Clutch/hydraulic problem, won't go into gears
StuiE replied to StuiE's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Managed to find the problem, turns out the clutch plate I was given was just a little too big for the pressure plate, got a new one and all good Was starting to suspect a bent fork or pivot not adjusted properly, tried a longer pushrod, but it wouldn't let the slave physically fit!!! Just an R31 RB30 'box....conversion now complete she's nice to drive. -
Theres a place called Esscargo Rallysport or something that specialise in Pugs, not sure if it's in Syd or Melb though.

Got a bit of a problem, I've been doing a manual conversion on my car, and it's pretty much finished, but with the car running I can't get it into any gear, with the car off it's fine, the slave cylinder had been bled properly...so whats going on? The only thing we can think of is a dodgy slave cylinder, or something else in the hydraulics. My g/f's dad had a look at it and rekons the clutchplate would be in backwards, but I'm pretty sure that isn't possible with an R31..the centre would be bashing on the flywheel wouldn't it? He also moved the clutch fork by hand (not easy) and I still couldn't get it into gears, though I'm not sure he did it all the way. I'm about to try another slave cylinder, if it's not that then what would it be? I looked in the Gregory's and there was pedal freeplay-checked that, hydraulic stuff- still not 100% on, and warped clutch plate, I very much doubt since it has all just gone in and the clutch was pretty good. cheers Stu edit: Treid another slave cylinder, no difference.

Do you have spacers?
-
I have a little darker than legal too, not sure exactly as it was on the car when I bought it, but I've been pulled over twice (at night) and they put a torch though the windows (to look what's in the back I guess) and never said anything about the tint.
-
Good read hope it does some good, somehow.
-
Hey I think I've seen your car before, I had to take a second look cos I thought it was a silo. Thanks If my mate can't manage to do it then I guess I can take it somewhere.
-
It's harder to fit on than a 25 head, just not worth the expense for minimal power increases.
-
Is it hard? or hard to get someone to do it? I'm about to manual convert my (RB30) Pintara and only found out in the last few weeks that the manual crossmembers are different...sounds like fun :S Back on topic...theres quite a few RB20 Pintara's going around.
-
What mods did you need to do the the gearbox crossmember to get it to fit?
-
You could probably get a pretty good R31 for $4k

R32 GTS-T auto -> manual conversion... (again :p)
StuiE replied to Campster123's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm converting my R31 to manual soon, so far I've got: RB30 gearbox $660 (ripoff, but couldn't find another rb30 or 20 box), then another $60 for a gearstick for it :-| Tailshaft $60 Clutch/pressure plate/flywheel/crossmember/pedals/hydraulics $100 (good deal ) I know of an R31 in Adelaide that got manual converted by Fours n More or something..not sure of the cost though. You would probably find that autos have been driven more 'sedately' than manuals, so that's a plus. -
How much for a manual convertion
StuiE replied to [D]RiFT^[R]'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
What car? How much can you do your self? -
You should be spending $5k max of YOUR OWN money on a first car, $40-50k of daddy's money will only make people hate you. Get an R31 and wait 'till you're a bit older for a 34, an R31 has plenty of power for a P Plater.

I always thought an open wheeler should spin the other way, but a LSD they should both go the same way, at least for a clutch type LSD.
-
I think they got rid of it in NSW? You're laws are even worse than we have in WA now, the first time here the car is 'only' locked up for 2 days.
-
Phone Polls are revenue raising just like anti-hoon laws but at least there is a good reason to vote in it. Have you got a number to call? I'll try to if I get home in time (mobile flat) or is it being done all tonight/tomorrow for the results to be on Tuesday night?

I know there was a grey/silver one, and was RWD, it was in GT2!

Agreed, A petition should be done now, shown to Ms Roberts, if nothing is done (likely) then if Liberal gets in in the state election then show it to them, then there would be a slight chance of getting it changed, more chance than if Labour stayed in. Worth a try.

Car: Pintara GLi Wagon Year: 1989 Purchased: Dec 30 2003 Kms: 340,000 (engine has 240k) Cost: $2500 Mods: (when I bought it) Has the original engine from GTS2 #158, Silo front spoiler, random Nissan mags, red pinstriping, bottom half painted gray, Skyline driving lights and grille, chopped rear springs, dark tint, mild stereo, spotties (since I've had it) All new suspension, properly lowered, Ti mags, Silo interior, N13 Pulsar SSS steering wheel (I was told it was from a HR31, but looks the same as a SSS one and different from the HR31 steering wheels I've seen), Silo sticker . (soon to come) Manual conversion in the next few weeks (auto is stuffed), exhaust after that (only got GTS2 extractors)...then dunno, weld the diff, wait till it breaks then get a minispool, RB20 maybe..not sure if it's worth doing to this particular car.

From what I read in another thread, they have to catch you in the act.
-
But will that get rid of the law? I have a feeling there would be a public 'backlash' if Liberal (if they get in) try to reverse the law.

http://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au/media...8256F0300063408 I send a message, regarding how it would be enforced etc. wondering if I will get a reply.

The only good thing about it as a first car is that it's only a DE.... With all that money spent in it why didn't they give it some tint?? Don't get a loan for a first car, it's highly likely that you will crash it, and if you couldn't afford the full comp you just lost yourself a car, if you did get full comp then you would have a shitload of excess to pay. It's not like you could mod it much either... as most things are already done (apart from turbo, which IMO you shouldn't do till you're off your P's anyway). If you just want to be 'fUlLy SiK' than go for it...

There was the S11 and S12 Silvias too... the S12 had a FJ, not sure about S11, only seen one once, not bad looking.
