my dad always taught me that white smoke = condensation black smoke = fuel blue smoke = oil perhaps if the car has been sitting stationary for a long wile like you said it has got some water in intake or exhaust. it mite be worth a taking to ya mechanic for 5 seconds and see if he has any hot tips?

loose the mines ecu, and have a bit of a think about your priorities. you stated that there were leaks that needed fixing that you knew about, yet instead of getting them fixed rite away, you go on a wayward mission to make your car faster. just a quick question for you to honestly think about mate. what gives better quarter mile times, track times, or a generally "faster" car? is it the extra 5-10kw from basic bolt on mods on an otherwise standard car, or is it decent tyres, and correct wheels, or driver skill or perhaps suspension that is not warn out and 15 years old?? i have no idea what you car is like, but im guessing that upgrading things that arent entirely mechanical will improve how your car performs.

HPI (PI) is by far the best in Australia. here in the uk tho, there is a jap car mag called bonzai, it give me my monthly fix.

if money isnt an issue keep the skyline and get a daily. i wish i had of kept my 32, but i had to sell it to move over seas. miss it every day.

i was looking thru carsales and have seen a few r31's. yes, they are old. yes they are worn out. yes they would love to be painted bayside blue and have some LM-GT1 rims..in nismo white, of course..

hey lads basically what i want to do is buy a cheap skyline/silvia/???? for around $3000 and spend between $2k-$3k on transforming it into a nice little daily. nothing fancy, im not after a street beast or track demon, just a good looking little daily driver. it doesnt even have to be turbo to be quite honnest, but a nice base car is the plan. the mods i plan on doing will vary depending on the car, but what i really want to do is- -full respray on the car myself -new rubbers and seals -buy some nice rims in shit condition and recondition them my self -get to roadworthy condition -very basic engine and exhaust mods (filters, fuel pump, plugs, seals etc) -get the suspension up to scratch, maybe some lowered springs -window tint -tidy up the interior obviously im not going to tint the windows if its already done, or put an exhaust on if it has a decent system already. you may notice that i am focusing most of my efforts on aesthetics. i have done plenty in the past with the mechanical side of nissan imports, but like a lot of us on here, as soon as any body work needs doing, we pay others to do it. im really interested in having a go at this side of vehicle modification, and most importantly by myself and on a very strict budget. now for the hardest part of it all..... WHAT CAR TO CHOOSE? it must be a jap import id REALLY like it to be a nissan im leaning towards a S13 preferably manual, turbo would be a bonus, but not essential. or a R32 in need of a bit of TLC so lads, what do you think? cheers adam

yeah the car has an interior. it is most definitely not going to be a track car, so weight is not really an issue, its going to be my girlfriends daily. im going to take the doors off so i can do the jams properly, and the front and rear bars separately too. gunmetal- i was thinking of doing all the seals and rubbers but this car is probably not worth the effort to be quite honest. if all goes well tho, it would definitely be on the cards for my next NEXT project.

yea i get the idea that prep is the key. correct me if im wrong, but i want to go for a simple gloss black, so would the process be -corse sand and bog -clear the dust -finer sand and smooth the boged areas -clear the dust -finest sand -prepsol and fine sand -dry -tape up the car -primer -sand???? -1st coat -dry 2nd coat -dry -3rd coat -dry -do i need a clear with gloss paint?? im thinking no?? -let the paint harden, and give it a cut and polish after about a week??? at what stage do i remove all the tape and masked up area? do i do it while the paint is wet to stop cracking, or is that not the case with auto motive paint? im not after any awards for worlds best paint job, but i do want to put the effort in to get a good result. cheers

hey lads im super keen to have a go at respraying a car. my mate has an sr silvia for sale, cheep as chips, but it is a dirty rotten 2 tone. i figure its a project im willing to under take, and i dont mind having a crack on a car i paid not much for. what i wanna know is if anyone on here has given it a go?? and yeah i searched the forums. i have access to a shed that could be sued as a booth, and a decent air compressor, plus a bucket full of common sense. if anyone has any advice/hot tips please post away!! cheers adam
