  1. My engine was built nearly 18 months ago by Dan @ ERD. Is making 620hp (465kw) at the wheels, has seen 6 track days and a drag day so far (with 2 more track days and a drag day left in this year) and has a total of just under 10000 kms on it. We get the oil tested between track days and thus for all results have been excellent. Good builder, good components + good tune == happy engine.
  2. +1 for ERD. You will find he is recommended by many of the SAU Qld members as he looks after many of our cars.
  3. im in the same boat as mick. The screamer pipes are not a big hit with the DB meters or perhaps they are too big a hit :> When can we expect to see your car back out at QR mick ??
  4. Get your ECU remapped. Will do a much better job than an SAFC
  5. AFR's between 11 and 10.. seems a little rich. edit: beaten by paul.. curses ! hope your running copper plugs cause they are gonna foul up pretty quickly with that much fuel.
  6. that is what is known as a 'load of shit'. Oil works best from the moment it leaves the bottle. Hell, I'm lucky to do 1000kms between oil changes. If you want a performance synth oil a bit cheaper than the 300v, Get some Royal Purple 10w40. ERD sell it for about $80 per 5l bottle I think.
  7. lakeside is a tough track if its your first time racing. QR is a better starting track as its much more forgiving if you make mistakes (long run off areas, big sand traps) Having said that, if you drive within your (and the cars) limits, no reason why you cant head straight out to lakeside. If your not quite sure about doing all the mechanical stuff yourself, talk to Dan @ Elite Racing Developments about his pre-trackday service. (http://www.erd.com.au). His workshop is located down at Yatala (just south of Beenleigh) so shouldn't be too far for you to go.
  8. I think Mark and Russ ran -5's on one version of their 32. 700hp+ on race fuel.
  9. The 33 V-Spec diff is the A-LSD that is run off the ATTESA E-TS Pro computer in the V-Spec GTR's. Your GTS-4 will not have the pro version. Your better off getting a non-vspec LSD from a GTR if you want a direct bolt in. Your speedo will also be out unless you can source a speed sensor from a GTR gearbox.
  10. A disproportional number of them seem to fail. I don't know the technical reason or if there even is a technical reason - i've just seen and heard about a very high number of N1 oil pumps failing compared to tomei. Perhaps someone wiser can enlighten us.
  11. dont get an N1 oil pump...... Jun / Tomei
  12. Hmmmm... not likely lets pluck some numbers errm.. on a 25/30 with VCT i think 20psi by 3400 isn't too far off the mark..... the power figures he is quoting are also pretty consistant with the other results I have seen on 35r's.... I think that someone who designs and builds manifolds every day might know what he is talking about.
  13. PITS are very good. If they did the tune, the car is probably fine.
  14. Gavin Wood Autotech in Labrador (North Gold Coast) can tune them (i think)
  15. Yea, Dan made me aware of this the other evening. Ah well, gts4 diffs getting picked up this week. IF the diffs dont do enough, can go the gts4 gearbox too for the high gear ratio's. Will update once we've done the cwp swap.
  16. dont skimp on the fuel system. a drop in fuel pressure is an easy way to lunch an engine.
  17. hes probably putting cheap fuel in and its pinging its ass off when he gets up it causing it to go into r&r
  18. .84 exhaust housing. Its a Garret t04z, but its had the compressor cover surge ported so its basically the same as a HKS item. Tune is actually quite conservative. I stayed with the car the whole time it was on the dyno so I knew exactly what the tuner was doing. Afr's are 12 from 4000 to 6000 then it slowly richens down to 11.5 by limiter. There is only about 17 or 18 degrees of timing in the top end. low-mid 20's in the mid range. Even after abusing the car at the track for a day, there is no knock worth mentioning (peak knock after 5 hot laps is around the 32 range). I'm quite happy with it.. just wish i could squeeze a bit more response outta her. Hopefully the new diff will help.
  19. I have 272's with 10.2 lift .. They suit the t04z nicely. And yes, 620 @ 25psi on good ole Shell Vpower
  20. you'll get that and then some. I have 550hp @ 20psi and 620hp @ 25psi.
  21. should put out some serious ponies. look forward to seeing the result.
  22. upon further investigation, it should fit. the standard gtr diff is an r200v. The A-LSD version in the v-specs is an r200z. The size of the crown wheel is the same, so you can replace the cw and p from other r200 series diffs into the a-lsd. also interestingly enough, those diffs i linked earlier from the AWD serena would also fit. If only i could get my hands on them
  23. might be worth considering a 3582 over a t04z for a hillclimb/timeattack car.. I have the t04z in mine and its a headache to get response out of. we're now at the point of changing diffs and possibly gears to try and keep the engine in the right rev range. A 3582 will still net you a solid 520-550hp (depending on supporting mods) but you'll have at least 500rpm better response.
