  2. I still don't understand how that would prevent the bonnet from closing.. there is a distinct difference between bonnet rubbing on stuff and not closing..

  4. C's ftw. I got an RB25 one and used it on my 20 box (need a spacers to clamp up properly) then reused it when I upgraded gearboxes
  5. 14psi doesn't mean much.. What turbo? what power goal?
  6. I really don't see how your bonnet can't "close" then, mine hits the timing belt cover backing plate and the intake manifold but it still "closes". Before I changed the piping setup and removed the stock bov it wouldn't "close", it barely grabbed the safety latch and sat up 4" on one side.
  7. Doesn't hurt to try, if they want it engineered then they'll say so. I feared I would need to get my car engineered as I went from 2L to 3L, but they passed it no dramas

  9. My bonnet closes and I haven't done anything drastic like change engine mounts or space the crossmember. You just have to be smart with the piping.. That being said, my bonnet does rub on the intake manifold which will be solved when the forward facing plenum goes on, then it will only rub slightly on the timing belt cover backing plate..

  15. With 13k to spend he can afford to get a skyline, mildly mod it AND pay for insurance, why bother getting anything else if that's what he really wants?
  16. Yeah ditto, althought I paid 11k for my 32 and it came with coilovers, adj. camber bushes on front, fmic, gtr drivers seat split dump and catback exhaust. I then spent $300 on a 25 turbo, $30 on a decat pipe and $20 on a 3" front pipe and also put an 044 fuel pump in and drove it like that for a year making a fun and revvy 250rwhp
  17. 13k is more than enough to get a stock 32, put a fmic, exhaust and 25 turbo AND pay for a years insurance.

IMO, I wouldn't waste money doing anything up until he can afford to do it to a decent car.. no point getting a lancer, civic, n/a skyline/silvia and blowing money on making it look pretty if he's going to get himself a turbo when he gets off his P's. Get a bunky, drive it for 2yrs, save money, THEN get a real car and go nuts
  19. You don't have to remove all the stuff to the front. I didn't when I first put my lockbar in, you just loop the lines back on themselves. When I last had the motor out I took the opportunity to remove the lines to the front along with the big solenoid thingo in the engine bay. Can't help there.. 33 systems are different. Things like fitting aftermarket steering wheels can affect hicas (if it's not on straight or you've damaged teh steering angle sensor). In a 32 that would be more speedo cable related but 33's have electronic senders and the HICAS isn't hydraulically controlled.

  21. How much does he have to spend? a stock R32gtst isn't very expensive and is an infinitely better place to start.

  23. ^^ +1 Should be interesting to see how my custom plenum goes.. if that guy can make 370rwkw on an RB20 with the same plenum setup I think it should do fine! also cost half what an off the shelf item does
  24. Well seeing as a lot of us are enthusiasts and generally spend a fair bit of time on the road, I can understand why idiot plebs behind the wheel would piss a lot of us off I'm also pretty laid back, it takes a lot to piss me off.. unless I'm in the car, then it's very easy
