it from rattling. I dont see how you can wreck SS with wraps, that is why everyone uses it. It just looks nicer and more hardcore when it can be seen.
  8. The Stagea is my first foray into the world of RB engines, so I dont know a lot about their reliability, except that they seem to have plenty. So how is 129K considerd high k's? I know that in peoples "I'm in the market to buy" mind, that 200K seems to be a threshold but 120K in todays modern engine is just past well run in. My Toyota 7MGE was sold with 400K on the clock and still orginal except for two head gaskets. Then again it was only pushing out 150KW.
  9. If the dump pipe is mild steel then the wraps will make it rust quicker then normal. You can also try to cover the general area with metal sheets like the orginal - nice stuff to use is the heat sheild that comes on AU Falcons - you can buy uncut sheets of it from places like Repco. It has a nice waffle pattern.
  10. Fortunately the specs are still in numbers which you can understand - if you can convert PS to KW to HP. And Y to $. As for the 'Glossary". Since I'm the moderator of it: 1. It was only meant to be a definition list of acronyms - not a comprehensive dictionary. 2. I am happy to post up new definitions if you see I have missed any. 3. There are better sites written up by smarter people with more time on their hands and prettier, moving pictures explaining engine dynamics - products of a misspent youth. 4. There's nothing wrong with asking the 'dumb' questions on this forum, someone will always reply with a constructive answer, devoid of patronising remarks - all part of being in the Stagea Family (now there is a thread that needs to be revived) 5. A friend and I are in the middle of compiling a CD from dozens (literally) of articles on modifying and tweaking your car, collected from a misspent youth and ten years of various performance magazines. - watch this space.
  11. Unless they are fraid with holes in them, then just wash them.
  12. We've got kids (3) and we know that either 1. you packed the car the night before and had the kids sleeping in the car, or 2. you got up before the crack of dawn, or 3. Your kids are old enough to pack themselves, or 4. you're pulling a swift one on us. Either way it is a sweet ride with the kids - they squeal with delight when you go fast around the bends. I was fully loaded (aka Silverback style) and still managed to keep with an XR6 turbo from the Gateway Bridge toll booth last Sunday. My favourite stretch of road...any one with my wife holding my hand. (not so tight baby, I cant hold opposite lock when you cut off the blood flow)
  13. I would like to see pics of them. I pulled my S2 apart a while back and couldnt find any filters - just the vent where the recirc air is sucked in. (right up behind the airbag) It was uncovered so I made up a filter an installed it to cover the vent.
  14. I couldnt see any for sale in Hyper Rev Vol 67. All M35's come with no rails - just a raised ridge where the rails were. A lot of the Stageas featured in Hyper Rev had the inserts but I couldnt see any listed in picture as a separate sale item. I dont read nipponese so I dont know if they just come with the full body kit. However, the cars that had the inserts were from: freeway-dolpin.co.jp impul.co.jp altia.co.jp happy hunting...
  15. Is it for real or more digital animation - who cares.
  16. Oh well Gary, at least you put more thought into your engine/suspension/brakes etc design.
  17. Hey Brad, what were your other 2 or 3 past lifes.
  18. Just thought we could all spend some quality family time together and share on the meaning behind our user names. As the Care Bears say, "Sharing is Caring" So I'll start the ball rolling... ... it would seem fairly obvious - we have three kids. What became the 'almost' sole justification for buying the Stagea was because we could fit 3 baby seats across the back seat. (Plus it goes hard) I was toying with two other user names: Mellow Yellow or Righteous Rocker, but they seemed a bit pretentious. P.S. You can actually see a (bad) reflection of the 1inthefront in my avatar. I will add a piccy here as soon as the system stops freezing each time I try to add an attachment.
  19. Those of you from Brissy will remember a certain news reporter, a few years back, who used this same expression on the 6.00pm news when he didnt realise that he was back on air. Funny, he doesnt work there anymore...
  20. Tried the search - you have to wade thru so much crap and still not find what ur lookin for. What keywords should I use??
  21. I think it is just that the R34 original housing is further away in the photo. On the far left you can see the divided flange I bought and it matches perfectly with both housings around the inside edges. I suppose the proof of what works best, will be in the pudding. ATM I am running the standard dump pipe on the new (divided) housing so it sounds like passing wind when the wastegate opens...quite embarrassing really.
  22. The above photos were my first ever succesful picture posting on this forum. And I have been a member since last November. Soo woohoo to me ! Since I'm on a roll, heres a couple more. Not bad for a stocko phone camera. P.S. Tangles I may have the 34 housing you're looking for....
  23. I ve seen the above comment made a couple of times and would like to know just exactly where they are different. I'm mid way thru a DIY Split dump pipe setup on my S2 Neo (so would be an R34 turbo) and I have installed my mates rear housing from his R33 because he had already done the hard work of putting in the divider between the wastgate and turbine. I honestly couldnt 'see' any difference in size. Was I wrong to do this? He has also gone to a lot of effort to machine out the housing from the turbine blades out to the edge of the housing.
  24. It's good to see everyone on this thread has fixed their problems and have cheered themselves up. But it seems the temp knob is still feeling a bit depressed. Com'on guys - make your knobs' day. Pucker up little fella
  25. I'll get straight to the point. 1. Does an RB20 fuel rail fit an RB25? 2. Do GTR injectors fit the RB20? 3. Are GTR injectors the same resistance as RB25's? cheers Waz
