  1. I've never used an external flash so I don't know how good they are. I'm certainly aware of the limitations of the built in flash in terms of how it wrecks and image with cold / white light and shadows. I mostly use flash to take out shadows in bright external situation e.g. taking a photo of someone with the sun at their back. I just can't see someone who is travelling bothering putting an external flash on top of an already heavy camera and asking everyone to 'hold the moment'. I've also never used a full frame camera so I don't know what I'm missing. I do know the images I get from my 7D are amazing and if you've not had a DSLR before, even the 350D will impress nevermind, a 650D, 7D or 5D. And yeah I'm no expert on shopping around locally but I couldn't find anything to match the value of HK eBay. Yeah, prolly lucky with the GST thing.....I even got it shipped to my holiday appartment in Noosa and it turned up on time not a drama. Anyhow, there's my 2c.
  2. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/373691-gauges/page__hl__gauges__fromsearch__1 This may help or give you something more to think about if you've not found it already.
  3. 5D has no built in flash which in my opinion makes it very inflexible unless you want to cart around an external flash. Hardly entry level either. 7D has the flash, but again, hardly entry level. I've just upgraded from the 350D (current equivalent is the 650D) to the 7D which is much heavier and bulkier. Yes, the new camera is better but I've had great service from the 350D (with crappy OEM lens kit) and has the added benefit of being usefully more compact and lighter than the higher end cameras. As for buying locally, saving 10% GST won't make it worth your while IMHO. I've bought several times from Hong Kong eBay and never had a problem. I got the 7D, ISF zoom lens, filters, 32GB CF card, lens hood for $2k landed. Body alone is more than that in AUS.....
  4. Colour only really adds the gold in the wheels. Cat photo for the laughs.
  5. Thanks Troy. I appreciate the compliment as son of rajab knows the time money and effort that's gone into it. and yet there is still always so much to do.....
  6. Test drove a 130i from a dealer once. Asked the sales person if I could do a burnout to see if it spun nice and clean with no axle tramp. She said no problems. Same deal with a 350Z. No worries. BMW sales chick was ace. Nissan guy just couldn't have cared less.
  7. There I was thinking it was all about me....
  8. Far as I know these are not N1. Just what came with the car.
  9. OK, so I can't figure out how to link / embed a photo from photobucket into the thread so you just see the image in the post. Can someone give me a steer in the right direction?
  10. Yep, exceptional work there. Let me know when's for sale.....
  11. More than likely me having a small sook about letting my favourite car ever, go for a song. Final price was $17k so if you look you can find great cars (yeah the colour isn't the best but the car.....). I daily drove this for about 18 months but gave up after that as it just got too hard. Mostly driving to and from work. No milk bar runs etc. You'd have to be pretty hardy driving one daily with no more comfy alternatives. As for loans on cars, they are appropriate depending on circumstances. You got assets, then you can spend on some toys. You buy toys before assets you'll more than likely be behind the 8 ball all your life. Instant gratification is the curse of the younger generation. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/358528-1992-r32-gtr/page__fromsearch__1
  12. BBS LM 18 x 9 +20 R34 GTR 18 x 9 +30 R33 GTR 17 x 9 +30 All great options. GTR rims are forged and relatively inexpensive. Go 17s for cheaper rims, tyres, and prolly better handling but not if you think you're ever going for big brakes. Hence I sold my mint R33 GTR rims. Wish I didn't. Maybe R33 for $1,000 and R34 for $1,800 then tyres. Not sure what change you get from $2k for good track tyres but others will point you right I'm sure.
  13. Thought I'd bump this up. There are many to choose from but I don't want to invest in setting up one to find out there is better. To be more specific about my needs I'd like to be able to create folders and set access permissions to each of the folders. Ideally it will be easy to access / navigate as not everyone who will go there to get images wil be that familiar with it. This can't be that uncommon but be good to hear from those who use. Annual fees seem relatively low so if paying makes one site an obvious choice then that's OK by me. Thanks.
  14. Hi guys, what's the best easiest to use these days? I often take photos I'd like to share with people. Flickr, Photobucket etc. Is there a 'go-to' site? Thanks. Photos attached for interest!
  15. Thanks Terry. Keep the advice coming guys. Washed the 32 R today and thought I'd post it up for all to see.
  16. Time to move our trustly Subaru Liberty GT Wagon on to pastures greener. We're going the full people mover experience and reckon the Elgrand is the way to go. Far better value and cooler than the other rubbish options available IMHO. We'll be buying in Vic so any helpful pointers would be appreciated in terms of reputable dealers and pointers regarding the vehicles themselves. Ideal spec list would be good, including engine specs that are best etc. My be best you point me to another site I can have a look at. So far I've found http://www.nissanelgrand.com.au/forum/index.php which sounds what I need but I'm sure the SAU community can come up with some good info. Much appreciated.
  17. 11mm from the back of the spoke to the face of the caliper and 74mm from the back of the spoke to the face of the rotor.
  18. I need new O2 sensors. Tuner said they're dead and Nissan wants about $400 for the pair. Are there any other options? I presume second hand is a waste of time as they'll be dead or dead soon as they'll be as old and knackered as mine. Why new ones? Fuel consumption is through the roof. 300klms on a tank driving easy. Also tuner has suggested the AAC valve is leaking under high boost and might be worth replacing. $750 from Nissan! Same question, is there another option either aftermarket or second hand. If this is covered elsewhewre please point me in the right direction. Have done some basic searches, but..... Thanks guys.
  19. This. It's a friendly approachable scene and a great entry point into the sport. Be very daunting setting out on your first Tarmac Rally if it was THC, TWP, TT and without the benefit of doing some touring stuff to get your eye in and do some homework.
  20. I run 18 x 9.5 and 18 x 9 both + 20 offset with 265/35/18 on my 32r and they rub on the front guard liner on suspension compression. Probably worse when lock is applied too. They only catch the guard by a poofteenth and have worn some material off the moulding around the screws that fixt the liner on. But rub they do. Rears are fine but only just. Camber and ride height wil make a difference to the equation. It must vary from car to car as I've heard too many times that 18 x 10 +20 fit no worries but you can see my experience doesn't line up with this. My advice is at these sizes you are in the 'will just fit / are slightly too large' zone so proceed with caution and trial fit if possible. From a looks perspective (again from my point of view) these rims and tyre specs are the best. In my opinion you should not go past 18s.....
  21. Will check for you later (car not with me now) but it's not mega like the curvey spoke design rims like TE37s. From memory nor is it so tight you'd be concenred about it on my set up.
  22. I have AP CP5555 calipers (Troy did I get that right?) on 355mm rotors and run BBS LMS 18 x 9 +20 and they fit fine. Hope that help some.
  23. G'day guys. I'm having a play in the touring section at Lake Mountain this weekend. I'm either in a white 996 GT3 or a silver 32R. Look forward to meeting whoever is going.
