i've got a new tie rod kit here including both ends just wondering if there is any tricks to know when doing this? it comes across as something fairly straight forward though i'm not 100% sure about the inner end, looks like it just screws in.. any tips would be good thanks

can't for the life of my work out why you're f**king around with upgrading to an r34 smic with plans to later upgrade again to a fmic gigantic waste of time and money
-
i had all the studs replaced and helicoiled when i destroyed the thread for a couple of them inside the head so they are all new yeah i'm aware it will have some lag, that 4500rpm was a figure i had from just after i put the turbo on. tbh i think it's even later now after i did a track day a few weeks ago and the sound that i think is the cat has kinda gotten a bit worse too

No Boost When Cold And Overboosting
mystery_kid replied to rorz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
you shouldn't be trying to drive on full boost when your car is cold also that rev range for boosting sounds about right is your car is as stock as you say it is drive without boosting for the first 5 - 10 minutes or more in winter if you don't want to wreck your engine -
just out of curiosity, what brand radiator did you get?

Help Sounds Like Running On 5 Cylinders?
mystery_kid replied to tdbzs12's topic in General Maintenance
plug, coilpack, injector... check all the little plugs for the fuel injectors are on properly -
you assumed wrong, fyi

there isn't a debate to he had, smic's are shit
-
also as far as losing power that goes with a cat dying etc, it does come on boost fairly late i realise it's a bigger turbo but it's dead set not full boosting until around 4500rpm for 0.8bar

recently i put an r34 gt-t turbo in my r32gts-t anyway since then i've had this odd sounds, it kind of sounds like it could be an exhaust leak or something rattling even it loudest from under the passenger side door, but you can hear it a bit in the engine bay at first i thought it was an exhaust leak from the joint in the exhaust between the front pipe and cat i can confidently say that isn't the problem after replacing the gasket and bolts and what not at first i instantly thought it was an exhaust leak from a turbo gasket but i have been over these and they certainly do no appear to be leaking all the nuts and bolts are done up tight the head to exhaust mani gasket has also been replaced a bit less than a year ago. (all gaskets were replaced with legit nissan items) this sound is driving me insane, i'm now left thinking has my cat collapsed? could shit be rattling around inside of it because it sounds like it when i lay under the car the cat isn't anything special it's been welded onto the exhaust on the outlet side of it because the exhaust is 3.5" and the front pipe is 3" the cat is either stock or something but it's 3" is it even possible to have something rattling around in a cat? i'll admit i don't really know what goes into one Thanks Dan ps. as far as losing power that goes with a cat dying etc, it does come on boost fairly late i realise it's a bigger turbo but it's dead set not full boosting until around 4500rpm for 0.8bar

i'm pretty sure this isn't a metal cat and i can't pull it off because it's welded to the back half of the exhaust :\
-
cops are going to pull you up regardless of whether you have a smic or a fmic people are retarded to think otherwise having a smic or a fmic doesn't change the fact you're driving a skyline

Hi my calipers need rebuilding on the front, there isn't many threads on it i've already searched. so has anyone done this themself recently? did you just get the kit from nissan or elsewhere? has anyone had it done that could recommend me a decent priced place in brisbane, i just rang ABS and they wanted $400 just for the fronts... i'm not opposed to doing myself, not real keen on getting brake fluid everywhere either so i'm tossing up whether to do it myself or take it somewhere thanks

Rb20det With R34 Rb25det Turbo
mystery_kid replied to mystery_kid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah i'm not too worried i'll just get used to it and what gears to use goes pretty good when you give it the berries -
Rb20det With R34 Rb25det Turbo
mystery_kid replied to mystery_kid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
2nd/3rd it seems fairly similar for both as i said 4300 might have been an exageration it's hard to tell exactly cause when it does come on boost you need your eyes on the road cause it goes pretty good once it's there lol but it's deinfiely not until 4000~ minimum -
Rb20det With R34 Rb25det Turbo
mystery_kid replied to mystery_kid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
it's just an r32 with the standard mods, 3" exhaust, pod filter, front mount etc it's telling me it's hitting 0.7bar so 10psi it's definitely just after 4000, maybe not 4300. -
so i've just installed an R34 rb25 turbo in my r32gts-t it's not full boosting until around 4200~rpm i know it's slightly bigger than the r33 version but shit it's pretty laggy does this sound right?

Frontbar/intercooler Airflow Question
mystery_kid replied to mystery_kid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yep that was my other line of thinking, cutting it away would lose concentration on the bit that the air does flow through and weighing up if it's worth it. I didn't add that in cause it was confusing enough as it was lol I know realistically i need an alluminium radiator, i was just playing around with this idea as something easy to do to possibly improve things -
Frontbar/intercooler Airflow Question

that's normal in first gear, it revs so fast it doesn't really get time to pressurise fully as long as it's hitting it in the rest of the gears if you really want to test if you're boosting correctly do it in 4th or 5th gear

Frontbar/intercooler Airflow Question
mystery_kid replied to mystery_kid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok here is a cross section drawing right down the middle of the front bar intercooler is in grey, front bar is in dark blue the area i've marked in red is what i'm talking about, if i cut some of that away from the intercooler to allow air to flow up there
