  1. I used 3 silver skylines for my wedding, looks good. I would offer you my services but my bonnet looks dodgey, sorry
  2. Hey folks I need to get a house and really need to sell my car. I am Chasing the $32,000 mark for it "as is". Look at the price of other "GTR's" and this car is a very good buy, I am kicking myself in the head for offering it this cheap, I am lossing allot of money on it but I need to sell soon.
  3. i maxed my injectors with a GT30 at 19psi with 230Kw/520Nm. sold it before I ran bigger injectors. it still spooled up very quick and pulled like a frieght train.
  4. I'm open to serious offers over the $30K mark people. Bonnet needs a respray after some F#@KING poofter backed into it with a 4WD ute and drove off. Need to sell to get out of Debt. car is "AS IS" now.
  5. The car will be down in Ipswich in a few weeks folks so If your in the general area and interested hit me up soon.
  6. In Ipswich now folks so if someone in this general area is interested hit me up.
  7. That scratching noise is probably the turbine hitting the compressor cover, I've had two bearing cartridges collapse in the space of weeks and both needed new bearings and front compressor wheels and needed to go to Garret to be balanced. I got a bit of deal done but you would be looking at close to $800 i figure.
  8. Hey folks just a quick message to ask if someone is going to highflow thier standard GTR turbo's soon? I am asking as I have recently had an extra set steel wheeled and put them on my 33 GTR. when I had some drama's and one of the bearings collapsed I went to put the standard one's in the high mount position. When I was trying to spin the exhaust housing's around I have managed to snap the shaft's of one of my standard one's, too much sideways pressure on the exhaust wheel from the housing. I had intended to keep the second pair in standard trim. I am wondering if anyone would be willing to swap a good one for the one with a snapped shaft? Talking to the Turbo guy he said when they high flow them they generally snap the shaft when pulling the turbines apart so I figure it makes no difference in the end, it just means I will have a second pair sitting around. I am willing to pay for postage for the other person and a little cash adjustment or a bottle of something for thier trouble's. I will be living in Ipswich as of this weekend if anyone down there is willing.
  9. do a compression test, if one pot is heaps lower or all your pressures are fairly low (my 33 gtr was 180psi and it seems to be a fairly healthy motor to me) you have a problem. If a piston is down or rings are badly worn you'll see a bit of smoke in you exhaust as well. Did you really just go straight out and get a qoute to rebuild your motor with out doing some checks yourself?
  10. being in the electricity industry I see allot of Bakelite products and when it is fairly thin, as it would need to be with a gasket, it would be fairly fragile and as with a paper gasket with some age it becomes brittle. wouldn't the ambient temperature of the engine bay sort of rule out trying to stop heat transfer by using the gasket to stop metal to metal contact. in a GTR the first intake manifold has a gallery fed from the the head in it which feeds both cooloant supplies for the turbo's, one around the front of the motor and one around the back. The throttle bodies and intake plenum don't have any water galleries in them. but your not wrong about the gasket blowing out between the head and the first intake manifold, my 33 did it straight away and i just spent a day replacing the one on my wifes 32.
  11. Hey how's it going. I take it Damo tuned it again this time or did the other lad do it. He had my Skyline running with my setup and there wasn't a hint of detonation, that was with 10 degree's base ignition and 15 advanced at 19psi, and that was on Moranbah qaulity Premuim. so I don't know what's up with your pinging. does he know your running the additive? if he's tuned it with the additive and then you fill up and run standard it'll explain it. Your not wrong about the flat out bit, saw you last week and went to give you a wave and you where past before I could get the hand of the wheel. Good to see your getting some good gains out of the machine. Going to live down brissy way this weekend so cop-ulater.
  12. was following a D's car yesterday he's doing more than 60 in a school zone at the time he shouldv'e been doing 40 and he slows down at a stop sign then just drives straight through, doesn't stop. If only the work cruiser could accelerate as quick as his commowhore, i would've been shaking fists at him, fags.
  13. Is that KLO code silver off the 33's? Looks awesome anyway, the rims make it look so tuff it's not funny. kinda makes me wanna strip the bayside blue off the 32 and redo it silver.
  14. some of the fins are folded over. If i wanted to waste a few hours I could have them all straightened out. got interior pics if your interested, will post them later
  15. I've got it on usedcars.com as well. Most people interested have needed to sell there cars or wait for insurance and have been from brissy as well.
  16. Good luck with the sale "ricknismo", people this is a very nice looking car, hope you have some better luck selling than I do. I never knew yours was a V-spec.
  17. Hey people, we're moving down to Brisbane way (Ipswich) in two week's and if anyone is interested in the car hit me up for a look at it. I'm not really keen to move on the price as I can't really go any lower. It's had a fair bit of cash spent on it so I reckon it's a bit of a bargain.
  18. hey folks, I'll be moving down Brisbane way (Ipswich) in a couple of weeks so if anyone is slightly interested don't be afraid to hit me up, not really negotiable on price anymore, saying that, it's still a bargain.
  19. Well I sent an email to penrite and this is what I got back. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2005 2:52 PM To: Feedback Subject: Problems with HPR 10 To whom it may concern. Recently I have upgraded the turbo's put on to my 1995 Nissan Skyline 33 GTR V-spec. I have recently started using Penrite HPR 10 since the turbo upgrade, before hand I have used Shell helix replacing the filter and oil every 5000km's. I had the car running for 3 weeks with the new turbo's and I noticed that white smoke was coming from the exhaust. I had my turbo's inspected and one had a scored thrust seal and badly worn bearing in it. This had caused the front compressor wheel to skim the housing meaning I have needed to get a new front compressor wheel put on and a new seal and bearing kit put through that turbo. My other turbo when tested was fine. I was told by the turbo repairer that the turbo shaft had allot of lacquer on it and this had caused carbon to quickly build up and cause the damage. After 4 days and approx 10km's of driving I have noticed smoke once again coming from my exhaust and upon inspection have found that the second turbo has now had the bearing collapse and damaged the front compressor wheel as well. I have once again had my turbo repairer look at it and he has found exactly the same thing happen again. When talking to him he has asked what oil I am using and I told him Penrite HPR 10, he informed me that Penrite has a habit of causing the lacquer to build up on the turbo shaft causing the carbon to build up, rapidly wearing the bearings on the turbo resulting in damage to the shaft, seals and turbine's. He went on to say he has repaired quite allot of turbo's in the past where the owner has been running Penrite oils. A friend of mine with a 1997 Nissan Skyline 33 GTS-t has also had a Garret ball bearing turbocharger fail for no apparent reason, during the short time while waiting for the turbo to be repaired he has been running another turbo which has subsequently failed, he too has been running Penrite HPR 10. I am simply writing to inform you of what, at great expense to myself and others, seems to be happening when using Penrite oils. I would also appreciate some feed back on this apparent problem and unfortunately I do not believe I shall be using Penrite oils in the future. Please reply to the below mentioned email address. Regards awurth -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Tony Lawton [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, 9 March 2005 2:10 PM Subject: RE: Problems with HPR 10 Andrew, There is absolutely no reason at all why HPR 10 will cause laquer in turbos and cause turbo failures. If anything it has a higher performance level than most grades of Helix (you have not specified which one). What brand of turbo is yours? This problem has not been made aware to us before and I would think that if it we a problem with all turbos, that we would have heard about it by now. Some people used to run HPR 40 in older Garrets that were put onto 6 cylinder cars but we certainly do not recommend it these days as it is bit heavy for the modern style of engine. Your mechanic has used Penrite in the generic term and I would be interested to know what products he is referring to. The failure sounds catastrophic in nature given that it tested OK and 10kms later it died, ie no warning. If were a gradual thing, the test (whatever it was) should have picked up an issue. To be honest my first thought is a mechanical issue but what I would like to see is used oil from the engine post failure assuming you have not done a change since, to see what else may be going on in the engine. Please advise where you are and I will arrange for sample bottles and replacement product for you. Just in case it is very late today, can you please cc [email protected] with your response as I will be away for a week at close of business today. Tony Lawton Technical Manager Penrite Oil Company Ph 61 3 9801 0877 Fax 61 3 9801 0977 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sent: Wednesday, 9 March 2005 2:31 PM To: 'Tony Lawton' Subject: RE: Problems with HPR 10 Tony I am running the bush style bearing Garret turbochargers, I have actually disposed of the oil I was running, but my friend has not replaced his oil yet as his turbo charger has not been repaired yet. I will supply you with his mailing address so he can take a sample for you and return it to you. address upon removing the turbos I have flushed out all the oil lines and there is no residue or contamination, but when the turbos have been inspected there is allot of carbon build-up in the bearing area. 20. Just a quick story and a question. Recently had a set of standard GTR turbo's steel wheeled and highmounted on my car and my mate changed the oil for me when I wasn't there (he used Penrite HPR 10/50). He had a 550Hp ball bearing Garret fail for no apparent reason, oil flow and pressure was good, with limited K's and no real on boost time cause it was still to be tuned fully, he had used the same oil in his car. He then borrowed a turbo off a local mechanic in the mean time to keep his car running. When I was in there this weekend he took the inlet pipe off the front of the turbo and noticed some excessive play and after pulling it out the bearings where shot but it wasn't blowing smoke, the turbo guy pulled it apart on Monday and the shaft was laquered and had allot of carbon build up. After talking to him he told him he was using penrite HPR and the turbo guy said to stick well clear of it as about 5 years ago he rebuilt allot of turbo's that had been using penrite oils, he said then it was due to a problem with the base oil they use and a lack of additives, but they are able to rebuild the turbo for him. I ran my turbo's for 3 weeks till i noticed some smoke from the back, got the turbo's inspected and one had failed, scoring the thrust seal and shaft, dont know why this happened as oil pressure and flow is good. I had it fixed and put in what I thought was a good oil Penrite HPR 10/50, ran the turbos for approx 10'ks (4 trips for my wife to the shops and back) and noticed white smoke again. after pulling it all apart again it the other turbine has failed and after talking to the the Turbo guy again he found out what oil I used and gave me the same helpful information, Stick well clear of Penrite HPR. Apparently it crystalzes in the bearing housing of the turbo, laquers the shaft and causes carbon to build up ruins the bearings causing the seal to wear and let oil past, and all this very quickly. Sorry about the length of my story but now for my question has anyone had this problem or heard of others with it. And he recommended using Castrol GTX3 with some morries oil additive.
  21. Go the RGV250, i use to own one years ago and my wife owns now. They are a two stroke V-twin and they are machines, fast, agile and shape is still good and they held the lap record at phillip island till about 97' for a production bike an awesome feat and then again for a little bike. only get one if you don't mind the kick start. The only thing my wife hates about it.
  22. she'll take $24,000 for the car now. people this is a steal, it's got some good mods and it's still heaps of potential left in it. we're going to Brissy soon hopefully and we only need the one car.
  23. I'll take $35,000 for the car now. people this is a steal, it's got some good mods and it's still heaps of potential left in it. we're going to Brissy soon hopefully and we only need the one car.
  24. I welded a nut into the exhaust piping and put it back in on my old 33, on the GTR it just sit's tucked away above the heat shielding.
