  1. R32 GTR PWR, PM me with your suburb and i will send you in the right direction, There are only 1 or 2 people that are actually good installers in the northern suburbs of melbourne. Most of them are butchers. Also, the most important thing to consider when getting a security device is that your insurance company will cover it. Check with your company first EXACTLY what they require. They are all slightly different.
  2. With current readily available technology, and of course the availability of stuff on the internet, tech drawings, parts suppliers, anything that emits some type of radio signal can be jammed. In europe recently, security and fleet management systems have trialled TDMA ( Time division multiple access), even on the higher TDMA frequencies interference and jamming is possible and achievable. Hence TDMA, CDMA, WCDMA dropped in Europe for sources of reliable tracking and fleet management. Unfortunately in todays world if someone wants your car bad enough it will be stolen. Remember when dealing with security products DO NOT GO AROUND TELLING PEOPLE WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR CAR. You might just tell the wrong person.
  3. I think this is the info you are looking for..
  4. I am sure the owners of these cars will thankyou for the service you have provided. Skylines get knocked off enough as it is. Great work. Let me make this point clear. I do not currently work as an installer, I do not currently work in a Car Audio or security shop. I left that long ago and graduated to the big leagues. So let me tell you about one of things I do for money. I work as a consultant to a couple of Major insurance companies here in Australia. I assist them when cars have been stolen/ recovered and there is a dispute relating to the insurance claim. My job specifically see's me looking at cars with security devices installed. As you are obviously aware, to be covered by insurance you will need an Australian standards immobiliser or better fitted to the car. Great, so you buy your product from ebay or jb to save a couple of bucks, then fit it yourself. WHEN your car is stolen, you make your claim, you have a product receipt, you dont have an install receipt. You say you put it in yourself. 1st question - Do you have a current NSW security licence? No? dont got one - CLAIM VOID NO MONEY OR CAR 2nd Question - Do you have a certificate or accreditation from the Alarm manufacturer? No? dont got one - CLAIM VOID NO MONEY OR CAR 3rd Question - Have you got more than 5 years industry experience in this (nsw) or other states within Australia? No, CLAIM VOID - NO MONEY OR CAR So, please dont beleive me, save a few bucks up front, cars dont get stolen that often and you are always going to park it in a "safe" place. We were just trying to provide some honest advice that may help you to keep your car safe, but please disregard that. Maybe next time you are on google you could post up all the threads from all the import forums of all the skylines that are stolen never to be seen again because the owner "saved a few bucks".
  5. I still stand by this. Oh, and as a side note, if your "professional installer" uses a cheat sheet, wiring diagram or the likes, then take your car somewhere else. You would be suprised at the low skilled people who pass themselves off as alarm installers. With the end result being the alarm has no effectiveness and makes the car easy to steal.

    Engine Builders

Just remember this little piece of advice when trying to save "a couple of bucks" building a motor fast + cheap = not good good + cheap = not fast good + fast = not cheap My pick would be P+P Performance in Wagga Wagga. No one in Victoria compares to them, has won as many accolades around the country or has built motors anything like they do.
  7. Just remember the basics. SHOP AROUND. Tyre places make a huge margin on tyres, usually 38% to 59% Gross profit. If they tell you its " a great deal" and they cant do it, they are usually lying because they do not want to drop below their profit margin. They know every tyre place is the same and wont want to drop below the same point. The way to get a good deal is to call around, get prices and play them off each other. Use Bob Janes " GED - Get every deal" code ( this is what they put low gp sales under and store level so the salesperson still get commission). Once you start to learn the way their business's work it is not to hard to exploit them for your gain. Works the same everywhere. ( well, nearly everywhere)
  8. How to check. 1 - Get yellow pages. 2 - look up professional alarm technician 3 - Book in car 4 - Take car to alarm technician 5 - pay money for a professional to fix it. Why? Well, your car is not even close to being raod worthy with that set up. But with that aside, An alarm when installed and working correctly could be your last line of defense against some scum bag theif who wants your car as much as you do..
  9. ok, let me just point something out to you. NO CAR IS UNSTEALABLE. Your 1997 R33 Series 2 showing 60,XXX km, with pod filter and cat back 3" exhaust is no exeption. And the northern beaches area is definately not the place to be telling people what alarm you have in the car. Got my point?
  10. a little more info needed. do you have SWS-1222D Type-S 12" Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer (2Ohm + 2Ohm) or SWS-1242D Type-S 12" Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer (4Ohm + 4Ohm) Depending on the woofers you have the wiring configuration will be different. Let me know and I will work it out for you, find you an amp and refer you to a dealer for a great price. As for 1 ohm, there are amplifiers that will comfortably run at 1 ohm. They are specific D class monoblocks. You must remember though, the lower you go in load (ohms) the less precise your power will be. Meaning, that if you are after flat out sound, 1 ohm is fine. If you are after sound quality you would be better wiring them at 4 ohm. One thing to remember. Stay away from really cheap dodgy amps. You know the ones, rated at 11 million watts pmpo and selling for $99.00 at your local crap shop.
  11. Hi Guys, I found this add tonight while looking for stuff on the net.. Gotta say, some great buys to be had..
  12. I have always found a BIG DRILL and a couple of well placed HOLES do the trick. Just be sure to seal the holes in the kickpanels, you dont want your ecu getting wet..
  13. Yep, got all the things a car thief would love, remote start! Basically, find the module, trigger the remote start and the theif doesnt have to hot wire the car. If you want to make your car harder to steal REMOVE the remote start module. Not to mention that remote start is also Illegal and WILL void your insurance. This topic has been covered a few times before, but for some more information, please check this out. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=109240
  14. If you are happy with the Fusion Gear you currently have why dont you check out the new Fusion Encounter Range. Good Bang For Buck and you would be able to score an amp with 4 speakers for under $500 at the moment, Eg. Encounter En- am6004 ( encounter 4 channel amp) $269.00 en-cm65 ( encounter 6" splits) $99.00 en-fr653 9 encounter 6" 3 ways) $69.00 Saw all these products on display the other day at my Local REPCO. Gotta say, they sound awesome. I had to ask the guy if they had botched the prices.. but no, they are right...
  15. most of the good installers have either left strathfield of their own accord or been "performance managed" out of the business due to them being expensive. read what you want into that...
  16. then you my friend are a very rare breed within that company.
  17. Believe me they can. As part of the employment agreement they get their low paid workers to sign it states they must not have outside employment. Over the years many employee's have had their employment terminated for outside employment.Technically they can not write this as a reason on the termination notice. They write breech of company policy. Same as when they catch someone for stealing. Either way, with Strathfield this is a FACT.
  18. One word. FUSION. If you want good quality relaible products check out their encounter range. If you want to go something a bit more go for the powerplant range. If you would like the best deal on Fusion PM me and I will refer you to a Fusion specialist.
  19. That lifetime warranty strathfield offer is a must. THE WORK IS SO BAD YOU WILL NEED IT! oh, and as for working there and doing jobs on the side, i am fairly sure under their company policy you will get sacked when they find out. They got rid of Lorenze and the other cronies, dont think you are immune. thorpe84, Tell me what part of Melbourne you are in and I will refer you to a installer, not a strathfield butcher!
  20. and then go buy your self a new alarm that doesnt default to valet mode when the pwer is dropped.
  21. A Victorian TMU car fitted with the FE2 type holden "sports" suspension is under the minimum ride height for victoria at all times regardless of load. The suspension lowers the vehicle to 94mm. Pity I havent got myself a uniform and a gun... But, interestingly enough most road worthy testers test the vehicle unladen. The Information from Vicroads does not specify the car must be loaded. It must only clear the height and travel requirements. I have always explained this to any Police officer who was nice enought to want to look at my car. I also have a print of the Vehicle standards information from vicroads in the car. No where in this entire document does it say i must be in the car. However... When you are doing this, be nice, professional in your approach and becareful not to be to defiant, you can be charged for failing to obey a policeman. Unfortunately it is once again a case of a motorist/car owner having to prove themselves innocent by getting a roadworthy from either the police not knowing the law or using their "discretion" and applying penalty where no penalty is due. You have to remember poor old "johhny copper" here's a thousand bulls**t stories as to why the car is legal. How can he beleive yours? Either way from their point of view or ours it is a no win situation.
  22. Dont you have cabinet makers etc in the west? But really, to describe how to custom mould dashes etc isnt exactly the easiest task, in fact a botched custom job will look awful. My advice, if you dont know what you are doing, dont try to get advice in words from a forum. Seek out the help of a professional custom installer, pay for his/ her time and end up with a car that is worth showing off, not hiding in shame. Take it from me, i've only been in the game 11yrs or so...
  23. What i mean is to have thicker cable between the alternator and the battery so that more current is allowed to pass to the battery and help to charge the car more efficiently.
  24. you can just cut the wore going to the ECU or you can make you own speed cut defender with a 12volt relay. relay wiring 30 - ecu 87a - speed limiter wire from car 87 - no connection 85 - speed limiter wire from car 86 - 12 volt fused power basically when you hit 180k, the relay kicks in a takes the limiter out but for normal driving the limiter is still in place and nothing else is effected. Warning - No warrantyor guarantee, implied or other is offered with this information, Use at your own risk!
  25. This thread is pointless. Give it a couple of weeks and we will all read about the sad story of a skyline being involved in an "accident" whilst bouncing off the rev limiter in the wet...
