  1. So, first time I drive my car in 3 weeks and I cop a flat on the way home. Good news is it happens close to home and I make it back to HQ before it goes totally flat on me. I've put the space saver on and I'm guessing the rolling diameter will be different to the 18's I've got shod in 265/35 rubber. Any dramas with the 4WD system and the rear diff to consider? Clearly I'll be taking it easy and I'll be getting the puncture repaired tomorrow but......? Thanks. p.s. driving to work tomorrow at 06.00 so would appreciate a prompt reply.
  2. Yeah, I did Steve. It's a great car but let me tell you the common garden variety GTR stacks up very well against it. Very well indeed. It's only when you compare the GTR to a car like this you realise how great they are. I'm yet to punt the GT3 around PI and Sandown as fast as my 300kw GTR..... I'm yet to call MoTeC but as soon as I know what I've got and done some further research on pricing I'll post up all details.
  3. I just checked under the hood and there is no turbo, so it's the speedo and cash my way.
  4. what's this mean then? 'eek...made to sell it out of your car.' It's out of the car and it'll be a palava getting it back in. It's not back lit and given my car sees road work too, this is a pain. It's getting sold!
  5. It came out of 996 GT3. I'll ring MoTeC and get the details later this week and post them up.
  6. Hi guys, this stuff came out of a car I recently bought and I have no need for it as I don't take things that seriously. They are a Motec timing beacon and a Motec dash with loom. I'm not sure what features are on the dash but knowing the previous owner of the vehicle I'd suggest it's loaded with all options (I'll investigate this with Motec and the last owner before selling them). I've never used them but they came off a fully prep'ed Targa car and were ll working fine as of the last TT. So, my questions are what do I have, what are they worth and how best do I go about selling them (aside from this forum)? Thanks.
  7. Nice to see this forum knows you're getting engaged. Does your girlfriend? Perhps it's a generational thing but I'd have thought she'd be the first to know, and that it would be a surprise....? I'd keep the car, as as life goes on it will likely yield you less opportunities for such things, unless you do well, which you may, and you may not. If ownership means you're begging favours i.e. keeping the car in your parents garage then unfortunately you're going to have to consider their opinions on the matter. Forget chasing 11s would also be my advice. Be happy you have a GTR and use the 11s fund to invest, provide for the future of your relationship and inevitable offspring. Good luck either way.
  8. You're ace Rowan. I thoroughly enjoyed that mad nonsense.
  9. I just bought something pretty darn sexy from a well known Stuttgart manufacturer and this makes me wonder.........if......I.......should.......have...... Congratulations. Very well done.

Briefing notes from MSCA organising this weekend at PI say (see below) Doesn't mention anything about a dB requirement or black flagging etc. Obviously the absence of such specific information doesn't mean you're in the clear, but at least it's not in black and white. Seems at least noise is a sensitive issue and certainly before 9.00. Hope that helps. So Phillip Island . DO NOT FORGET ABOUT NOISE RESTRICTIONS. No Noise at all before 9am. This is a restriction on all track users and only the V8's and Moto GP people are exempt. The Competitors have to push cars at RAce meetings, and yes, the scrutiny bay is uphill. Obviously cars that are driven to the track may drive , but no revving of engines will be allowed. Trailer cars may be started to unload but must keep revs to an absolute minimum . Any blatant abuse may result in the driver being sent home

Hmmmmm....I'm booked in for this Sunday at PI and Sandown 5th Dec. Got 2 consecutive big nights out before the 12th so that's off the cards for sure
  12. Stay here. Not cheap, but nice. Stop in the Coonawarra (Penola) too. Great wines. Great Nuns. http://www.padthawayestate.com/

I'm goin to be at PI on Sunday. Anyone else going to be there?
  14. Yeah, I've had a screw driver left in the channel formed by the front guards and the bonnet. Even handed it in a week later to the owner who said it wasn't his......
  15. Thanks guys......No welding under bonnet that I'm aware of. I'm not going to commit to figuring out how a welding filler rod could randomly appear on my car.......
  16. Was washing my car (32 GTR) and found this at the base of the windscreen, almost under the back of the bonnet. I'm not even sure it's automotive but it has a stamp on it. Any clues? Car is parked in my front garden so could be some random thing??
  17. Thanks Duncan, are your comments relating to dry or wet performance? I just don't want to find out they're hopeless in the wet if it's raining on a couple of up coming track days. Cheers.
  18. Guys, I've got a new set of rims that same with these. They are a semi and are about 50% worn, but in good shape otherwise. Anyone used them? I'm probably most concerned about their wet performance as dry is, well, dry and the worst that can happen is my times are down if the tyres are not suitable. Wet is kinda more about not coming off, so a little more important. Thanks.
  19. Well, I think the wheels do fit fine. I think the tyres are too big without guard mods and other trickery. If I had my time again I'd go 255s or a smaller fitting 265 but good luck establishing that until it's too late. Personally, I'd not put anything on wider that 9.5 +22 but there are many opinions on this so it's up to you to decide what you reckon. There is nothing else to say.
