  1. R34 GTT guy with no name, I'll see you there Tony, would love to participate more, but with 3 young kids and a business, time is the killer. I'll try to make more of an effort though. Birds, sadly the prime of my stable, the Mazda6, has been sold . Happily it's been replaced by this nice 335i which is running some mods and is about 100hp up on factory power. It's very fast (does a mean burnouts) and also refined and luxurious etc. Highly recommended daily. I picked mine up for $30k (plus the cost of the mods) so they're hardly expensive either. I'll have to update my profile now
  2. Anyone else coming? I'll be there in my 32R. First time out in a long time, and even longer for my GTR. Had oil changed, front rotors machined, got the track rims and tyres re-balanced (just a precaution). Lots of little things still to do. I've had vents put into the front of the front wheel liner to create airflow through the oil cooler, and also brake ducts run from the front bar to the center of the rotors. Be interesting to see if that helps keep temps more under control. First time on the track with my 9L sump too so hopefully there will be no spun bearings for me... Weather looks good enough. Nice and cool with a possible shower.
  3. http://www.replay-xd.com.au/ Anyone got a camera from these guys. Guy at Camzilla said they're supposed to be good for in-car even though they don't stock them. Bike guys seem to like them but perhaps as they're very small. They're reviewed OK, but online reviews are suspicious in my view. They rarely appear to be objective and unbiased and GroPro seems to dominate everywhere.

    Go Pro

Perhaps bumping this thread is the best way to ask my question. I've got as trackday coming up and want a video camera to capture my pro driving skillz So what are my options? Let's not worry about price for the time being. GoPro seems to be the default choice but what other options are there? Within the GP stable there are HERO 4 Black, Silver and 3+ Sliver that would be of interest. Things that put me off the 3+ silver are: Clearly shoots in less high 'HD'. Poorly expressed but you know what I mean. Not sure I care as I'm not looking to make pro movies here High bitrate video is 'only 25mb/s compared to 45 Lower level 'low light performance' No 'auto low light' feature No Bluetooth connectivity - do I care as it's got wireless? No Protune for manual setting control - but will I really need this? I fiddle with my DSLR but there is so much going on with video capture that perhaps less is more No simultaneous video & photo - I'm assuming this is for getting high quality stills from your videos No built in touch display (which is also missing from 4 Black, but curiously is on the 4 Silver I don't want to over-buy but some of the above seem important and others not so much. Be good to get some feedback from experienced users. Thanks.
  5. What's the latest thinking for in car video? I've got a track day on the 31st Jan and I'd like to get some footage. Latest GoPro is a HERO4 Black which is pricey considering the extras you have to buy. Unsure of other options. Be good to get your thoughts. Cheers.
  6. Never completed this thread! Ramps work a treat (hold the weight and no permanent deflection and the perfect length / angle) and I got 2 x 20 footers with side access doors to allow easy access into and out of the car. Only downside is you've got to watch things on a windy day as the doors want to slam shut when you're driving the car up the ramps! Skyline in the background isn't mine! The other container has the GTR. So far there doesn't seem to be any adverse affects with heat or moisture etc. I'd guess it's a lot better overall than leaving them in the sun and rain.
  7. Hi, need a recommendation for someone who can do a quality job for me. Ideally located near Dandenong or SE suburbs of Melbourne. Many thanks.
  8. OK. Perhaps what I'll do is get a Vic RWC checklist and send it up to them so they can check off against it. Thanks mate.
  9. G'day guys. I'm thinking of buying an BMW out of Canberra and bringing it back to Melbourne. I'm getting it inspected by Anthony Costello in Fyshwick which is fine. The thing I'm unsure about is whether there are roadworthy certificates in the ACT and what standard they are to. In Vic if you'e disposing of a car with plates (private sale) you need a RWC. In Vic it's like Nazi Germany getting these done. They are very strict especially when compared to Qld and NSW where it seems a lot slacker. I guess if you do have them, and they are really strict, the person inspecting the car will probably do so in a way that will be helpful for me when it gets to Vic. If they're anything like Qld, as long as the brakes half work and it's not gushing fluids underneath, you get your certificate. So how rigorous is all of this in the ACT? Thanks.
  10. Troy where have you been all my life? Did you forget your SAU login for a while there?
  11. Just sold my Motec dash / data logger!
  12. I had all the HICAS stuff removed (lines pump etc) and a lock bar fitted and my steering has been heavy ever since. Nizpro said there was nothing that could be done about it.... The heavy steering is not great (in fact I hate it), but removal of the HICAS system is. So much more predictable. Before that I never noticed heavy steering on track days. Never needed anything but light hands on the wheel.
  13. Paul, sub 1.20s is getting quick. Well done. Be interested so see the rad set up you're considering as track temps are always an issue...Maybe let me know when you're down at Trackart next as I've got to go there too? Cheers.
  14. I've got Toyota Kluger that is in poor shape cosmetically. Previous driver took no care with it. It's now my wife's car and frankly she's not wrapped about getting about in it looking like she doesn't give a damn about its condition. So, it's nothing major. Small dints and scratches in both the plastic and the metal, but there is a bit of it. There are also a few minor tears in the interior such as on the centre console lid that I'd like repairing. Not looking to spend a fortune as the car is a 'stop gap' car, and we'll sell it in a year. But it's too rough for our tastes and we won't realise it's value if we don't get it looking better. So, located SE suburbs of Melbourne, and ideally Dandenong, where is a good place to fix it up without spending a fortune? Panel beater, paintless dent removal, bumper touch up place, interior trimmer / vinyl welder? Looking for a recommendation where it can all be done at once. Thanks guys.
  15. Now for sale $2,200 for the lot. Tested and 100% confirmed as working. Will start a for sale thread too. PM if interested.
  16. Photo uploads fixed? Or is it just me? Seems there are threads post dating mine and they have photos in them. I've tried uploading from a Mac and a PC and both upload options with no luck...I've even tried re-creating the thread and still can't upload to that! I'm all out of luck Christian. Help
  17. Quick update. MoTeC have been very helpful and this is what I've got: An older ADL with 1mb of logging activated out of 4mb. 30 i/o ports enabled Timing beacon Loom to suit 996 GT3 with 'some' sensors I'm taking it to Motorsport Electrics next week to get it all tested (to be 100% sure it all works) and fully bottom out what I've got. After that it's all going to be for sale and I'll create another thread for that. Cheers.
