The Dr Rebuild Has Begun
Ghostrider replied to Ghostrider's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Why would you have a need for a STRUT BRACE when you have a full cage welded into the car???????????????????????????????? Show some intelligence Carolyn, or do you think we are just a bunch of hicks on this forum. Saying what you have shows your lack of respect. At least you don't own or have bought the abortion Gavin Strongman has. "Why do you ask about tail lights?" If you have the Australian S2 tail lights as I think the car has, it is how it finished it's racing career, or do you plan on having a bastard like your mate Gavin?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? This guy said he already has an $5000.00 offer, yet today it's still in his yard at Smeaton Grange???

The Dr Rebuild Has Begun
Ghostrider replied to Ghostrider's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
After nearly a year, Billett Turbo's in Brisbane have sent my order via TNT today. Will post pics as soon as I get the new manifold and bits on. Cheers, D -
I looked at this car today! It is at JAX Quickfit Narellan (5 Yarmouth Place Smeaton Grange) and the same guy owns Sydney Compliance Centre. It is an 6th month (June) 1983 model according to FAST, not 84 as advertised. Body number DR30-030326. The braided line is the oil feed line to the turbo and the insulation over it is protecting it from the tube bent exhaust manifold AND surprise surprise, the insulation is held on by 100mph cloth reinforced tape. The turbo is an interesting piece of work, has GARRETT on the front housing, A/R 0.50, has what looks to me as a standard dump pipe, yet is externally wastegated which vents to atmosphere through a screamer pipe to just below the floor pan. The piping to the throttle body is extra dodgy, lots of backyard welds and not good ones, made up of bits of stock factory piping and whatever was lying around by the looks. There is a stay arrangement fabricated to mount on the strut brace & inlet manifold to control engine hop under acceleration. The carbon canister is just wedged in the front, isn't held in any way other than got nowhere it can go. Paint is very ordinary, crows feet and bubbles all over it, with clear peeling in lots of places, which would need to be addressed if going to be a street car. So I guess a bare metal respray would be in order to make it a nice daily. The white marks on the front bumper is paint peeling, either clear and or black. S2 84/85 bumpers fitted with a/mkt indicators fitted with wiring going through early mount holes in guards. Interior is clean with lots of gauges & turbo timer & boost controler. Overall, not my cup of tea ....... too far gone for a streeter and too expensive for a drifter as it's a non intercooled R/S poverty pack that needs lots of dollars thrown at it. Cheers, D

Standard Shock Oile Weight
Ghostrider replied to Daewoo's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Try Auto fluid to 40 grade motor oil depending how stiff you want them. A mate drills a hole in the side and drains them, fills them with auto fluid and brazes up the hole. If you want I can ask him how much. Cheers, D -
Mine is mated to a 4cyl 9000 tacho, converted to suit a 6cyl, but the DR has no speedo, just an 5" VDO Extreme 9000 tacho mounted on the steering column couling.

Another 'rare' Datsun Coupe Parked In A Paddock
Ghostrider replied to jrh001's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
How this so when they paid nearly 15 G's for a C110 GTR look a like recently? D -
Well all I can say is WATCH OUT! I bought a spare alternator for my 1UZ last night and the guy is building an hillclimb car. It will fall into group2 sports cars, how does that compare with your TR8? This car I saw under construction last night is an Peugot 307 and it's getting an rear mounted twin turbo'd 1UZFE, using an european spec renault transaxle and it will weigh in the vicinity of 900kg. Cheers, D

I'm still waiting for the fuel rail to be made. Was told yesterday it's being anodized so should be soon now, maybe! Yeehaa 770 injectors & lots of E85 force fed at about 20psi. Then I'll get serious with that & the PNV. Changed the rear end on PNV today to the Koni & King show. Ordered new front inserts today, so will be looking to have the Koni & King show all round. Gotta have it ready for Adelaide, as I'm looking into freighting the DR and trailering the PNV so I can have some hot laps of Mallala. Cheers, D
-
Oh! And these are 16 x 8 +38 with 225/50 tyres. D
-
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I wonder if this could possibly be correct? And DR JOSH's 17 x 10 +20 mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe, BUT! The pics below are 16 x 8 +25 so you decide. The tyres are 245/45 Yokohama A008RSII and they scrub on the top over any bump at any speed. I have to roll the inner guard & fit my coil overs fitted with 250+lb/in springs and wind them up to g'tee clearance, or do a big flare job on the guards. There is about 30mm clearance inside between tyre and trailing arm. Cheers, D

This has got some history! MAG86 knows a bit about it. D

Sorry! It's just the industry talk. Greyhound Bus Freight....... you know, a greyhound is a skinny dog. You will find their charges exceptional, but as I said, you will have to pick them up from their depot. Sydney is at Port Botany. Cheers, D
-
Nobody think about skinny dog freight??????????????????????? Betcha it's cheaper than Transdirect, but it's depot to depot only sorta. I brought up 8 alloy wheels (4 - 16x8's & 4 - 17x9's) Melb to Syd for less than $50.00. Give them a go! D
-
Tell ya mate to use skinny dog freight. Cheapest in town! D

1977 Skyline 240 Gl 2 Door
Ghostrider replied to stock510's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Correction! Now $8600 and not reached reserve. I guess someone will buy it and we will find them on here trying to sort it out. It is likely the motor is stuffed or nearly, as if not driven or run correctly they glaze the bores and then burn oil and become throw aways as I have seen on many occassions, but we will just have to wait and see. Wanted R31 Lower Control Arms & Steering Arms
Ghostrider replied to Daewoo's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Ummmmmm ................ how you do that? The ball joint in R30 lower control arms is pressed in & not replaceable and the only replacement Datsport does is for C210. What did you get for your money????? D -
16 x 8, +38 offset will put them just inside the guards with either 245/45 or 225/50 tyres. 0 offset ...... forget it unless you got megga flares. D
-
You want FLASHY or practical? Your car insured and do you intend it to stay that way?? You want deep dish look or most suitable??? For tyres, do you want economy or don't care about what you have to pay???? And do you want some ride quality or want to know the sixpense you drive over is heads or tales????? All this and more has to be considered before you do anything with wheels. D

Wtb R30 Coupe Rear Wiper
Ghostrider replied to Ravenoak's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
hatch arms are too long by far. The coupe & sedan are quite short in comparison. Sorry fella, the DR didn't have one at all. D -

Door to Door Car Transport will get it to you for about $800.00 so where is your problem. D -
Probably sell it, as I did with the one I had, along with all the go fast bits I had to go with it. But my reasons were a little diferrent to yours, as the PNV is a bit rare it was a stupid move converting it to RB, best to get a whole lot of fun from an L series. But if your going with it, there is a guy on here, lives in Melbourne and has an R30 sedan with an RB30et in it that would give you all the info you would need. Cheers, D
