  1. Ah, no...... They are only allowed to run a 17" rim maximum, with a 305 (10") control tyre. Not a huge amount of rubber to put 650-700 horses to the ground through 2 tyres.... v8 supercars tech rules (for the non believers) http://www.v8supercar.com.au/content/attac...ction_c_update/
  2. The V8 supercars don't have them because the rules limit the amount of changes they can make from the factory profile of the car (I know, I know, don't shoot the messenger) What they do have to compensate though, is a very extended lip on the lower leading edge of the front bar that is "supposed" to do the same thing (ie - increase stability on the front end) How much value is in this, when you consider that they don't run the massive tyres and obese amounts of front camber that the BMI and WTCC run, is anyones guess.
  3. I hate to tell you this, but that is not a good sign....... MV Autos are a Adelaide company, and from memory its about $300 plus fitting.
  4. I would tell you, but then I would have to kill you! Nah, its not that uncommon, people get the stageas in as half cuts to use as cheap parts mules for skylines etc, but the auto's and tranfer cases are not in much demand so the wreckers are usually pretty keen to get rid of them. That one in particular was from a well known WA identity and was hooked up for me by a VERY undervalued forum member here. (ban, anyone? )
  5. The drive shaft doesn't really have anything to do with the problem at hand though, it just may be a sign that the previous owner hasn't really thought things through. The transfer case and the attessa system (4WD control) doesn't actually have anything to do with the auto trans though. Even though the transfer case looks like a part of the auto, it is a very different part of the car. Can we assume you have done all the usual stuff like checked the fluid levels in the trans with the engine warmed up and running? If so, the next step will be to look closely at the transfer case and make sure it is still pushing the power through as it should. The first thing to do will be to open the cargo area, and on the right hand side behind the little door behind the rear strut tower is a resivior for the 4wd system fluid. It takes the same fluid as the auto, and checking the level is the same proceedure (engine warmed up and running etc) and make sure its full. If it is really low or empty then you may need to fill it up and bleed it. This CAN get a little tricky though, so if you are unsure maybe get it down to a auto trans specialist to look at it? I would offer to have a squiz, but I am in WA....
  6. you are a brave, brave man putting your mobile number on a public forum. Why the hell would you want to convert an RS4 to permanent RWD? Wouldn't you be better off selling it and BUYING a RWD stagea? OK, First things first, you CANNOT run a stagea in rear wheel drive by taking the "fuse" out. That may have worked for the R32 attessa system, but all it does for the stagea is cause problems with the transfer case. The only real way to do it is to drop the front driveshaft out (maybe have a look and see if there is one first?) Anywhoo, that probably has absolutely nothing to do with your problem at hand. Fortunately, second hand stagea auto's are actually pretty cheap (the last one I helped source second hand cost a grand total of $120!!) For 180awkw, all I would recommend is a stage 1 shift kit from MV auto's - use the search function as this has been discussed many times on here, and you will discover a lot of converts for it. Having said that, maybe this is the perfect time for a manual conversion?
  7. *in singsong - playschool type voice* Hi Julius!! Now, get your ass over here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...ussion-f82.html and join in the stagea love in!
  8. pussehs. If you had posted this up a few days earlier then I would be down there like a shot, but we are already commited elsewhere Sorry! I am also at work today, no, I dunno why either.....
  9. http://72.14.203.104/translate_c?hl=en&amp...er%2B%26hl%3Den the translation sucks, but the guts of it is, Phoenix Power in Japan have been making some pretty impressive gains with this engine with just turbo and FMIC so I don't think the engines are THAT weak in the bottom end. 350kW is a pretty decent outcome IMO
  10. 1. Lightburn Zeta sport 2. BMW Isetta 3. Meschersmitt KR-200 4. Brütsch Mopetta 5. Bond minicar Mark A
  11. Fark - if you had mentioned you wanted the side ones as well, I would have dropped in the fact that I have a nismo set here that have never been used. Let me know if your interested anywayz, but I can gaurentee you it will be cheaper than buying japanese ones
  12. ......must.........resist.......temptation.............. LOL! Yeah, they are a nismo item, but I have heard a rumor that some other nissan ones will fit, kinda like the N16 pulsar side repeaters will fit, but they use a slightly different plug. I CBF searching, but I know there is an answer to this somewhere in here. *edit* Jeez I'm good to you Micah http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/S1...lear+indicators
  13. does crashing a stagea into a wrx count? *sobs*
  14. almost 1000rpm earlier? I wouldn't say that is the same. Put them next to each other over 400m and I know which one I would have money on. (even if the car is as ugly as sin )
  15. Try modicoat http://modicoat.com/id41.htm although it isn't a sticker, its a coating process. A mate of mine had his dash done in a coarse weave CF look and it was amazing! You would be very hard pressed to tell it from the real thing (texture excluded of course:D ) but the quality of the workmanship was very impressive.
  16. 14.2 @ 151km/hr in a bog stock legnum says peobably not...... I would like some more info on this as it comes to hand though.... *looks meaningfully at pulsar SSS in driveway*
  17. No, no mucking around, although to get it licensed the rego boys are going to want to see that you have updated to all the V8 gear - springs, brakes (all the brakes from master cyl to discs and callipers) diff, and....erm....thats about all I can think of. Remember that the XD did actually come with the 351 as optional (it wasn't deleted from the option list until mid XE) The thing you have to ask yourself is, is it really worth it? The old XD-XF falcons really aren't worth a pinch of shit anymore, and its not worth pouring all your heart and soul into one unless you are looking at keeping it forever. And trust me, even with a V8 in it, unless you are drag racing it, it WILL be a dissapointment after a 200SX. Don't get me wrong, if you cut me I bleed blue ovals, but they are just a old falcon now, and they will never increase in value like the older ones did (unless it is an original ESP and you really don't want to upset the originality of one of those, and most of them had V8's in the already)

  19. *jumps on bandwagon* you know I can't resist a WA luv in This time last year I was like a pig in poo, I finally had my stagea and I had met some unreal people on here that I am proud to call mates. This year, my sad smashed stagea is now gone, but I am still here. So merry christmas everyone and I hope everyone makes it back here safe and sound after the holidays. And do us all a favour, for the love of all that is good and right in the world, PLEASE don't drink and drive
  20. welcome to 2002?
  21. most heavy commiserations dude - I am not going to waffle on about caveat emptor or any of that CR@P because you have been hard done by. I hope that you come out of this with something to show other than a broken heart and wallet. Good luck to both of you and Merry Christmas anyway.
  22. that depends entirely on where abouts the fluid is coming from. Might I suggest a full underbody degrease and then another look? Have a close look at the attessa actuator (plunger looking thingy at the very rear of the case) as it is sealed in with an o-ring. This could be a good spot to start. Also, check out the fluid line connection where it terminates at the actuator (flanged fitting) and also look at the second bleed nipple directly above it. Any of these will be atessa, anywhere else and it will probably be the transfer case itself or the trans.
  23. Aaaalrighty then My name is Dale and I am an alcoholic. Wait, what? Oh.... I would like to start off by telling you all about my skyline.....but I have never owned one Come to think of it, I don't even know why i am here. Maybe its the satisfaction I get from being called ghey by complete strangers I am never likely to meet in person. (Thanks MAd082 and ctjet!!) Srlsy, I live in Perth Western Australia, I am a mechanical designer in the minerals and resources area, I used to drive a stagea (until a bastard dentist having a mid life crisis in a wrx wrote it off) I am married with 2 daughters and when I grow up I want to be Humphrey B Bear because he gets to walk around in public with no pants on - how cool is that? Um, that's about it really. Any questions?
  24. *gets naked* Hi Marc!!! What if I want to be bitten? Do I have to call myself Corinne?
