Spotted a very tuff looking V-Spec on Glen Osmond Road earlier this arvo

had a quick look at the specs Cubes........ 20-65-65-20 with .350" (8.9mm) valve lift seems relatively mild.....however this equates to approx 50 deg of overlap and 265 (20+65+180) duration which I think is actually abit more than stock cams (I don't know what standard cam specs are). As a standard rule of thumb, if you increase duration, you generally increase overlap (definitely in single cam engines)......the advantage over having 2 cams is that you can retard the exhaust and give more separation between IN & Ex centres, giving you less overlap and widening your power band. If you've played with the gears it may explain why you have some good useable power. Hmmm........there is a test apparently to confirm whether the solenoid is stuffed.......just have to work out what it is Are you referring to the intake & throttle body gaskets?.......most peeps seem to be going metal these days, got any contacts for a good price on metal gaskets?

Yeah mine idles way too high. I'm guessing the AAC valve is the accessible the one near the fuel filter which can be cleaned whereas the IAC is probably the "cold air by-pass solenoid" which is against the sandwich plate under the centre throttle body which requires a plenum removal and which can't be cleaned (approx $220 new). Also Cubes, have you got the full specs on your Tighe cams ie. IN & EX opening & closing times etc......I might look into them myself.

heck yeah Luke, you name the place & time..........I didn't think they could be cleaned I hope not Ryan, haven't had a chance to give it a spray to check for leaks......either way, I reckon the plenum would have to come off to check the valve. Where can I get some metal intake & throttle body gaskets cheap?

does anyone know what that idle valve is officially called that sits under the plenum and where to get one other than genuine Nissan? I think mine might be stuff because it idles too high

yeah already tried that Dan but XL can be anywhere between 60 & 67cm for chest and 74 & 78cm for length, depending on who makes it.

hey Adrian, I went in there today but they had run out of JB stock. I tried other brands but sizes were all over the place....one brand I needed 'L' while another brand I needed 'XXL'. Does anyone else keep JB stock that I can try on? Also, can you get children's sizes for my boy?

I hear ya Chops & Cronic. It amazes me how some bogans can't see past their noses and anticipate the potential trouble they can find themselves for a few seconds of rage that makes them feel like heroes. Some of you might remember a young lad recently with his dad in the car being chased by a car load of hoons because he gave them the finger......he ended up dead and the old man couldn't do a thing about it. Around the same time there was a similar situation with a lad and his blind dad or uncle in the car who couldn't help the lad from being bashed by bogans after the lad gave them the finger or verbal abuse. The bogans that do this stuff don't realize that for a few seconds of heroics they could spend the rest of their lives either in jail or pick on the wrong car one day and end up dead themselves. They'll pick on the wrong car one day with an outlaw club member who's armed.......90% of the time the clubbies drive around in old bomb dailys, not their bikes! Like I said earlier, smile and move on..........they're looking for a knee jerk reaction from you so in their distorted thinking they can justify bashing you.......don't give them a reason! At the end of the day, I'm usually in the car cause I need to get somewhere so I don't have the time to either be chased by idiots or to pull over and crack their skulls.
