  1. Yes softer rear suspension will contribute to understeer. I would recommend you put on Bilstein shocks at the front if your current ones are buggered. As said previously, stiff coilovers will just make it understeer more. Plus stiffen up your rear suspension, eg stiffer rear springs.
  2. Very nice, the extra 2psi makes a good consistent increase everywhere on the RB20! Great job My expectation is that on the RB25 it might make more power down low-mid but drop off to the same max power as the turbo runs out of efficiency.
  3. Has anyone got a dyno sheet comparing say 10psi and 14psi. Would be very interesting to see how much more power it makes?
  4. Ok talked my old man into buying an air gun with a set of 6 sided sockets!! Wow it made the job sooo easy. Only thing was I had to remove another suspension part on each side to get to the second sway bar bolt in the middle. Not sure what its called but at the front with a massive bush. No way I could have got these two parts off without an air gun with the car only on ramps. Not enough clearance to get enough force on normal sockets. Now I am trying to convince my old man to get a hoist hehe
  5. Yep should have said just take it off.
  6. If I assume overall performance means street/drag strip and a bit of fun on a track I would recommend you to buy that suspension above! I have it too and its fantastic! Cost me a lot more than that as well. Then get some adjustable sway bars and adjust them depending on what you are using it for. Track = Sway Bars hard as possible Street = Sway Bars somewhere in the middle Drag Strip = Rear sway bar as soft as possible or put the stock rear one back on.
  7. I agree! So many times people are talking about a different car to the one they have listed in the side bar. I think it is a very reasonable question. If you are asking for help the first thing is to provide as much info as possible so people can provide the best answer.
  8. If you read the actual thread he has a lot more basic problems to fix before he worries about modifications for more power.
  9. As said previously, this guys setup is hardly highly modified it really only has an exhaust and some more boost. Once he drops the boost I don't see why the stock ecu or a mines ecu can't do a reasonable job.
  10. The only mods he has done is an exhaust and upped the boost. The first issue to me is the boost spiking, this to me identifies something else is wrong. If he drops the boost I cant see why the standard ecu cant cope or even the mines for that matter. Its not like he has considerable modifications. I agree that a tune would help a lot but it doesnt appear to be the issue yet.
  11. I dont think its fair either to say the mines ecu is definitely the issue. How do you know that?? Do you have the old standard ecu to swap back in and try?
  12. Once everything is running properly, then you will not gain any more power until you change the ecu. Its not buls*t, its the truth. The more mods you do, the faster it goes into r&r and you will see no gain in power. I would drop the boost back to standard and give the ecu some chance of not going into r&r. It will most likely be faster as well as more fuel efficient.
  13. As said previously O2 sensor will not impact power, it will only impact fuel consumption under light throttle conditions. So its not the issue you are talking about so please stop mentioning it. The only way I can see the knock guage having an impact if it is sensing knock and then pulling back timing. How is the ecu map "absolutely fine" if there is "a hell of alot of r&r"?? Isnt that the enemy we are trying to avoid? This alone shows you that the mine ecu is failing you.
  14. Yeah I do that but it is still noticeably harder to get into gear than other gears. Its bearable, just something i had noticed.
  15. Mine is also very notchy from 1st to 2nd. Doesnt crunch but just takes a bit to get in there. Also downshifting from 3rd to 2nd is a bit hard to get in. All other changes are fine, must be something to do with second gear. I used to change pretty hard, now I take more care.
  16. I know its a different engine, but I plotted a few dynos together for the RB25 (see below). You can see that no aftermarket turbo compares with the low down response of the stock turbo (2-3000rpm). Not sure if its the same on the RB26 but I would expect so.
  17. Oh I see its using the same units as the Torque. Its crap because the difference between 10 and 15 in afr is massive whereas on that graph its only 5% of the chart.
  18. Yeah my old man bought me a full Kincrome set, so not cheap or anything. Just a pity he bought the 12 sided sockets!! They have been fine for all engine bay and exhaust stuff. But yeah no good for suspension!
  19. the scale on the afr graph is terrible!!
  20. Because all the answers are in this thread but you fail to acknowledge them. Also, the thread title is very misleading, it implies that you are spending lots of money on mods but are stuck at a particular power level. Your problem is that your car is not running properly. As a consequence, your car is slower than normal. Plus your mechanic is barely any help at all. Thats why this thread is full of fail and so frustrating when trying to help you out.
  21. Agree about the peaky power comment. I think you will do a 13. Low 13 with an awesome launch and a mid to high with a poor launch.
  22. O2 sensor wont affect power only fuel consumption. Under WOT the ecu doesnt care what the O2 sensor is saying. The vacuum leak is an issue though, you would be loosing boost pressure.
  23. Ok dropped down to a suspension joint. They couldnt get them off with normal tools either. One they got off with the gun, the other one was too buggered. Ended up having to drill, chisel and break the nut off. Got there in the end. They were on ridiculously tight as well. Summary: use 6 sided sockets as you guys mentioned!
  24. there is 11ty billion threads on this topic. if you want help from the knowledgeable people on here, do your part and do some reading yourself first.
  25. Put the stock front sway bar back on I have only had time to fit my rear sway bar so the front is standard, and boy it oversteers like a whore!! Would be a good drift car haha
