  1. lol... ok.. I'll make a suggestion How about we settle on Off White? lol
  2. It means if it is leaning out your fuel pump is on its last legs. If you are running a fairly new bosch or walbro item this won't be the case.
  3. hrmm not sure.. the filter is definitely gloss white. The highchair where I took the pics for example is white, as can be seen in the pics its shown as off white due to the poor white balance. Either way.. I usually run PureOne filters but was unable to source one quickly, so I decided to check out a genuine nissan. I've cut open a few filters now so I'll split this nissan one open take a few pics and take note of the filter medium. So far I've pulled apart quite a few. Cooper, Ryco, PureOne, Purulator Premium & K&N. The genuine nissan filter definitely didn't give a first impression of a cheaply made filter, time will tell, I'll split the sucker open.
  4. RB30-Power, Grey as in the pics I have above as they are actually white. Camera's white balance is off slightly.
  5. Shitty boost control.. Much more mid range in it.
  6. Your first mention of it here was 13th August.
  7. Blackwood tyrepower hey.. Can you do us SAU dudes a good deal? I recently priced up 2 tyres but u were too expensive compared to Typrepower in the City; they did 2 x Toyo TEO Plus for $150 each. Quite impressed with the tyre over all, and soon require another 2. I am 5 mins from blackwood so I would prefer to drive 5mins vs 20 odd to the city.
  8. With regards to running rich and being safe. There's nothing safer about running a richer and running more ign. timing where the motor sits 1-2degree's under before det sets in then tuning with a slightly leaner mixture 12-12.5:1 with less ign. timing yet still 1-2degree's before det sets in. The only reason I can see for NOT tuning with a 12.5:1 afr over the slightly richer 12:1 afr is if one is unable to check if every cylinder is actually running the correct afr. Influences such as injector flow, plenum/manifold and exh. manifold design affect cylinder VE. Many usually guestimate cylinder afr by measuring that individual cylinders egt. You then simply trim the injector correct table slightly until they are all equal. You are also able to do this by reading spark plugs, while your there ensure you are running the correct heat range plug by once again reading spark plugs. Once you have the correct trim on every cylinder tune it at the slightly leaner 12.5:1 and run less ign. timing. A richer mixture achieves a slower burn, this moves the peak cylinder pressure later in the cycle, the peak pressure being later in the cycle also reduces the probability of knock. Much like that of simply running less ign. advance. A leaner mixture burns faster, the same effect as above can be produced with an optimum power mixture (12.5:1) and less ign. advance. Ign advance doesn't make power, correct afr and ign. advance does. The aim is to achieve peak combustion pressure off the top of my head.. erm.. I forget.. I remember its some where between 10-20degrees ATDC. :S Essentially running it richer with more ign. advance doesn't provide safety over running it at the correct optimum power mixture with less ign. advance. So what do we do... Nothing.. lol Do what the majority of tuners do.... 12:1 afr and ~2degree's below the det threshold on pump fuel as chances are we are never going to reach minimum advance for best torque. Some funky fuel... Minimum Advance for Best Torque.
  9. Feel for ya buddy.. Much worse than I expected. Get it resprayed but be sure not to drop it in a 'usual' crash repair pump shop. Take it some where that restores cars and actually has pride in the work they do. I learnt the hard way with pump shops.
  10. When you buy cams you bey each stick individually.. So you can choose what you want to run on the inlet and exhaust as I mentioned above. Lift obviously goes hand in hand with the duration cam selected. Head over to http://www.nengun.com/ and see what I mean.
  11. Waz, The oil isn't under pressure. Its simply sitting there in the pan.
  12. Grepins is the HKS GT2835ProS, plenum, exh. manifold, cams and a few others bits and pieces. He's really pushed the 2835proS to its limit. Freebaggin ran a GT3040 with a .63 5bolt style turbine housing and stock style comp cover. Tim Possingham did the specs on the turbo for him some time ago. Back then it was worth close to 3k. The housings weren't simply machined to suit they had more work done to them. I believe it origionally was making 280rwkw on 17psi. Changed comp cover to the .7 ramped boost up and made over 300rwkw. Maybe he can share a little more insight in to what exactly was done to get the power.
  13. Yep as LTHLRB said. My main concern is afr checkup. Ensure fuel pump is doing what its meant to.
  14. Those defi guages look so damn nice... I just couldn't bring my self to paying the price. I know the speco guages don't appear to look any where near as nice but from what I've seen they all sit smack on the 0 when off. Unlike some of the others I've seen and read about even that are a little off from factory.
  15. Agreed.. The BF is a much nicer car.
  16. The car is fine apart from the rear lights... A HUGE let down for the whole car. Bad move by holden, more weight, worse fuel economy. But hell hopefully the LS2 + a little more top end power helps push it along quicker than the previous model.. Nothing wrong with going quicker and quicker from factory.
  17. Yep bad choice of day the 27th... We organized ours back in Jul.
  18. Its simple. Buy turbo cams.. Bolt them in and adjust the exh. cam. If you wish.... I believe Bass Junky also has/sells custom adj. cam gears suitable for the inlet cam cam and it retains VCT.
  19. lol... even better.. Mine had Taiwan written on it. I do remember reading a while back they changed place of manufacturer. As you can see it has a silicon anti drain valve and some funky lip type looking rubber gasket that had what felt like silicon lube.
  20. Why not just go genuine Nissan. Excellent quality well built filter. And its only ~$8 also
  21. A possible reason why some may achieve better gains than others with the SAFC comes down mainly due to the fuel pumps condition. One who is running an origional stock fuel pump may crank the boost up to 11psi or so make 190rwkw and run near perfect afr's. Another has replaced his stock fuel pump with a bosch/walbro item, afr's as a result are rich on boost, knocking high 10's to 11's. He drops the safc on and picks up 10 maybe 20rwkw depending on how rich it was. By leaning mine off from approx 11 to 12 and dropping another degree or two in to the cas I picked up ~12rwkw. So before jumping on the safc wagon one really needs to look at how their car is running at the moment, if it is indeed rich then by all means there are gains to be had. But as stated... PFC all the way, my immediate thoughts when reversing the car then idling off slowly was wow.. the car/acceleration actually feels smoother.
  22. Usherly, Your dribbling... N/A Power, Grab a set of turbo cams and an adj. cam gear and set them up appropriately. the only real difference between turbo and n/a cams is that turbo's don't like overlap, N/A's love overlap. Speak to your tuner for a recommedation on what cams you should drop in it. With a guess he may recommend something like a 260degree inlet and 256degree exh. Or go the regrind..
  23. I'm not sure what it is with Commodores and people keying them. Years back before Imports were well known and the VS commodore was the shit I bought a near new VS 5ltr 5speed, Sherbrook green, tinted windows, lowered. It looked damn nice. Only to have some dick key it across the back rear quarters. I ended up selling it a year or so later, drove around in a bomb for a while then bought the R32. In 4.5-5yrs lucky it has not been keyed yet. Maybe people see them as a piece of shit so they don't bother. who knows. My uncle then heads out and becomes a proud owner of a nice Clubsport 6speed manual. Only to park it down at the shops get it home and realise some prick has keyed it. I'm not so sure on the young kids keying cars, I actually think its the older 20+ aged dero bogan pricks that are jealous that some other prick has a car they wish they could own, IF they get off their lazy arse and get a job, any job, maybe just maybe they could own something nice and enjoy it.
