i had a similar prob when i used cheap ebay coloured vacuum hose... when it got hot, it became flimsy and would suck itself in make a squealing sound like a balloon does.. i also had one split slightly, again due to the heat.. would squeal when boosting, suck in when idling. sounds like you need to get a hose kit and go over everything!

have you seen the new duvet suit??
-
why?? if you really must make it look all blingy and hot4s like.. get some acidic aluminium cleaner from super cheap and give it a spray, wait a few min, and hose it off.. make sure you wear gloves and glasses, and mix it up as per the instructions, and make sure you get a good even coverage, otherwise it will miss bits.. put it in a spray bottle and mist it on... it will turn white and foamy and your cooler will be as good as new. but i say paint it black or leave it dull.

My Bolt On Engine Upgrade Thread: R34 Gtr
NZM.031 replied to Bakes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
no attack dude... its all good... im not assuming you were attacking.. i just didnt expect that question from you, regardless of if you wanted to see other peoples responses to it.. you know dynos are a worthless.. big wheels or not.. i was just clearing it up for those people whom the question was aimed at. all i remember from our chat last week is alot of talk about the mines gtr.. we got the a/c sorted, that wasnt a drama, it was just a matter of re-fitting the parts someone took out. the last bit was just a bit of fun.. bakes gave it a short stab on the cruise on sunday and scared us both.. it has more than enough power for the street without sacrificing drivabilty. cheers mate -

My Bolt On Engine Upgrade Thread: R34 Gtr
NZM.031 replied to Bakes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
of all people i thought you would know this dude... unless you use a hub dyno.. the size of the wheels and friction properties of the tyres will affect the power output on any particular dyno.. high reading or low reading.. his volks have a rolling diameter of 675mm while the original gtr wheels are 654mm, so the original wheels will give a higher speed reading and slightly higher power reading. the big wheels will give a higher torque reading and less speed.. it doesnt matter anyway as the dyno was just used to tune it.. scott @ insight said it has got more to offer and its a very safe tune for day to day driving.. and its been tuned for maximum low down response... not top top end power. regardless of power readings and dynos and crap thats gone on and what anyone thinks.. this car now hauls. it has fantastic driveablity, excellent fuel economy, and power to boot.. for the amount of punting bakes does.. the money has been spent, the parts are fitted, and the result at the end are what matters, it should keep him happy for a while.. simon, if your not content with anything about bakes gtr, feel free to line your r31 up anytime you like (or your mates mp3 player) .. until then.. let him enjoy his car stop worrying about what you could have done for him.. -

like i said we were late so we missed the main group, and the 2nd group and the launching.. im all for the launching from the first meet point as it was there was noone around... i didnt see the main group... but there was a group that came through the round about heading towards the first meet point, chucked a u turn down the road and all took off again.. was about 6 or 7 gtrs and there were loads of people at that roundabout.. i just wasnt very impressed as there was no need for that particular car to do what they did at that point.. they did a bit more than tromp it. -

fantastic cruise today guys... even though bakes and i missed the first group (what a mission that was!! )... i had a ball of fun.. the cars were great... the organisation was great.. big props to terry and the crew.. the spot was fantastic... i think i took more photos of the surroundings then of the cars... congrats to the award winners.. lots of tough cars.. ill have a play with the photos and post em up tomorrow when i should be working... i got a great photo of terry in action! and so y'all know .... bakes's gtr has got some get up and go now its all tuned and it sounds fantastic.. i leave it up to him to fill you all in if he feels like it... but from the passenger seat... lots of fun. one more thing... i hate to put a dampner on things... but who was the goof who punched it out the first round about in the gtr group... i think it was white... a light colour anyway... was last in the group.... seriously mate, nice way to show that skyline drivers are respectable lot... couldnt you have waited till you got a bit out of the populated area?? cheers all Linton -
Best Ride Height For R32
NZM.031 replied to pipster11's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
im not sure what youre after, or what your spring rates are or anything.. but i have cusco coilovers, 8kg fronts and 6kg rears, its pretty stiff... and my exhaust is about 70mm off the ground at its lowest point.. i have no dramas with getting up and down driveways and speed humps etc. and my handling is pretty good. -
Why Shouldnt I Sell The Skyline For A Wrx?
NZM.031 replied to Julzillionaire's topic in General Automotive Discussion
you've just gotta know how to drive it, replaced the front and rear swaybar links with solid aluminium ones from mrt... you could upset it under braking and step it out (not heaps... not like rallying) ... and then launch forwards and pull through the corner. you dont take the corner like you would in a skyline.. where you start wide, hit the apex, leave wide and throttle on after the apex... smooth and controlled. in a rex you come in wide, jam on the brakes and turn in, step the back out, aim it at the exit and punch it passed the apex. every car is different to drive, thats why its best to get a new car to the track and find its limits and its reactions.. that is the only true test to how a car behaves. -
and check compression while the plugs are out... another thing to check is for vacuum leaks... split breather hoses etc.. the engine only has vacuum at idle and thats when these leaks are present... at driving and boosting, these leaks may not appear.

Quickest Lowmount Turbo'd Gtr In The World...
NZM.031 replied to NXTIME's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
that time has to be with slicks backin 1995... 8.4sec is awfully quick... the current cars and technologies struggle to match that with slicks.. but 8.4sec and the fun is over... all the money and time and preparation is all gone.. over in 8.4 sec.. doesnt make sense to me. -
real men dont need p/s or a/c.. remove the belts.. thats what steve mcqueen would do.

How Would You Build A Street Sleeper?
NZM.031 replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
subaru liberty wagon.. 3rd gen.. with a late model wrx engine and running gear.. keep standard wheels, just wrap em in semi slicks, and just lower it a little.. with a quiet exhaust and non obtrusive tip.. you would never pick it. -
i didnt realise the engine was in a vs... why would you desicrate an rb engine by putting in a commodore?? thats a terrible act.
-
maybe 5g.. you'd be better off removing all the good bits and selling them to turbo owners and then sell the car as a stocker... an auto atmo is pointless, 320km speedo is pointless, autometer gauges are both gay and pointless, and it may look like a d1 sedan... but it doesnt go like one.. and with king springs it wont handle like one.

hey all... im cruising shotgun with bakes... so unfortunatly you dont get to see my 32 break down for some god known reason.. maybe next time. was just about to ask about the food situation... and low and behold, after 13 pages, i find it being the very last post... thanks for clearing that up terry... i get very antzy if i dont get fed. haha. cant wait to see everyone... gonna be awesome, rain hail or shine. cheers Linton -
safcs are awesome bang for buck. they will do a good enough tune. if you replace your injectors, then look at a full ecu.. but for what youve got... a safc will do wonders.
-
hey... ease up... i had a t3/t4 jobby on my rb25 and gave it a rough tune... it worked well enough.. i used a safc 2, a big fuel pump and pressure reg to pump as much fuel as the stock injectors could handle... then leaned it out with more boost.. dodgy as fu(k i know... but it worked... and the car is still running, somewhere... the turbo let go though.
