  1. Well... 10w60 next oil change it is then. I'll let you know how it goes. I should mention nothings broke with a little bit of noise on start up. Its now been a year since the turbo and restrictors have gone in and travelled a good 25k. There was no real wear on the lifters etc when I pulled them out recently to drop in a new set of cams.
  2. Dale would the flow be reduced further again due to increased friction losses as a result of the smaller hole? In other words the cross sectional area is not 'directly' related to flow? i.e 2 sq.mm would not flow 2x that 1 sq.mm? I have NFI when it comes to this but visualising flow through a smaller pipe suggests so. A friend fitted 2 x 1.1's to his and it tapped its arse off. :S

    Tiffs

    Take it to ns.com.
  4. A couple of snails is a must.. I'm not sure I could go back to the N/A power delivery. There's just something about that part throttle throttle feel as its coming on boost. My only concern would be would if it ends up like my last v8 manual commodore. Broken gearbox's, broken diffs and IRS subframe splitting through the diff mounts. :S
  5. Definitely.. I saw one put the foot down only the other day. Sat up and lunged away rather briskly. Actually looked more like 160kw odd. --- I love the 7ltr just not the price tag of the 'commodore'.
  6. Much more than 7k you need rods AND an ATI balancer if you want it to hold together. Its really just like the RB26 and RB25 at 7.5k+ and lots of track work. If you want it to hold together you must throw an ATI balancer at it. Balancer and rods and 8-8.5k is not a problem. The VLT's back when I owned one were doing it back in their day. Tried and proven if you like. Regardless how many rev's do you want. 8-8.5k is more than enough especially from the 3ltr. A turbo to suit such airflow requirements is pushing 1000hp. N/A its a different story. Possibly a 26 is a better bet. ATI balancer, rods and pistons big cams and aim for 10k.
  7. Exactly.. There's really no replacement for displacement.
  8. Nice... All though no where near the 400rwkw mark the gt30 .82 on the rb30 makes 200rwkw at 3500rpm and 256rwkw at 4000rpm with 19psi. Would be interesting to see what sort of power a well sorted rb30det with a pair of 2530's could make.
  9. RB30... Rods, Pistons ATI balancer and a pair of 2530's. Martin. What sort of power does the VR38 see at 4000rpm?
  10. And legal, emissions complied to etc.... http://www.ls1turbo.com.au/au/dyno.html
  11. LS2 + twin turbs FTW
  12. No probs small knob.
  13. DO you want to start something do you?

    Fail....

FAIL.. Yeah LETS BLOW IT UP!! Be sure to watch to the end. lmfao http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvha8N3a28U
  15. Interesting.. Since I've dropped the valve springs in to mine and at the same time dropped the gt30 turbo on it flicks to its 7.3k rev limit without problems. I've been warned not to push the .82 GT30 turbo much more than 310rwkw as I was told the back pressure on the exhaust side is too high that will result in slight float eventually causing it to drop a valve.
  16. I'm just around the corner Darren. Will be running it very soon also.
  17. 7pm bugger. A work meeting has popped up that I have to attend to Friday night so I won't be able to make it home change then back up to the Hackney by 7pm so it looks like I'm out for Dinner. See how we go I might be able to duck out a little earlier.

    Its Here!

It was owned in NSW by an SAer.

lol. First complied OWNED R35 GTR is by a South Aussy. No doubt if the R35 was able to be complied in SA you would never have that pic.
  20. It sure did. I suspect it was on the exhaust side as there was zero difference to vacuum. Possibly the tight std turbo scroll shooting exh. back pressure through the roof. Noticeably one cylinder so possibly slightly off installed heights from factory or one extremely weak spring.
  21. ATI balancer on a 20det... 10-11k rpm here you come Have you treated it to a solid lifter kit?
  22. The v6 is there for a reason. Compact light weight, provides better weight distribution. I'voe toyed with the idea of a nice all alloy light weight VQ30/VQ35/VQ40DET in the R32 with a nice GT40/42 having off the side should the rb30 fork lift/boat motor ever pop.

    Worst Luck

Thats got to suck... Did you jack it up at the correct point under the car? I've used a Commodore jack without problems before. Just need to make sure its in the correct position.
  24. Heart of the city and a few mins out at Coburg. They were about but nothing like here in Adelaide.
