  1. My pick would be the VTR, lovely bike to ride, as reliable as all getout and popular enough to get parts for anywhere. It will be plenty quick enough for you as well. Expecting to do over 200kph regularly on any 250 kind of precludes reliability anyway. You are talking about an engine with 10% of the capacity of your RB.... don't get a CB250 or GN250 - they are so slow they are dangerous, you do need a BIT of pick up after all Best advice i can give, is join your local MRA and do a few ride days with them - even if you can ride a bike, you will be amazed at what these guys can teach you. I dropped almost 10 seconds off my lap times with 4 hours of hints and tips from them.
  2. hey! don't forget about us non/ex/wannabe/defected off the road stagea owners too!
  3. yes, yes you are 15.5ish to 15.1ish from memory.
  4. I gotta ask - why? The only reason the park brake gets moved in the event of a manual conversion, is because it gets in the way of the clutch (and this is the same reason the manual console carries the handbrake) I doubt wether it will be possible anyway - you would need to put it on to a very modified auto console and there is a whole lot of stuff in the auto console that you really don't want to mess with - power/snow buttons, overdrive control switch gear, and some also have their seat movement and heater controls there, not to mention some of the oddball stageas getting around with aux power sockets etc etc etc. Then you will have to remember that the airbag sensor and attessa sensors are also under the console..... see my point?
  5. if its under the front dif it isn't attessa fluid - the attessa system ands at the transfer case at the back of the gearbox. Its probably power steering fluid that far forward. Have a look at your pump, lines and steering rack (this may explain YOUR shuddering, if the power steering fluid has air in it)
  6. Hey Brad - I know of one compliance workshop that probably has a back room cupboard full of them
  7. my mates Daewoo has a 2 litre, and that thing never stops sucking
  8. dunno about a skyline one fitting, although the dash is a very different shape, but heater cores are pretty much the same regardless of make or model aren't they? You will only be restricted by inlet/outlet size, and what will actually fit in the hole left by the other one. as for it being a hard job? To be honest, not really. It is a long, involved and fiddly job, but there is nothing that is very technically demanding about it. Same as everything else, if you take your time, pay close attention to how things come apart, and bag and label everything you take off, then you will be fine. I do recomend that you have a digital camera on hand to take photo's as you go - this can be an invaluable tool when it comes time to reassemble.
  9. You would need to speak to unique1 about the finer details of the differences, but I can defininately say that after having to replace my front driveshaft, there are a LOT of differences between the GTR and stagea attessa systems. I have never directly compared the clutch p[acks from a gtr to that of a stagea, but I think that looking at the rest of the main components (driveshaft, diffs, rear cradles etc etc etc) I can't see Nissan using the same transfer case internals. Why would you bother upgrading the capacity of the diff's, and then not upgrading the system that delivers power to it? I am not saying that the atessa system will be the weak point in the case of power upgrades (that honour would have to go to the auto) but I just don't think I would place that much faith in it. As for the Autech, I had always just assumed that due to using the GTR gearbox, the GTR transfer would have come along for the ride as well.
  10. You can't really compare a GTR to a stagea though, and the R32 was a very different system - you could turn all drive off to the front wheels if you wanted for a start. Never forget that a stagea is, at heart, a parts bin special NOT a GTR. The stagea 4WD system is from the GT4 and remember that Nissan never offered a GT4 with a turbo after the R32. The S1 stagea is actually the only non neo RB25DET from factory with a 4WD system Nissan offered full stop, so the 4WD system is smaller, lighter and weaker than a GTR (not to mention the car is a crapload heavier). Just compare the front driveshaft difference alone to see what I mean. From what I have read, its just a copy of the atessa system (based on g-force sensors rather than the traditional wheel speed sensors for the 4wd), so there wouldn't be any compatible hardware, and you can gaurentee it will be a VERY beefed up version if they think it will stay together. I remember years ago, the only CVT transmissions being used were on mopeds because no one could make them strong enough to handle any more than 50cc's of power, and now the same drive style is available in quite a few cars, so its not unthinkable that it will one day the atessa system will be able to handle it, I just don't think that the stagea one will.
  11. places of virtually no traction, such as gravel and snow. The thing with the atessa system you have to remember, is that it was never designed for high loading situations like sand and very rough terrain. The system is a dead set beauty, don't get me wrong, and it saved my bacon a few times (on private roads of course ) but it is only designed to transfer power under little to no torque loading situations, such as when the back wheels hit an ice patch. There is a school of thought amogst some members that the torque split button can be used to aid in launches, but I don't personally agree with this, dueto the fact that it would only help if you were taking off in loose sand or ice or something. My personal belief is that it would be used when you are taking off from the carpark of your favourite ski resort around Mt Fuji or similar, and if thats not enough, then you engage the "snow" button on the gearbox too.
  12. don't forget to order a steady supply of clutch packs for the transfer case while you are at it Wanna slide sideways like a hyperactive crab with down syndrome? Drop the front drive shaft. 4 bolts and you are away.
  13. what can we expect from someone who gives a boy cat a girls name?
  14. I didn't say that! tis true but.
  15. +1 FOR A STAGEA My missus was dark at me for not buying her a corolla (!) but after she drove it, she reckons it was the first car she ever came emotionally attached to. They go pretty well when stock (well, compared to a commonwhore of foulcan wagon anyway) you have all the same mod options of a skyline, about 10 times the interior room, and the NVH and build quality far surpass any other wagon I have ever driven. Having said that, the Audi A3 1.8t is a horn of a car
  16. just slap a big ol' set of vinyls on it to cover teh damage FUWLLY HEKTIC BRO
  17. *bitchslap* how rude! but, yes I will be there, and I will be coming down to say gidday (and to deliver that bitchslap personally CHARLES!!)
  18. a LOT of people would give their left nut/first born for a graph that looked like that. The torque curve is the stuff dreams are made of. Well done!!
  19. I can't even begin to say how stupid that is. Apart from the fact that you are suggesting that breaking the law is simple and effective, if anyone gets hurt in an accident that involves that towbar, then the amount of shit that would rain down upon you from a great height is almost incalculable. Can you say "culpable negligence"???? everytime I am in my car with my kids, and stuck behind a car pulling a trailer, I am gonna pray its not you, I don't care how good a welder you think you are. Oh, and LAWL @ "haymenn rice"
  20. thats right, you have a manual doncha? *mutters darkly*
  21. If you have to ask, you can't afford it
  22. Don't be a hater now..... The pulsar is a great little car, for what it is, but due to the severe lack of stagea luvin' I am getting now, the poor old pulsar is looking down the barrel of a couple of track days (gotta set a benchmark before I start seriously working on it) The std rotors are warped and shuddering so they have to be replaced, and I would rather do it with something a bit better than stock. Anyone here actually used rda's? the price is a bit cheaper on them, but no one I know has ever used them.
