  1. Only makes them run like crap on the stock ECU because as R31Nismoid said, the stock ECU's are tuned for them. Any aftermarket ECU's are fine without them.
  2. Yeah thats what i thought. I dont think a plazmaman plenum will fit under the bonnet on a 30/25 in a skyline. Might have to look into this Turbz-RB25.
  3. So it was the valve guides afterall, thought so. I should have my head back from them next week, fingers crossed mine turns out fine, the only thing i supplied was the valve springs.
  4. Here's a question for ya, you mentioned a plazmaman plenum. Will this fit under the bonnet with a RB30/25 since the RB30 will raise the engine height a bit? Because i've looked at mine before and i swear with the extra height of a RB30 the front of the plenum will hit the bonnet.
  5. Every car will react differently to altering from plumback to atmo to blocked off. Most cars need a tune to make it run properly because the stock ECU gets confused. Best bet is to put the plumb-back, back on, or get the car tuned.
  6. Two of them......just to be safe.
  7. You end up finding the thread Ash? I had a quick look but i can't seem to find it. What section was it in?
  8. Hmm not sure about your area you live in Paul, but around here 200rwkw in a skyline just doesn't cut it (for a street car).
  9. Hmmm thats interesting....could be a series II motor then, or this has something to do with your problem....
  10. HKS 2535, GT2871R, GCG Highflow, HKS GTRS, HKS 2835 Pro S, GT3037 to name a few.
  11. Series II its built in, Series I its a silver/black box on top of the coil pack cover right near the fire wall.
  12. Hmm interesting, might have to play around with this on the next tune. Have you found this only works with stock cams, or will something like Poncams still have the same benefit moving the VCT switch point that high?
  13. Sounds like the same issue i had with my hks 256/264 cams and stock valve springs. Made less power every where and started knocking badly when we put timing into it. Ended up pulling the head off to do the valve springs and a bit of head work. I reckon your having a similar problem on the exhaust side with too much lift on old standard valve springs.
  14. So with regards to the VCT, what you'r saying is to keep the VCT kept on all the way to 6200-7000rpm? Or do you mean to have it activate at 6200-7000rpm?
  15. Bahahaha that's gold. I hope i still have balls to do sh*t like that at 78
  16. Three main reasons i can think of: 1. If it's a dyno car, then there is a fairly low chance something is going to go through the turbo unless some one throws something at it. 2. If it's a high performance drag car, these engines get ripped apart after a few runs, some slight damage on compressor wheels from a couple of tiny rocks (still fairly rare at a decent drag strip) is the least of their problems. 3. A lot of people run map sensor'd ECU's, therefore for photos its pretty easy to take off an intake pipe and just show the turbo. However if it is a road car then yes it is stupid to run around without an air filter.
  17. Yeah im fairly amazed that the workshop can't find the problem when obviously something is extremely wrong for it to be making a third of its stock power...
  18. I really like the subaru STI white from the later models (05-07). When parked next to my factory nissan white, it makes mine look yellow lol.
  19. But my missus likes the dose Zuuuuu-Tu-tu-tu-tu-tu-tu *I miss my car if you can't tell by now *
  20. What boost is it running and has it been tuned properly? Does it feel quick?
  21. Have you recently done an oil change and changed to a higher viscosity oil? If so this is probably why you are noticing it has higher oil pressure on start up then before (or it's always been like this and this is the first time you have noticed it). Perfectly normal dude.
  22. Well considering that is rated at the engine, it aint that much in reality. Pretty sure a lot of people running over 300rwkw through much shitter ebay spec cores.
  23. 4000k,6000k,8000k etc has nothing to do with how much power they draw, its to do with the temperature of the HID and therefore the colour it produces on the colour spectrum. They will be fine. My mate has 6000k in his R34 and i have them in my R33 aswell.
  24. ^Good point.
