  1. can someone give me a lift for that cruise? my car has spat the dummy so im abandoning it in my garage for a month paul; check ur pm
  2. looks like it isnt going to be worth using... as someone has told me if im getting 0 compression the head has to be lifted will start removing it this weekend
  3. well i was also thinking if it is a bent valve then youd hear it... theres no noise at all, apart from the engine running on 5cylinders it sounds fine... possibly the seal has gone, either way somthing is letting the air through cos im getting absolutely zero compression
  4. cheers VSPECII im guessing any auto shop can do them... steve; you dont reckon using an endoscope is going to help me identify the exact problem before i start pulling the head off then?
  5. well looks like the head is coming off, from the top everything looks fine ie lifters and valve springs. bugger, its gunah be an expensive one!
  6. steve; do you have an endoscope at your workshop? i want to check the valves before pulling the head off, just so i know what im looking at.

  9. come on people, cant anyone help me on the valve thread my car is falling apart and i have no money left!
  10. after rebuilding and replacing the turbo a valve has let go on the 'test run' this was only at 10psi and under 5500rpm so not heavy conditions. at first it was a misfire so i changed coil packs, spark plugs and ignitor amps. nothing. ran a compression test, and it came up with 0 compression in cylinder 4. so it something to do with the valves i pulled the rocker covers off and rotated the cams and all 4 lifters work fine so its not the valve springs. all looks fine from the top of the engine. so it must be a bent valve or something from the bottom... but does anyone else have any ideas? is there something ive missed in the diagnostic? can anyone give me any advice with regard to pulling the head off to check from the bottom if a valve is stuffed. how much for a workshop to do this kind of job or any help is greatly appreciated. my budget is already stretched from the turbo job so i have little cash to play with thanks in advance for any help, it is much appreciated

  13. paul freo cos its relatively central and on the coast we could make it scarbs? were crusing up and down the coast it seems stupid to meet on the river or in the city (city west)

  15. meet 10am leave at 10:30 from freo fast eddys i reckon. then all the way up the coast to yanchep
  16. autos arent quicker. they have the engine, but manuals have better gear ratios and more control over engine revs etc
  17. sunday 23rd, start tinme 10am. go to yanchep i reckon, that sounds like a good cruise. but a LONG way for you rockingham fellas
  18. um nah but ive got jimis which will be just as good. ill pm it to ya yeh hopefully barry will be able to hook it up to his huge diagnostic machine and fix it! and ill call steve at united tomorrow and ask him if the turbo is supposed to whistle

  20. ive been unscrewing bolts and screwing around with my car for almost 12 straight hours in 40 degree heat not the smartest thing i know, but it takes it outah ya!
  21. all my beer is gone i think. time for bed! paul if you could ask grant about that turbo whistle tomorrow thatd be good, while its the least of my worries im still paranoid about it, will call steve from united tomorrow about it as well to see what he says. hopefully itsa meant to do it because it sounds pretty cool!
  22. what a day! just got in from the garage. what was going to be a very exciting day turned out to be not so... turbo went back on no worries but now cylinder 4 isnt firing and the turbo is making a VERY loud screaming/whistling sound under boost (could be external gate but not sure) damn cars! it never ends
  23. from my experience driving a car with/without pineapples when the pineapples are set for traction/drags they make the rear end very spongy and less responsive compared to the std setup.
  24. tip: you dont need to study for your bike learners test, its all common sense. i didnt look at the book but because were on the roads so much with cars we know the rules!
