  1. That was me. I was just hoping there would be handicaps so I have a chance. It doesn't matter now as snowman mentioned that there will be two classes for race cars and street cars so I doubt you would have to carry weight. Otherwise to make your car do similar times to mine you would have to put roof racks on your car and strap another car to your roof.
  2. siksII wanted me to put his name down +1.
  3. And have handicaps so I have a glimmer of hope
  4. I was thinking that if its a 2 day event there must be a lot of practise time if only 30 cars are going and each has one timed lap. It seems a bit dumb. Snowman, maybe you can confince them that they need to invite more people to make the event worth while and look good in print
  5. I bought my front mount off Troy. Hes a good guy. Testament to this was when my front mount got lost in transit and couldn't be delivered on time. Most shops just screw you around. Troy kept me in the loop the whole time, promised to have it resolved quickly and did. Turned out the problem was a courier that didn't "feel" like delivering it because he wanted to go home at 3:00. I would recommend him to anyone.
  6. That won't compare to the 6 bar boost + 8 bottles of NOS + some elf racing fuel including stickers...... and a partridge in a pear tree
  7. Count me in +1 This looks like its going to be an impressive day. I can forsee some awesome traffic jams and a whole lot of attention... I checked the weather forecast, light rain early and then cloudy and humid with a top of 25 degrees. Not that you can ever trust the weather forecast. <_<
  8. Thanks. You should apply Duncan... You've got a few cars to choose from. I think your experience would get you a drive. John: I reckon your a sure thing. I would be very surprised to find out they do not want a 465kwatw 300 that can do 1.06's round wakefield. You would make them look good to even draw a car like yours to the event. Let alone your experience in running track days. Infact, Snowman I would rate you pretty highly with an r34 gtr and roy you have 240rwkw in an r32... Thats a weapon. I'm going to need a miracle to get in!
  9. From what I have seen targa is definitely the place to hurt yourself PROPERLY!!!
  10. I just went through the website. I am very interested. Can anyone who has done the event comment on what it is like?
  11. Im interested too. How much is the event p/p and when?
  12. I just applied as well. I even put a PS in to invite you Fatz because you have a better chance than my 190rwkw stock looking s15 and would make for some good reading! Plus I reckon you would be such a stark contrast to the typical Autosalon crowd it would just be good to watch. Boosted Zed: Someone confirmed on one of the pages that you do get more than one go. A go consists of a warm up lap, timed lap and a cool down lap. It doesn't give you a chance to get into a rhythm which is a big part of racing but I guess it will provide a challenge.
  13. Likewise, thats horrible to hear. A friend of mines dad had a really bad accident in a sports sedan 1 year ago and I still remember how messed up he was. I with you beer baron... It makes you wonder why we do it.... Its the reality we all choose to ignore.
  14. Very true. I would definitely watch the video it is entertaining because the car is FAST... You are right, I am being a keyboard warrior right now bagging him although I am sure you have been to the track before and just seen a lost cause... This thing has a big high mount so I think it is unlikely he is new to it. Watching it makes me miss the track even more... I haven't been in 7 months.
  15. LOL! As well as... "learning to brake 101", "learn to drive a manual 101", "understanding the racing line 101" and "learning to cain it anywhere other than in a straight line 101"
  16. I am 99% sure it was the 31st of january. Maybe ring them to see if you can get an application form. That video of the gtr, the car was fast but the driver was pretty ordinary. He was backing off halfway down the straight and was getting compression lock all the time from not enough heel-and-toe. Still would have been heaps of fun though, that thing flies.....
  17. I know what you mean... buuuutttttt I probably should have added that they want to know what times you have done at the tracks you have been too.... Its at the bottom of the application form. My bad.... Roy: I am trying to scan it but the stupid thing won't work... It lights up scans and then the program locks up..... stupid pile of sh*t....
  18. Do it Roy.....! You would definitely make the competitive pile. If you need an application form I can try and get the magazine with the form photocopied and scan it... I think the application forms have to be in by the 31st from memory. I just want to see a presence from SAU.
  19. Definitely an important minor detail missed (by me)! It didn't mention anything about cost on the application form but I have learnt that nothings free! If thats the case this event is going to cost them a fortune to bring cars from around australia to wakefield park which is definitely not convenient for anyone other than people living in canberra. I wonder how they are going to cover their costs??? MASSIVE SPONSORSHIP?
  20. I have 10% on my car and I hate it. At night the front windows are just too dark. Sometimes I have to slow down and put the window down in dark streets. I would recommend people getting 35% on the front windows and 15% on the back. Keeps the jap look. Have you noticed that a lot of imports arrive here with really dark back windows with the front windows clear? Apparently a nissan factory option in japan is exactly that.
  21. 10psi will be fine. Some people run 12psi with no problems at all. A friend of mines old series 2 used to run 14psi with no problems at all. It is common though for the ceramic wheel to come off the turbo above 13psi. At 10psi you would have to be unlucky. The safest thing to do is put the car on the dyno and wind the boost up. Might cost you $60-80 but will be well worth it to have the peace of mind. James
  22. Picked up the magazine again and had a look at the application form. They are actually being picky with who goes in the competition. They are giving more competitive cars preference. You have to fill in what modifications your car has to the engine, suspension, wheels and tyres and body. By the look of it you will get more than 1 session which is good. eg. You will go out and do the warm up lap, timed lap and the cool down lap and then wait for your turn and do it again so it is not as bad as I thought. I couldn't find anything on price though. I guess they thought it was irrelevant...
  23. The image in the background appeared to be wakefield but given the fact that "autosalon" is national I imagine they will run it round the country. This is all speculation though. So far the magazine has said there is going to be a circuit battle and given the rules and regulations as well as an application form.
  24. I posted the thread below in the motorsport area but wanted to get you guys thoughts. The cabin group want to make this a regular event like Drag Combat I think. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=102617 We are really the targeted demographic!! So would you guys go? James
  25. I picked up a Autosalon magazine the other day (I was bored and had read HPI) and noticed that they are going to have a circuit battle set up like a glorified club super sprint. Basically the rules don't allow full slicks but semis are fine. Cars don't have to be registered but have to maintain there standard chassis. Modifications to the engine are unlimited and suspension modifications permit changing springs, shocks, swaybars, radius rods, control arms etc The way the competition works: One car on the track at a time with an inlap, timed lap and then cool down lap. So you only have 1 lap to set a good time per outing onto the track. I imagine it is going to take ages to get through the cars with only one person on the track but I hope they they have thought about that. The latest magazine with a riced up rx7 s6 on the front has the application form. It would be a pitty not to have some talent from skylines australia attending... I think the most hilarious part of the day will be when all the riced up turbo swifts and the like turn up thinking there car will fly and then it overheats and blows up on the first lap or the cut springs fall out around a corner and their candy paint job gets dirty... (or worse) If some others attend I will take my s15. Common Duncan and Fatz bring on the improved production GTR's. You just need a couple of Nismo stickers as well as a TRD and mugen and you will fit right in. James
