If people are getting it done for $400 that explains why so imports I assessed are so poorly repaired with crap blend marks and have 3 different colours on the car from poor colour matching J

You can back mask it if you were not a fussy owner or doing it privately but can cause problems down the track with paint work. With insurance they would be allowed to paint the qtr and full sill panel inc apertures. Here’s a quick quote that insurance would allow. Remove and Replace: jack and support vehicle $30 (OHS safety) lhf mud flap and liner $18 lhr mud flap and liner $18 remove sliding doors $45 d/a sliding door runners $30 fineline tape qtr glass $30 tail light d/a $8 remove rear bar $35 Repair: lhs sill panel $240 Paint: lh sill panel $100 blend lhr qtr $100 door aperture lower blend $50 inner wheel arch inner panel blend $40 proofcoat, cav wax, enviro levy $15 booth allowance $80 mix and match solid $20 total : $859.00 gst: $85.90 grand total: $944.90

Without seeing the van or copy of the quote you would not have any access to get behind the dent looking at the images so would need to use and easy beat machine to pull it out. Pending on the make and model of the van if it has structural foam in behind the sill panel you would need to buy another sill panel and short cut it to manufactures specifications. Then paint a rear qtr of a van, blend a pillar or two, paint the sill panel and side door aperture inc inner wheel arch. At the end of the day $880 is very cheap if it’s being repaired correctly as per above. Sounds like they are looking after you...

World Time Attack Challenge 2012

Could have a wet track at times going of the forecast, also the wind speed is high... Should make for some good driving to watch http://www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/sydney/eastern-creek -
Maintenance is not that bad in cost if you do it yourself, I prefer a car out of warranty use aftermarket brake parts different diff and trans fluids, can buy a transmission out of the UK for under 10K if it craps itself. The people buying the cars out of warranty will be GTR lovers that are handy on the tools and use them on the track and could not afford a new one like me

World Time Attack Challenge 2012
GTR32G replied to handbrake's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
In 2010 when I run my R32 GTR in Clubsprint I thought it was funny how they were turning cars away from scrutineering for not having a secondary bonnet restraint, I didn’t have an issues as I had one fitted from running CAMS sprints during the year but they didn’t seem to care if a GT wing or splitters was held on with self tappers that was ok… Hopefully the scrutineers will pay more attention to how aero is fitted, what happened last weekend with the wing coming of in front of Jason Write is extremely worrying, all you need is that wing to hit a windscreen at 200kph and find the drivers face and we have very different outcome. The CAMS supersprint series will be really cracking down on this stuff hopefully WTA will do the same, all we need is a tragic incident to make motorsport and time attack look bad. If you show up to run and deemed to have an unsafe car you should not be allowed to run, I believe my life and other competitors – spectators life’s are more important than the event being a good show. -

The point I was trying to make was would be nice to have a difference between open and pro regarding aero, not some super strict rules just put some sort of limit on size of aero. I guess in August we will see how many cars show up to run in open with aero designed by an aero specialist that clearly I believe could be in pro. -

Thats why you use a set of rules like the CAMS 3D Sports Sedan Coachwork and Aerodynamic section 3. For the guys that don't know them have a read, yes some of the things can be removed from that list to suit time attack but very good base to start with... http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/02_race/d.%203rd%20Category/RA22_Group_3D_2012-1.pdf -

It would be nice if there was some ruling on aero for Open maybe keep it to CAMS sports sedan specs or put a 200mm limit on wings, canards and splitters - diffusers like the CAMS Supersprint series have done and leave Pro to the wild looking aero cars. There my thoughts on the matter.... -

World Time Attack Challenge 2012
GTR32G replied to handbrake's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I do believe a 39 is there in clubsprint if the track is good and temperatures are right, it is amazing what time attack has done in the last few years to development in supersprint based cars that included open cars. I really need to get my S15 finished but keep devolving new parts to keep up with the competition. -

My mate has a R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur R1 (Factory fitted and built from Nismo Omori Factory tags on motor and body) this car is actually just quicker than a stock 2009 R35 if you don’t do a standing start. I have driven this R34 several times and it makes you smile every time due to the raw power of the R1 The R35 is smother more practical car for everyday use, but the R34 GT-R “R1” would hold its value a lot more over years to come and just as much fun to drive. If you twisted my mates arm he would sell the car too if you are intrested Jason, Picture below

Have a look at this crash test from the Great Wall then the Ford Ranger, the Ford has a better cabin design and crumble zone sections and the cabin dose not deform along the cant rail section, doors don’t overlap after the accident ect. If you have any care on safety for your family you would not buy a Great Wall they are 10 years behind safety. Great Wall Crash Test Ford Ranger Crash Test
