  1. too much coffee can have the same effect... just you'll do it in a 1/4 of the time and not really know what you are typing.
  2. +1 fungoolies... although he did say that he had a porsche tech as a friend helping him out fitting the exhaust, and he has porsche friends in seattle (i may have made that bit up, i cant remember) etc.. and you dont know his back story... so maybe he has more porsche experience than he has mentioned.. while martin seemed to be offering free and logical advice, he came across very arrogant and seemed to be nit picking mgs's every decision.. i had a friend who did that, always asking everyone "why did you get that, why didnt you get this?? but he did it in a way that was saying "what you got is shit, your an idiot for getting it".. needless to say, hes not my friend anymore. i think martin had the same effect on mgs.
  3. ok so i just read that wakefield likes having no trees or anything.. wierdos.
  4. i cant believe that race tracks have to pay for the v8's to come there.. thats what i got from the above posts... is that right?? they should be just like everyone else and have to hire the track for the weekend, supply their own shit, just like everyone else has to. i stopped watching them years ago... they suck hard. when are some of aus's tracks going to do something about their landscaping?? seriously... especially wakefield... would it be so hard and so expensive to set up a few sprinklers so theres a bit of nice green grass and plant a bunch of trees so there is more shade etc... it always seems dry and dead and dusty. might be a business venture for me... specialist in race track beautification.
  5. thats the whole argument... thats why it should not have the gtr emblem or be an r35... it should by rights, be a v35 gtr if anything, as its derived from the v35 skylines, or a z thing, or start a whole new family. they couldnt make a gtst version of it.... the gtr version isnt fat enough, the guards would have to be concave in order to be skinnier than the gtr... haha.
  6. whether its actually called a skyline is beside the point, its implied, nissan may not of called it a skyline.. but they have done a crap job in telling people that it is not a skyline, people will assume its a skyline because a) its an r35 b) its a GTR c) its got stove top tail lights d) its incredibly fast. its like the name godzilla... nissan never used it in their marketing campaign... motor magazine dubbed it that and its stuck all over the world... people know them as a godzilla skyline. if someone came up to one of you r35 owners and said "whoa! is that an r35 skyline?" would you say "yes it is" or would you say "no sir, its not a skyline, its an R35 GTR"
  7. i think the pricing is right... r34 gtr's were $120000 when new, 12 years ago!... so for this to be a far better finish and much better out of the box and the current price of other things i think that the price is right. sorry to hear that mark wont be posting anymore.. now mods... can we change to the name of this thread to NZM.031 vs every R35 owner haha. Jack Sky... your garage is the ducks nuts in my book buddy.. 1 better then mine as ive sold my kx250... but only to get a cr250.... 2 stroke FTW!
  8. alot of the images that come up are also photoshops or gran turismo screen shots.
  9. prados are right next to the oil filler cap... and they have a little well with a drain tube that comes out next to the sump plug.. i think the worst oil filter location is on old 4wd hiluxs... its upside down, but right above one of the steering links... so you cant get a claw and a ratchet on it... there isnt enough room to use a filter strap.. and not enough room to get both hands on it. the only way to do it is with a claw, jammed in on a funny angle, which pierces the bottom of the filter, causing dirty black diesel oil to drain down you ratchet and your arm and into your armpit before youve even got the filter loose... then the oil drips down onto all the steering links and muck covered front diff housing, which then starts to splatter as it hits. and run from one side to the other, dripping a nice black mess all over the floor. after doing them day in day out.... any filter seems good!!
  10. from franz josef to wanaka was the best drive of the trip... and wanaka to queenstown... and queenstown back up to christchurch... the poor little pulsar hire car was an absolute trooper... cooked the brakes serveral times... spent more time hooking round corners on the tyre sidewalls than on the tread.. ahhh... good memories!!
  11. i can understand why you had trouble finding it... not much comes up when your looking for it being an r31 based on that small photo.... easy mistake.
  12. haha... i saw that one coming from a mile away.. and its a fair call. no comment here as they are in the own little sub forum, so is the r35, however its on the main page, right at the top.
  13. its a kdr30 from 1983.. group B class. http://www.banpei.net/blog/popular-bosozok...n-skyline-kdr30
  14. very nice mate, good price.. ive had one of these before and i can vouch that they are great cars for a general driver... they arent a performance car, but they have a great stereo, great seats, a great engine witha great sound and get along nice enough. good luck with the sale.
  15. given that there are 5 models in the 80's and 90s... each with atleast 3 trim levels... getting an r35 pic when you type in skyline is, like you say, 1 in 15 chance... but type in r35 skyline and there should be no images found, as its not called a skyline, but alas... there are many many images with the full r35 skyline in the image title.. the fact that it is on this very forum shows that its considered a skyline.
  16. how good are the roads in nz aye bro!
  17. hahaha oops... successor is what i meant.. thank you. z tune was fettled with and released by nismo, so to me its not the same.. general population most definatly wrong... all i mean is that they have dubbed it has a new skyline gtr, whether it is or isnt named a skyline by nissan.
  18. similar thing happened to me at work a few years ago... as my pristine black ss ute was for sale, i started to park it out the front of my work for advertising purposes.... some chick turning out of a driveway, spilled her coke and automatically reached for it, swerving into the side of the ute.. i had just left my desk from where i had a clear view of the car to visit the vending machine when i heard it... i didnt pay attention thinking it wasnt mine... but walking back to my desk i saw the damage... i was fuming!!! there was no note, no phone number, no witnesses (it was right next to a woolworths carpark and yet noone saw it) my phone number was on the window, so anyone could have rang me and told me... but nup... not a sound.. 4 hrs later i get a call from her friend saying how she was sorry and drove off because she freaked out at seeing how immaculate the car she just hit was.. to add more to the story, she had just moved to nsw, so her insurance wasnt sorted yet... she thought she had paid it, her insurance said no she hasnt paid it, went on for a bit while my ute was getting repaired... thankfully her insurance came through as they dated the accident to just after the money cleared somehow. my excess was nearly $1000 so i couldnt afford to make a claim, the repairs came to $3000 so i couldnt afford to repair it.. thank christ her iinsurance came through... highly recommend marty's smash repairs in wickham, they did a sick job on the ute and you couldnt tell a thing.
  19. i thought most people use tig for stainless.
  20. kind of sorta did.. 1. not at eastern creek theres not 2. i love superlap.. i missed it the first year, i absolutly loved it last year, and cant wait for this year.. i just mean from a spectator, watching people get so close to the limit and really pushing themselves and the car for that very best time is awesome.. i remember last year watching the red r32 gtr, i think it was a rigoli car, lay 2 thick black lines on every exit of the final turn onto the main straight... not smoky, full countersteer, sideways drift... but it was scrabbling for traction and just gently heading for the wall... and seeing the hi octane r34 with wisps of smoke from the rear tyres coming up and over the hill... he could go no faster and push no harder, 110% effort the r35s are too clean and clinical... and quiet. hahahaha... right on... wheres the fun factor for the guys that pay others to do all the work to their car, then get someone else to drive it.... although, on the other hand... im open to taking your money to buy parts and fit them for you, then thrash your car around the track for you... more than happy... hell, ill even drive it for free...
  21. ahhhhhhh youve got an r33... i didnt even realise, i just assumed you were doing it to an r32... therefore i have no idea what is needed to fit... sorry champ...
  22. hey guys, bakes is in the states for work at the moment, will be back in a week or so.. any serious buyers can pm me and i can show you the car.. no tyre kickers or joy riders, seriously. cheers Linton
  23. its an r35... which follows on from the r34.. they didnt call it a v35 or 350z-r or something like that... or start a new family chain.. therefore i see it as a predecessor to the R34 GTR.. i feel that the R34 Mspec Nur should have been the end of the skyline generation and a new family be created with the r35, never comparing the new r35 to the original skylines. the m spec nur could have been a legend... the last ever skyline gtr... instead.. its now just a previous model, to be outdone by the next one, and the next one after that. google r35 skyline and sure enough, you'll get lots popping up.. the gen pop knows it as a skyline.. thats all that matters.
  24. hahaha.... if Mr T went racing... thats what he'd drive there should be no bitterness... we are all car guys and everyone loves their car for their own reasons, if you dont, then its time to jump ship. ive tried all different cars, and the most memorable have been my skylines, mainly my r33 gtst.. what i would give to go back in time and re-live that period over again. but the offset and design of the factory wheels.... ohhh the horror!!!... happy snap or full on photoshoot... the wheels and the stance because of the wheels on the r35 is truly horrid.. look how much gap is between the wheel and the guard... and then compare that to the porsche.. the r34 is much fresher than an r32.. nissan did a good job at refreshing the models for each series... there is no way you could be mistaken for any other model. ducati did the same thing with the release of the 999... ducati fans hated the vertical light setup and it is viewed as a lesser ducati because of it... on the next model, the 1098, they went back to the side by side lights and it they were snapped up quicksmart and are praised throughout the world. looking at the evolution of all car brands.. they all stick to their signature shape... porsche, lamborghini, mercs, ferraris, beamers, wrx's and evo's etc, heck, even holden .. they all find a refreshing spin on the next gen models but still keep it with the original shape making it instantly recognisable to even the faintest of people into cars. audi, and the release of the r8 still doesnt strike me as an audi... it doesnt have the boxy bull nose shape i imagine when i hear the word audi.. an awesome car maybe, but not what i would consider their poster car... the rs6 is much better for that... it instantly springs to mind as an audi.
