  1. Bah each to their bloody own!
  2. That would be the better way to go about it, even GT30R on stock manifold but still a 25. When the 25 dies then look at a 30 as part of the rebuild, if you're rebuilding your motor there's not much difference at all to make it a 3L
  3. Injectors, ecu and afm if not going for a map based ecu. I opted for a GT35R so I have headroom for more power later (also sized my injectors appropriately), but this means I have to go highmount and external gate
  4. I wouldn't be using water-air intercooling for a track car. My understanding is that water is only good for short bursts but because it takes so long to get rid of it's heat means it's not that suited to circuit applications.. just my understanding anyway, I'm sure someone will pipe up if I'm completely off the mark
  5. I may be on crack but so are you if you believe the ATTESA system isn't a driving aid Any driving aid detracts for the purist experience I do agree that 4wd has its' advantages on the street but like I said, I like what I like and that is struggling for traction in a rwd chassis
  6. Don't even need to change the manifold. You can go an internal gate GT30R, will bolt onto stock manifold and be good for 300rwkw. Any bigger and you have to start looking at high mounts etc. Hell, this is Cubes' engine bay (he's an RB30DET guru in SA), GT30R making 300rwkw and looks stock as a rock!
  7. Any specs on R32 RB25DE cams? Wondering how they differ from 20DET cams..
  8. OK just keep in mind if you use the same turbo you have, you won't get more "power" so to speak.. you will get more torque (or same torque earlier). e.g. my 30 makes the same "horsepower" as my 20 did, but a lot sooner.. 183rwkw @ ~4600rpm instead of ~6500rpm which makes for a LOT nicer car to drive on the street. The other benefit of more capacity is being able to spool bigger turbos sooner than a 20/25
  9. $50 for a bottom end, $200 for a set of bearings, use your neo head (gives a nice compression ratio with stock pistons), use as much as you can off your current RB (oil/water pumps etc etc). If you can do a lot of the work yourself (read: all of it) then it can be done for very cheap. There is a guy running 10s in a 33 over east on a standard rebuild and RIPSNZ push some serious power out of standard build bottom ends! Keep the rev limit sensible and it will survive. Even with a standard setup, I reckon you could slap together a standard build 30 for under $500 and it would be fine with the only large outlay being an ecu.. it will run on a stock ecu but will most likely hit R&R very quickly (mine did and maxxed the afm almost straight away). You have the benefit of a neo turbo aswell so it shouldn't choke up as early as mine, would probably see you through to 6500rpmish which is good because you don't want the rev limit set much over that.
  10. The stock gauges are notorious for playing up, I wouldn't be too bothered by it. However, if you see that red light come on at any time other than startup, shut it down real quick like
  11. Most definitely right my 25 box conversion, including full custom tailshaft and new slave cylinder came to a bit under 2.5k, that leaves 1-1.5k for a cheap 30 build which is very doable.
  12. wow.. 3-4k for a half cut.. you could build a basic RB30 AND do a RB25 gearbox swap for that price!
  13. Sweet, I'll keep that in mind! P.S. o hai chuckie!
  14. I dislike how people refer to gtst's and gtr's in terms of how economical it is to get power out of the respective vehicles.. it should be about the driving experience and what YOU like/prefer. Not everyone buys a gtst because they can't afford a gtr or it's maintenance/modification costs. Some people are purists and don't believe in 4wd for a "true" driving experience!
  15. 1kg steak plus whatever is on the plate, I just asked for salad (there was a LOT of salad but it helped break up the monotony of meat!). The guy that got the T-bone, had the bigass potato and stuff which is good because that bone in his steak weighed probably 400g.. fuckin' softcock! It was while attempting to finish the potato at the end that he nearly barfed all over the table
  16. /fail. Native 2wd FTW!
  17. Disagree on the GTR.
  18. Could always try unplug a coil pack, show her how shit it is running and then claim it's the turbos' fault and you need new ones..
  19. It's not so much WA law you have to worry about, it's Customs (federal) and their import duties/taxes. Is this for business or personal reasons?
  20. It should be illegal here.
  21. NA Cylinder Heads, Sam did my plenum - good work, top bloke but don't know if he does blocks n stuff.
  22. Light mods being boost and a tune lol It really depends on what YOU want to do with the car. You can make your auto handle the power (search for MV Automatics). But it's each to their own, I like the idea of a GTR but I know I will miss the pure sliding fun.. if I did get a GTR it would be a daily and I'd keep my GTSt for super happy sliding fun time
  23. That is my "common sense" belief, I only crank the tunes on long cruises. It also baffles me why people listen to ipods/mp3players through their little earphones while driving.. to me that is just stupid and dangerous.
  24. Existing what? it will bolt to the exhaust manifold fine, you'll need to make up a custom dump pipe but that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.
  25. Unless the hi-flow is second-hand and cheap cheap, then getting a brand new Garrett item (like internally gated GT30R) and mounting on the stock manifold would be a much smarter way to go.
