  1. just emailed my entry form. if nobody drops out then you can count me in as a helper for the day.
  2. he said it's fine for non members to come and he can probably group us together unless there's a few cars that are too fast to be in the same group.
  3. haha yes it looked pretty good, but this is just a ongoing me vs pat/ zed vs r32/ vg30 vs rb20/ 3L NA vs 2L turbo thing we have going on here. if you are going back after you get your new turbo you should get mickey t's, get the zed stockies off chris. yeah but i need to rub it in now while my time is still better than yours. then when you beat my time i will pretend not to care about drags. where can i find details for august sandown?
  4. did you get a good look at the rear of my car?
  5. +1 for nutr33 comments, that thing sounded so good and looked cool seeing it just squat down and put the power down. thanks to SAUvic/WRX club for organising, had a great day. i think we only raced from 2-5pm but there was only 1 or 2 cars left by then and I reckon you could have got 20runs in the 3 hours. i liked how we didn't have to wait forever between runs, made it easier to remember what I'd done wrong in the last run. Managed to improve my previous best from 15.3 down to 14.85@98mph which I was pretty happy with. I was actually only hoping to hit a 15.1 which is a good time for a 4seater NA zed (there area few 2 seaters in the 14's), was pretty surprised to hit the high 14s.
  6. always room for more zeds in sau vic.
  7. 7am is better. i'll be there with a few others. anyone got a backup plan if it's raining? winton fun day? or lemans go karts?
  8. how long will it take to get there? it says racing starts at 11am.
  9. never been to heathcote so will probably tag along if anyone is organising a cruise for saturday morning.
  10. there are lots of things that could be causing it. injectors leaking, fuel pressure regulator not holding the correct pressure (could be an issue with vacuum/boost leaks), coolant temp sender, any other error codes which could be putting you into safety maps, o2's etc. if you have access to Consult or Datascan then that can help diagnose any sensors that might be causing the issues. i wouldn't be tuning it until you've made sure you don't have any other issues.

Well done Russ. Any changes planned before you go back next year?
  12. i think i fit in that category. we can have a NA challenge again
  13. I have 2 mates (a tt zed and a gtr) who are interested but aren't members. Can they sign up for SAU-Vic on the day and race too? Or does this need to be done at least 2-3 weeks before?
  14. i'm most probably in, i should be able to extend my annual leave for exams an extra week to cover this. so this is round 4 or 5 of the zed vs gtst battles?

    Calder Drags

stock unopened engine and turbos but more boost, tuned + bolt on mods. did some more reading and turns out he was running 80 shot of Nos too which i didn't know before. still an impressive time though, best stock turbo/stock engine zed i can find in australia is high 11's without nos. and yeah have been doing more reading and all the guys who drag zeds say to run stiffer on the rear. i think it is more due to the design of the irs on the zed which is not suited to drag racing, not just camber on squat like femno said but also toe changes. and yeah as limpus said you can change the mounting points for the control arms to fix this, which is what UAS have been doing, but pretty expensive so I guess this is why everyone just ups the damping on the rear.

i read a post on the zed forums about suspension setup for drags (by a guy who ran 10.95 with stock turbos and engine) who said to run stock shocks/springs on the front and put higher damping on the rear since when the rear squats it induces negative camber and toe (it has something to do with the IRS and antisquat geometry, i am not too sure exactly) which reduces your tyre contact area. i had always though soft rear was best for drags but pretty much every other zed guy i have spoken to has said the same thing as this guy and said they ran better times that way. i figured r32 and z32 may have similar rear suspension setup. anyway back on topic, yes you should go to calder ric. i would like to race again but the clutch did not like 4500rpm launches and it was still bogging down so need to upgrade clutch before I go again.

i thought it's better to run stiffer suspension on the rear at the drags? might come down to watch next time.
  18. sorry can't help you there, all the numbers i had for nissport (work + spencer's mobile) were disconnected back in 2007, haven't seen/heard from him since then.
  19. yeah Joe works at Dontex in Vermont now. i didn't know about this showroom on kingsway, but he did mention that he had zeds in storage so you could be right. nobody really knows what happened to spencer and nissport, just shut everything leaving cars and parts locked up in the other workshop too. i think the mordialloc workshop has a new tenant. apparently he is working on rain water tanks now
  20. yeah my car is above legal height anyway and don't plan on lowering it anymore since it'll most likely handle worse if I do. exhaust was done last year and is all tucked in above 100mm, was just trying to explain the law just incase other people have cats or resonators that hang abit lower in the centre of the car.
  21. car is a '90 model so 43/01 is the ADR for my car, but it was complianced in 2005 if that makes a difference. 43/01 also says 100mm for any point 1m from the axles (so since the wheelbase of the zed is 2.57 metres then the 0.57m in the middle of the axles can legally be 86mm like R31Nismoid said).
  22. can someone clear up whether the 100mm ground clearance rule still applies? it has been removed from ADR 43 in 2007 (see link below, section 6.4 ground clearance) and there is now a new way of calculating the ride height based on distance between axles or something. http://www.comlaw.gov.au/ComLaw/Legislatio...ation1FINAL.pdf if an ADR is updated does it apply to cars that were built (or complianced for imports) before or do we still use the old ADR's? also wondering how this new rule will be policed by TMU/vicroads since they now have to calculate the minimum ride height for the car. I worked out that for my wheelbase (2.570m) the ground clearance needs to be at least 86mm. shorter wheelbase cars can go lower.
  23. The guy with the suction cup camera is Martin (forum name is: emts). he might be overseas or busy with work but he'll get around to posting them eventually. Does anyone know what happened with the photos from in the basketball court on the longwang? I wanted to buy some if they looked good.
  24. have to work 10hours today (couldn't say no to public holiday rates) + 5hours tomorrow but then have a week off uni.
