Prolly should have said there is a voltage leak somewhere and the battery normally goes dead after 2 weeks. It sat in the car subject to the leak for 6-8 months. Sounds like I've killed it. So new battery needed and this time I'll keep it out of the car (not on concrete) and on a top up charger.
-
Yeah, I know lack of use killed it, but killed it for good? I'd have thought I could bring it back from the dead but it doesn't look that way as it won't charge on my charger / charge maintenance jigger. Is it a chuck out job?
-
One of my 32 GTRs sits around a little - say 6 months since last started. Tried to fire it up the other day using jumper leads from GTR II and she wouldn't turn over. Ended up swapping batteries in the end. I grabbed the dead battery and hooked her up to a jigger I've got that maintains the batteries charge, and it won't charge. If I hook the jigger to any other battery I've got either the red light comes on the charger indicating it needs a top up or the green light comes on telling me the battery is 'full'. So the battery from my oft not used GTR seems to be stuffed. I didn't disconnect it whilst it was sitting around, which in hindsight I probably should have done. So my questions are: Is my battery stuffed or do I need to hook it up to a proper trickle charger to breath some life into it? What stuffed the battery? It just sat there after all. Why can't I charge it up? It was new a couple of years ago and gets little use. How should you store your battery in a car with very infrequent use? (this car is not parked where the jigger can be used). Out of car hooked up to the jigger? Just disconnect and charge up the night before you need to use it? Thanks.

So I'm looking for 6x4 front spreakers and this is a photo of the cavity where they need to go into. A couple of questions: I've seen mention of coaxial speakers. I know what coax cable looks like for TVs, but what does this mean for car speakers and are they compatible with the wiring in the photo from my car (sorry for crap photo)? Can anyone advise what the standard rear speaker size is for an R32 GTR? Thanks. Aaron, I've not forgotten you. Prob give you a call today. EDIT I've also attached pics of the existing speakers for what it's worth.

Weekend wash bump. I must be mad selling this car.
-
I need to buy some speakers for my GTR. 2 for the rear parcel shelf and 2 for the front doors. I'm not interested in top end stuff and just want something that is basic and will do a half decent job without being shitty. It's important that they just fit into the existing holes and under the covers. I'm pretty sure the existing ones are the stock items or at least like for like replacements for the OEM ones. Anyone make a recommendation or point in the direction of something suitable that it second hand. I've had a bit of a search and couldn't find anything but must admit I didn't try tooooo hard. Thanks.

Are Semi Slicks Tires Legal On Roads?
LotusGTR replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
From personal experience you will tire (pun not originally intended but I'll take it anyway) of track semis on the road very quickly. It's like having the NVH turned up to 11. I've driven a few klms on semis on the street and I'm always desparate to get my other set of rims on after a week or so. There are not that many opportunities to use their performance on the road either (though I did have a stunning drive down the GOR on a set once) so the upside is small and the downside is large. Just go a performance street tyre as all others have said. -
Recent oil and fitler change & speedo cable replaced (was getting noisy).

Easter bump.

Anyone? Last bump before I let the wheel repair guy do his best. Someone out there has without doubt trod this path and knows what to do. SOS.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/244305-wheel-repair-and-painting-r34-gtr-rim-paint-colour/ Not that you deserve it.
-
Any ideas? I hunted one down for the R34 GTR so I'm guessing there has to be something for the 32??
-
I'm not going away over the Easter break so by all means contact me if you want to see the car. Cheers.
-
Guys, anyone know if there is such a thing? Considering doing up a set of rims but for some reason I think the colour and finish will be hard to replicate from factory and it must be just like factory. I'll take any other advice on offer while we're at it. They'll be going to Wheel Solutions in Richmond. Thanks.

PMs sent. Cheers.

Tarmac Rallying Perpetual Thread
LotusGTR replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
A little off topic, especially considering the timing, but I'm going to Tassie with my car (on the boat) in the couple of months. I'm staying at Coles Bay for a couple of nights and won't be straying too far once there. I've got 3 hours to kill on arrival before my wife flies in, and then there is the journey to / from Coles Bay plus any worthwhile detours I could consider. I'm looking for some fun driving roads and thought if anyone would know it'd be the Targa crew. If you've got any suggestions then perhaps PM so we can keep this thread clean(er). Cheers. -
Some boot, under bonnet, interior and random photos to help those interested. ^^ Thanks Ben. You live in the street with the speed humps, east side of Booran Rd? Think I've seen your R34.

1992 R32 GTR Nearly 195,000 klms. I bought it Nov 09 from Shane Rainman @ Power Rd Cars Sales, freshly imported with 177,000 on the clock and the paperwork substantiates these as legit klms Was bone stock (cat back & Teins) when bought and now has the following specs: Engine / Power Garrett -7 Turbs – pics attached before they were fitted Nistune – tuned by Status Tuning Tomei adjustable cam gears R34 GTR dumps, Blitz 70/80mm front pipe, Nissan CAT, some sort of aftermarket rear section – nice note and not too loud G Reddy Profect B II EBC (fitted in glovebox for stealth) Running approx. 290 RWKW on Trent's dyno @ approx. 18psi – dyno sheet attached with 2 tunes shown. Later tune is dialing-in the cam wheels and you can see the affect that had on torque delivery Splitfire coilpacks & new copper plugs Motor unopened but had Trent compression test it when coilpacks fitted and it's 165 across all cylinders – got a written report New water pump, cam belt, front seal and 100k service done Engine bay looks 100% stock and very clean Driveline New single plate Exedy Sport Organic Clutch bought from Kudos. Flywheel machined Gearbox standard and works well (in fact of the 2 cars I have this box shift the sweetest). Very little 'roll over' noise which GTRs can have Suspension Tein SS (Jap Spec) suspension Had recent alignment at Traction Tyres Brakes Brand new Nissan master cylinder fitted Pads unknown but plenty left and fine for street driving – no squealing OEM Nissan cross drilled rotors – must have been replaced at some stage Wheels / Tyres Std R32 GTR rims in pretty good nick and virtually no rash Proper, quality 20mm hub-centric bolt on spacers for a nice stance Brand new Toyo tyres (not overly sporty ones but Jap made MY10 and brand new i.e. not even fitted to the rims yet) Interior Totally stock and in excellent condition Steering wheel immaculate No seat rips Got a small dash bubble as many do Got a basic stereo that looks low key but works fine, and as far as I can tell original, and pretty average, speakers. TBH, if this is a big deal to you I'd rather not sell you the car. Exterior Wine red…whatever it's officially called I'm not sure Very good condition overall and totally stock. I'd say it's been hit with paint at some stage but it presents very well. Come and see it and we can talk through it. You make your own mind up as I'm no expert Misc Immobiliser with 2 working fobs which also activate central locking 2 proper GTR keys plus a workshop spare Why Selling My business has a company owned Mazda6 Wagon coming off lease in early June which I will likely purchase for my private use in place of the GTR as family transport requirements take a greater hold of my life . I have another R32 GTR (silver) sitting under a cover in a garage not getting any use so it makes more sense to have a comfy family car and the GTR rocket for when the mood takes me. At least the silver beast would get a run every now and again. Legals Registered to Nov 2011 (and complied) It will be sold with a RWC It is privately registered and is financially unencumbered. General BS All mechanical work was done approx Feb 2010 by Trent @ Status (before he stopped doing it). All receipts available. It's a beautiful car that was clearly well looked after by owner #1 (I was told by the vendor that he suspected it was a 1 owner car – we can discuss why I personally think it's true if you're interested) and anyone who knows GTRs can see the things I've done to it are sensible / responsible mods. Always been serviced every 5000klms with Motul 300v. I drive this car daily from my driveway in Caulfield to my private car spot in Dandenong Monday to Friday. That's it. No milkbar runs, no car parks, no Chapel St, no smoking, no drinking, no fornicating, drag racing etc (is life passing me by?). It is a good daily driver (as far as GTRs go) and I've will miss it a great deal when gone. I get 450 – 500 klms to a tank. Never tracked by me, and I'd guess ever. It's never let me down, starts first time every time. Has a nice low, even idle. You are welcome to have it mechanically inspected but I'm generally busy and the inspection will have to be during business hours and in Dandenong. I would suggest Status Tuning if they can be bothered. Be warned I'll be taking a very cautious approach to letting anyone drive this car before you show me the colour of your money. Low-balling time wasters will be spotted a mile off and I won't be dealing with you. Macdoodle69 please do not post in my thread. To all others, this is a genuine sale and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have about the car and to facilitate the sale. I'll be favouring SAU'ers with good provenance on the forums as I'd like the car to go to someone who will appreciate it and look after it. $22,000 not negotiable. Contact via PM. Come get it. Looking For A Clean R32 Gtr
LotusGTR replied to MP_R33's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
C'mon mate. Give us some real pics. Sounds great. -
Caution. 2 GTR 2 GTST if it's the set I found.
-
Well it's an older model ADL with 1mb of data logging and 30 IOs. I visited MoTeC this arvo and got it checked out. By the time I left I decided not to sell it. They said to replace the current set up new would be circa $15k and that mine was still pretty useful. I got a full demo of the data logging capabilities and at that point I wanted to keep it. I'll post up if I change my mind. As an aside it was an impressive facility and the tech support guy I spoke with was very enthusiastic and helpful and free with his time. I suspect this product is well supported.

40 in March. I'm nearly up there with Terry.
-
Thanks Terry. Yeah, kept speeds to 100kms per the instructions. Well, I've done the 40km drive to work and no lights on the dash, but the torque gauge was on a minimum reading of 5 and was much more active than usual. On light throttle applications where more torque was required (e.g. slight incline whilst doing 100) the gauge would dip up and down slightly and there was a slight pulling pushing sensation from the driveline. So, clearly the OD of the spare was not the same as the rims and it was a little upset. Hopefully I'll get it fixed before the drive home....... I do have 2 of the space saver spares and I'd be a lier if I said I'd not thought of putting both on the back and seeing what impact that had on the 'handling' of the car in 2wd mode.......
