  1. Just from reading how it's handling, it's the rear diff. Sounds too tight, acting mostly like a locker, forcing understeer, and then breaks loose. Have you tried putting the old diff in? If the old diff was "shagged" it would allow the car to turn better under brakes and neutrally, and then should want to wheel spin a bit more then a good working LSD. If you have an over tight LSD in the rear, it will make the whole car understeer until the rear shakes loose, and then any power put down will result in wheel spin, until attessa kicks in.
  2. I have put in italics the biggest things that need to occur from our government, and I have bolded the main item that is wrong with our society. People are too quick to blame someone else for their f**k up. (Sure, there may be a step there that I should have looked at, but you didn't highlight it with yellow paint and flashy lights, there fore you're the one who is to blame for my broken leg... Not my ignorance and stupidity). This is why our government makes draconian rules and enforces them like they do with a good sized voluntary tax. Basically, what needs to happen, is delete all the road rules, and the mentality people use to drive. Scrap all the cars for brand new items, and start perfectly fresh, teaching everyone how to drive PROPERLY, not to pass a test... I could go on, as it just doesn't stop here...
  3. Fatz, you gimme your GTR, I'll give it the love, break it, and hand it back... Deal? Neil, PM incoming about stuffs.
  4. Sounds like you've got a wire crossed somewhere, especially if it's only boost related and not speed. Edit: I'd be getting it figured out, if the windows are already up, and you come on boost, the window motor is still trying to kick in, but it will just be burning it out. Fix it before you kill your window motors. It's a noticeable power drain too. Try this, put one window all the way down, leave the other up. Push BOTH window buttons to put them up, when the actual open window is halfway up, release the button for the window that was always up... Notice how the window going up now goes up quicker... Why is this? The electrics are still putting power through the already wound up window motor, and just burning it out. The same will be happening while you're on boost.
  5. So now who's criticising people without knowing them? I drive with in the law (Most of the time). And my reactions are pretty darn quick, with decent ability to throw a car around... (To put it to you this way, I borrowed a friends car at a motorkhana I'd NEVER driven before, and ran 4th quickest on the day for that track... And the three people quicker were guys who compete/win at state/national Motorkhana level). And you know what, there's NO ROOM for these skills on the road, except when someone puts you in an emergency situation. (Of which, smart driving, not fast driving, avoids most of these ) But I have an understanding, then when I step outside the law, I have the ability to get nabbed by a mobile speed camera, fixed speed camera, or a Police Officer. I know what the law is, I don't bitch about it when I break it... And the occurances on my licence I've never complained about them... Why? I WAS IN THE WRONG! (To give you a hint, I have 1 point on my licence... From speeding... But you will see my argument the WHOLE WAY THROUGH this thread is if you DON'T WANT TO GET CAUGHT DON'T BREAK THE LAW! TBH: I used to be a constant speeder etc, I did some driver training, got out on the race track, do the SAU NSW motorkhanas, and now, I'm very calm and 99% of the time, a law abiding citizen on the road...
  6. Actually, with so many old cars on the road, and even new cars in bad shape, as our "registration check" system is such a dodgy piece of shit too, with so many cars that don't even get CHECKED, having flogged out bushes, bad suspension, rusty structural items etc, allowing them to do 150KM/H is quite alot more dangerous. Don't know if you've ever taken an old VN that's just been driven and serviced every 10 000KMs at say 140-150KM/H, but most of them start to get death wobbles and shakes at this speed... I've even driven 2005 model cars that have the death wobbles at 110KM/H! If you want to raise the speed limit to "stop speeding" then you're going to need to replace 75% of the cars on the road. And Australia does have an attitude of "Oh, so that's the 'limit', well there'll be heaps of safety built into that 'limit' so I can go 10 - 20KM/H above it" and you'll still have people speeding. Until you FORCEFULLY limit cars from being able to break the limit, people will always speed. If you don't want to pay the fine, DON'T GET CAUGHT SPEEDING! If you're so worried about getting caught and having to pay the fine, THEN DON'T SPEED! Seriously, is it that hard to understand? If you speed, there is a chance you will have to pay a fine!
  7. I can soo do that... So long as it's the GTR I get to borrow... LOL
  8. I keep control of my speed. That's what the gearbox is for, selecting the right gear, for the right conditions, to prevent over run.
  9. Check your wheel alignment. If your front tow is way out on one wheel, it'll "jump" at low speed with alot of steering input.
  10. Statistically speaking Australia has had a decline in the number of deaths for a while. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/safety/publications/2009/pdf/rsr_04.pdf Also, it's not that EASY to get a licence in Thailand actually. Many people are unlicenced... Secondly, average speed on their freeways (Where most of their accidents occur) is roughly 130 - 140KM/H... Point... According to statistics, speed must kill... But how they drive in the city, I'd much rather then in Australia. Australians are dangerous on the road! Thai drivers KNOW what is going on around them all the time! Aussie's don't. Also, the drivers I was talking about who sit over the speed limit, then slow, normally don't like to take breaks. They try and just push on from the experience I've had on many many road trips. Something I have noticed in the last 10 years though, is as safety standards, such as the introduction of ABS, TCS, ASM etc, people are starting to drive closer, and pay less attention. I've even had people say "It's okay, the computer will save me" (Or things along those lines). And the funny thing, even the most ADVANCED computer systems in a car won't always be able to save your ass. My whole thing is, if you want to bitch about mobile speed cameras being just for revenue raising. Look at it this way. It's a voluntary tax. If we removed the fact that our state and country collects MILLIONS of dollars each year in fines etc and used this money for other things (I'm not saying road fines are going back into roads, but the money is going back into the system) then all of this money would have to come from involuntary taxes... IE, our actual tax would INCREASE. I'm happy if the government wants to keep revenue raising from people who want to speed. As it keeps my taxes lower, and I'm able to avoid paying the voluntary taxes by just slowing a little...
  11. Actually, Chubbs, what is wrong with the MX5? I did a run in Anna's last texi, and it was AWESOME to do Texi in. lemme double enter your MX5 and I'll pay your entry...
  12. Those studies, yes are quite true from those countries. In Australia though, have you opened your eyes up? I watch EVERY DAY on the freeway cars that are travelling higher then the general traffic flows speed (Like mentioned in the study), now these people are normally the ones involved in the most near misses. Why? Because people in Australia DON'T check the speed another vehicle is travelling at. Half the time they don't even check if there IS a car there. I'm not sure about you guys, but seeing first hand how people actually drive in other countries, is a real eye opener. People say Asians can't drive for shit, but I'll tell you right now, I would rather drive on a road in Thailand, then in Australia. (And I'm sitting right now in Bangkok saying this too ) Why? Because in other countries people drive predictibly. Everyone is taught to drive exactly the same, they know if they do something what other people will do. In Australia it's pure luck if you can do something and have two people react the same way! Australians truly are shit house drivers! Oh and we know that these cameras are for revenue raising and not increasing road safety. But what everyone is bitching about in this thread (Until the last page) is about how unfair it is to get BOOKED for speeding, when the simple matter of the fact is, Don't Speed, Don't get Caught. Unfortunately, people don't understand this concept, they still think that speeding is a right. No, it's illegal. If you don't speed, you won't have a problem! Oh, and as for those who speed a bit over the limit/general traffic flow, I'm not sure if you've ever done a road trip to say Queensland from NSW (Or something similar), but I can recall on EVERY TRIP a car that has "sped past safely" only to over take them an hour later as they're now doing 10 - 20KM/H under the limit. Then an hour after that they "speed past safely" again, and this continues on the whole journey. And do you know what causes this? The extra alertiveness drains their energy quicker, they lose concentration, and reduce their ability to maintain the same speed, so now they're tired, fluctating in speed, and more of a danger on the road. So while you might be "More alert while safely speeding" the evidence is out there that you become fatigued quicker.
  13. Contradictory post is contradictory.
  14. Lend me your car for the day yeah? I'll be up there again, but no car, so no entry.
  15. You know... I swear I only entered Seans VN in the SAU:NSW Texi...
  16. I know... The only "cuts" I got was hacking my finger with the back of a stanley knife, and the scar I have on my arm now from loading boxes into the GTR over the roll cage... LOL And you know what, I'd do it all again cause it was MAD FUN! Just next time, can we take a real tow car Duncan?
  17. CHUBBS! Enter the MX5 in Production, WE CAN WIN IT! Or Uncy Dunc... I'll co drive with you! COME ON! The GTR WOULD PWN the Production Class! (With you behind th ewheel anyway) If you both say No, then I'm going back to drinking... If you say yes... Well I'll go drink some more to celebrate...
  18. It's alright Neil... I volunteered to pit for Mr Handley, and some how ended up working for him and the Wiggles on the same day... LOL
  19. You don't need lube... All I did was toy with his nuts and tweak his toes...
  20. Feel free to take me up on it.Just be aware I'm in Thailand until the 22nd of Jan... And yes, alas I am considering a cheater car... Bang for buck, it's winning atm. But that decision is still a way off, the first thing to do is sell mine. It has to go unfortunately. It'll cost me twice as much to get it to Targa spec then starting from scratch.
  21. And here I was thinking we had a moment while laying under your MX5...
  22. I saw the car on the tilt tray. I don't believe he's an SAU'er... Looked like warp speed was involved in the accident... I heard very little about it in the news as well actually.
  23. I'm with Chubbs.
  24. The poor Yellow and Purple Beast is just a little stressed... With Uncy Dunc behind the wheel I know why too! HE'S A MADMAN! (And I love how he drives it!) Neil, if you need a hand doing things with your beasty, lemme know. I'm just starting to sell all my gear off... Going to start from a fresh base in 6 - 12 months time and build probably to the same standard as Duncs Yellow and Purple beasty.
  25. Daleo, I'm not sure if youv vet had to deal with the consequences of someone else speeding, but my family has. Some f**k wit who thought it okay to be 30km/h over the limit and lost control of his car, crossing to the wrong side and taking my father out. 13 years later he can't sleep properly, is in remedial every week to be able to keep walking, and can no longer continue his life long job of wing a draftsmen. Is it someone elses right to take the ability to live a nice life away from dimwit like that? No it's not, therefore it's not their right to speed! Driving is a privilege, we are allowed to have this privilige IF we follow the rules. Therefore it isn't yours or anyone else right to speed! And while the private company AND the RTA want it lowered the NSW police force has already successfully blocked them lowering it!
