We used to do the oil change just before every track day when i was running the Royal Purple 10w40. When we changed to the RP41 racing oil, we were able to start using the oil for 2 track days as long as I don't do a lot of street k's between them (1000 - 1500). The oil is still seeing < 2500km's total and when we send it away to be tested all results are A-OK. We did a test where we changed the oil, did about 200k's street, then a track day, (so, <500ks total) sent the oil away to be tested. Drove the car for 1200k's street, did another track day, another few hundred k's on the street, and sent away another oil test. The only difference between the 2 samples was a tiny bit more fuel dilution (about half a percent up from 2.5 -> 3).

jus, you coming down to the SAU drag day ? Would be good to catchup again. -
Didn't you hear Noel ? He has a turbo'd micra that makes 50hp on 25psi of boost. The turbo is actually a specially designed straw that he blows into while he's driving. He gets them for free from the Baskins store.

Eoi On 4.375 Ratio Diff Gears For Skylines
Strik3r replied to Strik3r's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ok so I talked with my contact about the crown wheel and pinions and after some research, he told me that his machine isn't specific enough for the job. We were referred to Albins Off Road gear - www.albinsgear.com.au who do a lot of work for the v8 supercars and rally cars. They basically said that it isn't going to be a cheap exercise unless we are talking about resonably high volume stuff. The ball park figures we were quoted were $5000 for a 1 off CWP, and around $10000 if we got 5 CWP's. Presumably, it would continue to scale up, but at best guess we would need to be ordering something like 20 or 30 units before the per-unit cost got down to what I would consider reasonable levels (<$1000 per unit). I would have investigated further, but these sort of figures require more responsibility and co-ordination than I am willing to undertake at this point in time. If someone wants to continue to investigate this and organize a large-scale group buy, then I would be interested, but I'm not willing to take it on myself. Thanks for the interest, and if someone wants to organize it, feel free to contact albins yourself. -

So after my hunting around for gts4 diffs to transplant the crown wheel and pinion from into the GTR diffs, I found that these items are becoming harder and harder (AND more expensive) to come by. Particularly seeing as you have to buy the entire GTS4 rear diff and front sump and diff just to get the crown wheel and pinion out of both of them (nobody actually wants the viscous gts4 diff). I was originally going to Cryotreat my CWP's to make sure they were up to the task, but after talking to a friend who has access to a CNC machine, we discussed the possibility of digitizing the crown wheel and pinion from the front and rear diffs out of a gts4 (4.375 ratio) and having a engineer produce replacement CWP's for people wanting taller diff ratio's. To the best of my knowledge, these diffs would suit 32's, 33's and 34's (rwd cars could just use the rear diff, while GTR's/Stagea's would use the front and rear). Another big advantage would be that the new CWP's would be constructed out of stronger materials, effectively upgrading the strength of the diff. I'm no expert on any of this, but can possibly relay any questions that people might have. At the moment, i'm just trying to find out if there is enough interest to have this done. We will be able to set it up as a group buy and it should work out very cost effective. I havent done any number crunching, but to defray the cost of the cnc'ing and digitizing over the produced CWP's, i'm guestimating we'll need around 10 people in the group buy to make the process worthwhile. The more people we have, the cheaper it becomes. If i get enough interest in this thread, i'll have a chat to my friend and work out how much each CWP will cost.

Item: Pair of R33 GTR Seats Location: Brisbane/Gold Coast, Queensland. Item Condition: Excellent Reason for Selling: Have upgrade to Bride fixed back carbon seats Price and Payment Conditions: $1000 for the pair. Not willing to separate unless I have a confirmed buyer for both. Postage: Available at buyers expense AND risk. These seats are in very good condition, and I would hate for them to be damaged in transit to the buyer. Photos: Coming tomorrow/friday. These seats are out of a 1997 Series 3 R33 GTR (red stitching). A roll cage with side intrusion bars has been in the car the whole time so the sidewalls of the seats have been protected and aren't deformed like many second hand GTR seats. There are no rips in the fabric and no marks that I have noticed. The seats are coming out of the car tomorrow so I will take pics and post them up then. These seats will bolt up to 32/33/34 GTS-T's and GTR's. Pm me any questions you might have. I can be contacted on 0400 412 580. Cheers, Gervase

i was exaggerating.. the reality is probably more like 500-800rpm depending on what A/R you chose for the turbine. The 4088R is another frame size up from the t04z and will flow more HP.. at the cost of lag. There is no cheating the equation. Feel free to go prove me wrong chief. My dyno sheet is up in the 35r vs t04z discussion that you can dig up if you like. 620hp @ the wheels with 1 bar at 4000 rpm. Approx 500rpm laggier than a 35r, with about 100hp more than a 35r setup running similar boost.
-
have you ever driven a car with a 4088? Or a car with 450rwkw? I dont understand why the hell you would recommend a 4088 for 450rwkw. A t04z will make 450rwkw with room to spare and probably spool up nearly 1000rpm faster than a 4088.
-
i dont think that holds true for the new 100 cell cats. As dan says, we run 620hp through mine and pulled it apart after 6 months and 4 track days and it was absoultely immaculate. Brand new condition basically.

fark no My current PB is 1.00 flat, though I did that with the exhaust leak and on my last lap of the day, so i'm still improving. my tyres are shot though so i dont think ill be cracking any mega fast laps this time. testing and tuning a few things not worried about lap times. -

turn 6 isnt the problem so much. its long enough that you can take it in 3rd gear and just hold the throttle down most of the way through the corner and control the oversteer with the steering wheel. dont worry about touching the ripple strip - more important to take the corner faster and have the power down than to take the shortest path through the corner so aim for a slightly wider apex. The real problem is turn 3/4 (the dipper) on the sprint track. I have found that trying to take it in 3rd gear leaves you in a world of lag coming out of the dipper.. You can take it in 2nd but then you have to be really gentle with the throttle as your exiting at 80-90km/hr - basically peak torque/power area which means the ass end just slides when you try and nail it. Even antessa can't save you The fact that the exit is negative camber doesnt help either. Feel it out and see how you go. Happy to take you round in the passenger laps session if you wanna see what i do. I'm no Jim Richards though.. you'll prob lap faster than me anyway -

i dont adjust the boost for trackwork, so still putting out the full 620, though was down on power at the last track day due to an exhaust leak. I should be there on the 6th so come say hi! I'm using it as a bit of a tune & test day so might not be doing a heap of laps, but yea, would be good to meet you. -
that is stupid. 35Rs will flow over 400kw atw EACH. the lag on that sort of setup would be stupendous. HKS GT-RS's will make the power you are talking about. Lag will be an issue and will require a lot of money & time to try and negate. If you don't know what your doing and havent done much track work before (assuming this based on your post) then start off small and work your way up. You will lap faster in a responsive 400hp gtr than in your 700-800hp setup with lag and traction issues.
