  1. LOL I made my decision before I new any of that....I have spoken to people who have used them for years, as I said I also found out that my freind had them in his car and his more then happy. Anyway This thread has done its duty .. CHeers!
  2. Funny you should Say that I heard as much bad comments on BC as I heard good 50/50.. But HSD much MUCH more good then bad.. And I think the dampers are doing exactly what they need to be doing as they are on full soft at the moment, and I think its abit too soft actually..and lets not forget there supposed to be a very stiff coilover.. so already I can tell the settings are working very well, the guy who put them in said when he was testing and setting it up for me.. that I will feel the differences easily.. So This weekend I will take it out for a good testing and I really want to stiffen it up abit more... I am thinking 5 clicks on the front and 3 on the rear In regards to the HT... apparently only really used for the track it would be could to hear about them over 1k dearer so I would say they should be ok
  3. ANd forgot to mention he also said keith cowrie or what ever his name was also used HSD a few years back..... ANyways this thread is going beyond what i wanted so .. I am pretty much out guys.. thanks for your help and input
  4. I have read dyno plots being tested for certain cars.. or maybe they were the type of shocks that were tested before they put it on the car because as above offcourse the company would have to test these after building them ..But couldnt there possbly be Different type of Dyno shock tests? I would assume you can set it up on your car and tune the specs, damper, camber, what ever possble? as Nizmo man said above... And this also shows same type of plot? I just spoke to UK HSD and checked if they would give me a dyno plot i even acted like I was in the UK liverpool they said they dont supply them but they said you can use them and if you are not happy you can return them within 30 days thats how confident we are he says, I also asked for curiosty what famous cars or race teams have used HSD and his reply " We use HSD on our championship winning drift cars, Falken UK and Europe use HSD, Monster Energy Europe drift cars, most other European winning S-chassis drift cars use HSD. Track wise we have VLN drivers on HSD, HSD themselves run winning teams in Korea, and over here we have good customers such as RB Motorsport, Abbey Motorsport etc.. We're well known for quality and supply to a lot of big name companies :)" Anyways inregards to the Dyno plotting its easier then I thought then just buy a pair off HSD's Dyno plot them and then if your not happy return them for your money back, you dont even have to put them on a car .... . I have never heard of any other company that offer a money back guarantee. > Honestly that alone says a lot
  5. The problem with Dyno plots is they will vary so much and they have so many different type of coil overs and these all act differently for all cars because of the weight and height, camber etc... So I recon even if you do get a plot it may act differently if you get a plot done on your own car. But I guess a plot will give you a type of idea on how they work.. But I would not FULLY rely on it untill its in your own car and then you test it. Speaking about HSD,, THey also have a HT type which is around $2500 in price and this is race specific... Abit more info on the HT "Featuring a remote reservoir for all four dampers, control is improved even under sustained, high-load use. Effectively doubling the volume of oil in each damper, the remote reservoir system also improves cooling and allows the HT dampers to have separate bump and rebound adjustment. There are four ‘coarse’ steps of bump adjustment, with 12 steps of finer adjustment effectively offering 48 steps of bump adjustment. Rebound adjustment also has 16 steps to choose from, with up to 5000N of damping force available., To minimize unsprung weight, the HT series also offers a full aluminium damper casing and aluminium lower bracket"
  6. Driftworks UK another company that swear by HSD apparently gave a dyno plot for HSD HR for a civic this is the closest I have seen, so maybe ask these guys? http://www.driftworks.com/images/HSD-HR-dyno.jpg I looked at this and i really dont understand anything to be honest lool, But if they were willing to give out a plot and STILL offer a 30 day money back guarantee that says something
  7. And read this article from top to bottom -- http://evosoulselect.com/review/archives/336 I mean it is from an EVO perspective but we are still talking about the same company HSD.. Seems like he did a bit of homework aswell before he chose them.. my point being 95% of users rate the HSDs good.. which is why I went for them.
  8. Well I put the HSD HR coilovers in and not a problem so far.. On fully Soft and but I will make them harder by a few notches this weekend.. Funny you should say that I have spoken to a few different people with HSD's and they stand by them.. I will keep testing these and see how they go... I have heard time and time again HSD's .. and people will buy them over and over. I spoke to a guy who has 3 sets in 3 of his cars... another that has had them 4 years still running in a drift car and he thrashes the thing!! and when they break he will buy them again. I also have a freind with them in and he has never had a problem. .. So I dont know why I am seeing different opinions in here. But I already heard enough good about the HSD's that I bought them without a hiccup. And 1 week in I am happy. And to add to this http://www.hsdcoilovers.com/ They even ave a 30 day money back guarantee on them.... So basically if you put them in your car you can go get it dyno plotted and if your not happy return them... For them to know this could happen and still offer means they are quite happy with there build and assume you will be also. And if you look on that Europe site the ones that Otomoto sell are the MonoPRO.. which are the higher quality out of the 2 they have
  9. Good! If it doesnt sell now... It will sell in 20 yrs for more as it will be hard to find one of these in this condition
  10. That is a VERY good price if the condition is "good" if people cant afford it then seriously GTR is not for them.... Honestly I would Part it if you don't want to hold it too long, it may take a bit longer but you will get your price maybe more you never know.. Its a Shame though.. Good luck..
  11. LOL Paul? haha Its me Andrew. the guy that brett was doin my alternator for... when you took me for that sik ride.. u crazy aasss!
  12. Yep thanks for all your comments, For the price of the HSD and my mate has them in his GTR and he loves them, not a single problem.. I even asked the guy to see if he can give me 8/6kg Spring rates which happen to be the manager at otomoto and he says he could, but he really does not recommend 8kg for the front as the Front of the GTR is quite heavy and its possible to bottom out depending on ride height.. But he said he was happy to give me 6kg for the rear but he said it is not much different at all from the 9/7 original.. And he basically said to me how about I give you the proper ones and I will also chuck in a free pair of rear springs rated 6kg .. I could not pass up that offer .. Price is amazing and I have heard nothing but good feedback from these coil overs as well. Done deal I have done my shopping and will pick these babies this week
  13. I know who guy who has done a heap of head work with his -5s and pushed a 474awkw With Dyno papers to show me when I was shocked... That thing is a rocket!!! He runs it 440awkw every day and only sets it at the highest when need to I myself with all stock internals & -5s on 18psi running 330awkw
  14. Sorry the guy worked in a tyre shop not a suspension place but i guess they deal with suspension.. Now that I have done my research I think he is full of shit.. Cause ohlins is also made in japan.... But yeh THe damper is on full Soft and its still hard... I mean It thuds when I go over humps
  15. Yes... Guys apparently someone told me these are japanese copies.... There not the Ohlins that you may think off. English branded ones.. Funny thing is this guy was in a suspension place and said if they have japanese writing on it they are jap copies... Is he full of shit? But anyways They are too stiff and I have a good feeling this is the reason for the skipping effect I get when I give it and flick it from 1st to 2nd I get this hopping effect...I feel its the stiffness and its not damping enough... DOes anyone know what the spring rates are on the jap ohlins?? my mate just told me he actually has HSD and I have actually felt these they definatley feel nicer than mine.. They are 9/7
  16. Sorry re-read my post Its changed and Its the Japanese Ohlins Not the proper English ones... These are apparently japanese copies And I bought this car fresh from Japan in 2006 it had 68k on the clock Its a 1994 GTR and it had the same suspension (ohlins) when I got it who knows how long for in Japan
  17. Just wondering how these are and what would be the best all are at good prices... Its for for my r32 gtr on JAPANESE OHLINS atm NOT the English ones... I need something adjustable for the ride height especially... my current ones are not and are very stiff I would rather something not as stiff I also want good ones I mean sometimes you are buying for the brand name... but realistictly sometimes thats just it, 3k and 1.5k no difference in quality but your paying for the name... is this one of those things honestly? I am clueless when it comes to suspension/coil overs etc... FOr example Aragosta is like around 3k.. I can get any of the above for around 1.5k What would you choose out of these 3 and is it worth it? Will I regret it, My car is not an every day driver and mainly street driven... 330awkw and my slow Goal I am building it up to be 430-480awkw.. Soon : Rims going to be 18x10 +22 and I have camber kit ready to go ... So far I am on stock rims lowered and no coilovers as I said Ohlins
  18. Thanks Niz... I am going to PM you just want to clarify a couple things bro
  19. Hi Guys, I am really close to buying these type of rims and I am really hoping they will fit without the need to modify or roll the guards? Could anyone tell me if this will fit a R32 GTR? How high would the car need to be raised as my is lower than the stock .... Also could you camber the wheels in to get the nicely tucked under? I don't want to affect handling in a bad way... If the camber is going to help in a good way and also make the tyres fit then thats a win win because I actually like the look of slight camber .. Is a camber kit needed or is there adjustments there already? I forgot if the bnr32 have stock camber adjustments.. Also what tyre would also help ? I don't want to compromise safety by stretching a tyre too much, but maybe just enough to angle the sidewall in but not effect the tyre itself.. Your advise and help would be great guys...Once I get all the info I need I am going to make the move and buy this set. I really hope i get good news Thanks AH
  20. Thanks for the replies guys make me feel better .... I finally worked it out Guess what it was, Well I was driving around yesterday and it did the exact same thing as the older alternator ??? It was the 2 black connector clips that go into the positive terminal... So I threw out my good perfectly good alternator and spent money on a better one for nothing Wow how mad was that ay!.... LOL man if I could count the stupid things ($) i have thrown at this car for no reason... I would do my head in. I am trying to look at the upside ... At Least I have a powerful alternator for somewhere down the track.... And how much would a second hand good alternator go for? This is how much I threw in the bin... I tried to get it out of my freinds recycle bin in time but the garbage collectors came So now it sits on 13.7-14v with stereo Amp, and woofer. Plus I have other gadgets, computer, Turbo timer, boost controller etc... But guys when I start the car fresh it starts at 13.2v and it creeps up to 14v within 2-5 min of driving... I just want to check if this is normal? Or should it should up to 13.7-14v at first start. My auto elec seems to think thats normal. But if you guys dont think its normal I may clean those connectors more... All he did was pull the plug and squeezed the metal pinns closer together so that when you push it back in it is tight. They wore out and stretched and basically became loose and were not tight connected if you can picture what I am saying.
  21. SOrry maybe I didnt make it clear .. Since I changed my alternator, no Dropping volts and no power steering cut off... and I am yet to see if I leave the car off for awhile till the battery almost drains and see if the famous R32 gtr digital clock display stops showing whilst driving after 1st start... I was told this could of been happening cause of the weak alternator using all its energy to try to recharge the battery back to full and thats the reason when you stop and restart the car for the 2nd time but this time the battery is practically full, the clock reappears again. Your input on all this would be great.. if anyone has had similar issues doesn't have to be the exact same thing but other weird things happening from weak or bad alternator, Clock Disappearing and reappearing on low voltage, Power steering cut off etc... NOTE: the digital clock was brought brand new of Nissan OEM less than 2 years ago. My other clock never powered on from the day I got the car fresh from Jap (2006)
  22. Hi guys, I just want to understand a few things as I just replaced my alternator as some weird things have been happening like charge dropping below 10.8 volts as per turbo timer display... and Power steering level actually cut out once and my steering went hard whilst driving, this actually happen the same time the voltage dropped to 10.8 so I linked the 2 together .. this has never happened before.. after I stopped the car and restarted it, power steering came back but the turbo timer display was showing 12.0-12.1... but everything seems ok turbo timer always usually shows 12v as being the regular voltage level... anyway if I leave the car off for 2 days even with the alarm off (micro sensor) . The car will struggle to start .. basically at 9.5 v as I am kicking it over once it Kicks over and starts, it would sit on 12.0 v whilst driving, Another weird thing at those times when I'd leave the car for 2 days and struggle to start, well the Digital clock would not appear until I drive for while and get the charge back up and then Id have to turn the car off and back on for the clock to appear again. So got the shits and I bought the the RH9 Hyper alternator 130a Larger than normal, hope I did the right thing. Note: Battery has been changed twice in 2 years.. this is not an every day car Weird thing is my turbo time only shows 12.3-12.4 But when I look at my Power FC it shows around 12.8v sometimes reaching 13.0.13.1 But its always show around 0.5v more than the turbo timer. But what shows the real voltage is inside the bay when i put the multimeter on it, it shows 14v .. So why does the turbo time and power fc show different voltages? 2. Also has anyone seen weird things happen like the above explained when voltage gets low or alternator not charging right? 3. What is the point of an larger alternator what are the benefits that I should see? if any
  23. ^^^ As I was saying ....There you go a lightly dented up early model R32 GTR with barely an engine and no gearbox.... $12.5k Put another 10 K in that and you got yourself a decent GTR... This is also a lucky find so, although who knows how many Kms that body has been through ...But I would save up and go for this dude and like I said get your wallet ready Once you start fixing a GTR... only God can help you LOL This is why you should leave 20-25k if you want a decent R32 GTR ... And then on top of that , you will always find stuff that needs doing to it..... The fun starts & the wallet keeps wanting to open up.
  24. Not going to get much with that sort of cash lol unless you want to put another 5k into it to get it back to standard OK condition. Even then you will be lucky to get one in good condition for that sort of money (15k), I surely wouldnt expect much for that.. Unless you have an importing liscence and do all the work yourself MAYBE... either way get your wallet ready! But neways Good luck you will need it
