  1. your red 4 door when it had the XD9s on it was its pinnacle for me. but im a 32 fan. i still cant belive that i didnt buy that 4 door back in the day. i had 2 chances to.
  2. hi all. i had to replace my buggered stock steering wheel with a after market wheel and boss kit but i really dont like having a A/M wheel on a stock car. im wondering if anyone would like a wheel and boss in exchange for a stock r32 wheel. can be gtst or GTR solong as the leather is ok. the a/m wheel is an imola leather wheel much like the generic momo race wheel. and the boss is to suit r32 only. let me know what you have. possibly willing to buy a stock wheel if you have one laying around.

i would have 1 or 2 laying around. you could pic it up when you come up for the rest of the bits. haha.
  4. im keen to stay on the road for once. we werent stupidly slow without a teratrip either. but i never want to do that again.
  5. you could use a R31 skyline or pintara indicator stalk. All the australian nissans around the 88-90 mark had the same column switch. it is the indicator and high beam dip stalk as well as the headlights off-park-on switch. and it twists at the end of the stalk. from memory it would screw straight on. im not familiar with the mounting of the r33 stalk but it would definatly be a more moddern looking switch. the r33 switch is common with most mid 90s australian nissan cars as well so it would only be a matter of getting one out of a mid 90s pulsar from the wreckers if you cant find a r33 one.
  6. oh very good on the G1 win. about time youve been around for ages. (thats a good thing) i was watching zero traction DVD only a few days ago. id never seen it. plenty of you in your old ceffy. and i think ive got the dvd that had you drving a eight six back in the full lock days. so how many years have you ben competing? whats been the best car and best highlight?
  7. if this fits as easy as its looking and looks good it will be a hot new mod. big kudos for giving somthing new a go. and its in typical nissan fashion to make things off the same base. the best thing about them is how lazy they are. they never try to re invent the wheel with every new model. good job
  8. i love the idea of a project like this. if you take a moment to browse through an aray of online picture sites it is pretty hard to find a totaly original one off r32 that isnt totally out there. its just a fact of life that just about every set of wheel and every type of kit has been fitted by more than one person so somthing new is always good because there will alway be plenty of original good examples around. one thing i notice if i park my 32 in a car park, as it sits at the moment, that even thoe the shape and style are light years ahead of cars of a similar age they are starting to look old amongst 2010 cars. a face lift with a r34 front and some new interior styling wouldnt go astray. by the way do you have a link to more details of the r34 style skirts and rear pods for r32? they are very nice and i think Roy's car would be the idea candidate for them.
  9. its good to see the power gains. can i ask why your running a 50/50 mix? what are the gains over E85?
  10. So some time in late 06 i brought my first import that came a sad demise. then i got a track car that i still have now and have just recently brought my newest addition. a R32 4 door. its only stock at the moment and the body is about as rough as the old silver one but its factor manual and it a daily driver but ive already spent a few hours fixing bits here and there. a friend of mine is fixing and prepping a new front bar boot lid and a few other parts to help turn this into just a nice streeter for now. i just read through the old thread and geeez ive learnt a lot since then but my passion to keep tinkering with skylines hassent faded. Between 4 of my good friends we own 9 r32s and a few wrecks and enough surplus parts to keep them running. There is 2 original parts that live on from my silver 4 door. the diff which is in my drift car and a passenger side mirror that was removed for replacement gannadoors which is now fitted to my new 4 door after having some stuff fall on the it in my shed braking the its mirror.
  11. same process just on a lazer wheel aligner so you see the change in toe camber at the same time on a screen. very easy.
  12. after months of deciding on an eye catching look for bens car we decided to copy this it also ties in well with the animal theme that his dad started with the tiger.
  13. Thanks for a detailed reply. id been reading and taking notes on setups that i had seen recently. UAS use the non hicas pick up and so do drift works in the UK. a mate of mine was playing with his car on a lazer aligner the other night with his rear bump steer and he found his setup with a lock bar and factory arms wasnt to far out for 0 bump steer. he did move it thoe. It brought me to the conclusion that when i finish off my modded sub frame what ever toe arms i pick ill set up the mounting points on an aligner purely because it can all differ depending on what arms and roll centre mods are used. your hub end design is by far the best ive seen sofar.
  14. thanks mate. lets see what the Tax man brings. maybe a new turbo.
  15. hey Brad. have these arms been designed to bolt up the to Non Hicas bolt holes or the factory hicas bolt holes. i would assume that they have been designed to pick up the non hicas as the other hicas point would put the arms in the wrong spot for bump steer.
  16. your name is Richard. you cant get much more gay than that...... ive tried...... and you just cant. thanks mate. i love where the car is heading and i usually live under that rule that its better off to be going and competing in events than sitting in the shed waiting to be finished, so its a never ending project. thanks for the Props Homo. i have had people complement the car saying its uniquely styled in the past. its not exactly what i envisioned sometimes either but its what i can make myself in my shed so thats all that counts. And unfortunately the CST's have to go to make way for other things. And to actually update this thread i have a new date to fix everything up ready for another crack at drifting. September 11th. apparently there is a major one off drift event being held with extra stuff on the side so ill be aiming for it.
  17. +1 for that. hang on were talking about me. na im to soft now. no turbo yet. playing with the new car to much.
  18. A few snap shots from the motorkhana. Ready to be abused. Note: part of the front lip missing due to Ben me pondering what strip club to visit tonight Me explaining how to use the "E" brake to one of the renta-drive drivers. haha
  19. got some pics from the past few weeks. first i made the new dash cluster above. then i made a new gauge holder to go where the centre vents go to hold the Apexi RSM for my speed read outs and a HKS exhaust temp gauge that didnt quite fit in with all the other gauges. and just before anyone asks i like having a miss match of gauges. its a bit like my rim choice. anybody can buy a set of somthing but it takes time to acquire individual items to make a set. i used my old aluminum cluster as a skeleton for the new carbon one then i layed the carbon over the frame and worked out where i wanted everything. once again the carbons on an angle as i dont like things to be to normal. In the weeks leading up to the motorkhana i had some thinking time so i pulled out all my bars i had decided to turn the type M bar into my custom TA bar as it has far bigger side openings than the GTR bar. the idea was to make a lower lip and attach it all to a splitter/ under tray. but before work could begin on the type M bar i brought this. my New daily. pretty stock and in average nick inside and out just what i was after. Ben inspecting the power house. he loves 20s. if you look you can see the list that i started for what needed to be achieved over the queens birthday long weekend we gutted the inside and fitted a ton of new trims. all gathered up out of our supplies between 4 friends. to top it off it got GTR front and read seats. brand new gear and hand brake boots. original gear knob. near new centre trim. new cluster. new cluster surround. new LH vent. new glove box. new centre console lid (thanks race car) a new door trim and one new complete door. some speaker covers and a greddy a pillar gauge holder with HKS boost gauge. the type M bar and a spare de-spoilered boot lid are off getting ready for paint. some 4 door pods are also due to arrive soon. there is a few small plans in store for this car but it will all come in time. we had some spare time tonight so ben and i fitted one of his spare exhausts up as the one on the car was cheap rubbish and droned like an excel. while the exhaust was off i found that the cat had been gutted and a straight pipe welded in so we will be changing that back to a stock item soon.
  20. I see the above as more of a bandaid fix. we run water spray on one of our circuit cars and have found since data logging the intake coolant and oil temps that it is crutial to put the misters in the right place and its not where you would think. another local car used to have water spray. then added the water meth getting good results and has now removed the water spray. water spray also doenst give any where near the actual performance gains seen by water meth. so engine reliability and performance gains is hardly a band aid. not having a go just pointing out that i have data to show the gains one on one.
  21. i know of half a dozen race cars in my area using it. the kits have all come from the states and are grate to install. come with all necessary bits and pices. i know of a few different branded ones being used all with similar results. well worth it for any track car thats for sure. anything that can lower the intake temps ect is good. and id say running the stock cooler will also help. while they dont do a bad job they tend to get heat soak on the track.
  22. thoes lights would look grate on Bens Rice kitted R i heard hes got a set of 22inch chromies coming for it. whos planing on doing wrest point?
  23. Ok i dont really see why the drift works car is much different. they have modified the front end for a better drift setup. do you actualy have any data or proof that they are drifting with much different lock to yourself. It doesnt say that they only have 45deg of lock or any amount of lock and who is to say that the 32 front end wasnt modified before this meaning it already had tons of lock and the s14 setup gave no more lock (but how much lock???????????????) than the r32 setup BUT did give better ackerman. its like trying to do algebra at school. 2xL=A. If you already have the maximum out of the r32 setup and belive heavily that if you had S14 front it would be even 5% better than go that way. Id be thinking that you should have a talk with a suspension gooroo about how to mount it all thoe as the drift works car has the struts sitting back on a fair angle meaning the geometry change on the wheel is probably far more superior than the s14 factory setup. the Key to the whole project woul be to actualy graph the wheel angles and changes made with bump steer and alike but as you throw in every new variable like camber toe and castor on top of shock top mounting you are going to have a tone of data to map. Its ok to say im going to use fancy pants bushes and lengthened arms but do you know what that will achieve? not with out starting from a single point. so unless you become mates with someone that has already done all this and can had you over all the relevent data than you will have to be a pioneer and take the error with the trial. as far as McPherson V Double wish bone. double wish bone is superior for circuit but there is no proof to say that McPherson or D Wishbone is better for drift as there isnt any top level drift teams paying thousands for a race suspension engineer to plot all the data talked about above between a McPherson strut and D wishbone set up on any one car. all you can go off is what top teams around the world are doing what. my guess would be that 90% of the leading world wide teams would be running McPherson. so in my conclusion for your actual Question would be that McPherson is the better option for drifting. if drifting is your main focus and your unhappy with your current setup. change it.
  24. after reading that thread on the drift works car it was interesting to see that they didnt achieve any more absolute lock than the r32 setup but improved the ackerman. which can be achieved by some NP modded r32 knuckles see talked my self out of it again
  25. Dooo Iiiitttt. check out this link for some basic info and while the bloke went a bit over the top with the tubbing its still the go. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/63666-taff-tune...huge-no-no.html I looked into once or twice but keep being talked out of it. If you do doit thoe be sure to use s14 or s15 stuff for multiple reasons ill get to. its all a bit of reverse engineering to get to just how easy it is. if you put a Rb engine in a S chassis than you change the cross member. but you dont need to change the lower control arms. so first off the S chassis lower contol arms will fit right in. the castor rods mount up the same between the r32 and S chassis so you put in some S14 lower control arms (longer than S13) and use the r32 castor rods. Note. ive never confirmed this but apparently the taper on the ball joints is different between S14 and R33 lower control arms. other than that they are near identical. put in your modified knuckles and some coil overs. ive never gotten to the part of where to mount the top hats of the coil overs and after seeing the drift works link im surprised by how far back they are. With my personal experience chasing lock. add lock spacers (first thing) re-centre the rack. the first thing you hit is the chassis rail. A bash it with a hammer. B put GTR guards on and push out the track with r33 lower control arms. then modify the lock stops. and move the rack forward, hard mounted to bracketry. with the rigth wheel size and offset the next place you will rub is the foot wells. the best thing ive found thoe is having the room within the GTR guards. Also Nigel Petery is making modded knuckles for a r32 if you did do it make sure you run S14 knuckles as the s13 knuckles flex with big brakes on them as friends of mine have found. i could go on but thats enough for now.
