Why Are My Tyre Marks So Piss Weak?
LotusGTR replied to EXEMPT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes. -
Just a reminder that this car is for sale.

Did anyone ever dig up a mobile detailer? If not can anyone recommend a good detailer who charges reasonable prices in / near Dandenong South (I'm tipping there's a few). Thanks.

That car overtook me on the Ring right on the entry to Carousel when I was there on a track day in 2009. Went through bottomed out the whole time. Sparks were a flyin. Needless to say it was quickly gone.

Pretty fast mate. Don't wear your toupe when you're in it! I'm not sure it's done much track time as it's only done 5k klms most of which has been development work. I do know that with road tires and a passenger it did about 1.15 around Sandown on a sighting lap, so it's quick enough. Ultimately how quick I'm not sure. It's an F3000 suspension set up with a 600-700hp/ton power to weight with a dog box so it's likely to be quick. I'd guess most hack drivers wouldn't get near its potential and let's face it that's what most of us are.

You have a Radical? What's your view on who might buy V2? Yeah, my mistake with the V2 thing. Just a name that came off the top of my head and not what it will be called. With bespoke and V2 I've not done that well on the naming front.......

Na rotors are too loud in this car as there is no room to package an adequate exhaust. 1st engine was a PP and gave issues. Yeah LS etc V8s are the plan and my understanding is the new Ford units are alloy.
-
Yeah, jargon is to be reviled but I'm not as senstive to bespoke as you are. I just couldn't think of a better way to describe it. I'll certainly give this feedback to the creator for him to consider. The rotor is not coming out of the current car. The current car is a one off and more than likely he will be buried in it, largely as it is. He does not have children, he has this car. The learnings taken form this car have been folded into a completely new design that he intends / hopes to sell. The new design is far more productionisable as the current car is not something you could ever own unless you built it. The V8s are part of the strategy of enablng other people to own the car i. e. reliable and supportable. I'm not sure about the wheels, but he's done work for all sorts of automotive enterprises and they could have come from anywhere. A lot of the parts are ex race team donations that he's picked up along the way. I should probably create a login for him and he can come in here and speak for himself.
-
Sure. What is your suggestion on how it should be described?
-
Power tuning isn't likely to be required. The attraction of the crate engines from a large manufacturer is reliability and support. They'll have lightened flywheels and twin plate clutches, and I'd assume be retuned to suit the vehicle mass and desired performance characteristics, but otherwise kinda stock.

Current 13bt is around 400hp and runs a Hewland box and welded tubular chassis. New chassis will be folded sheet construction, gearboxes he wants to push the Hewland dogs (possibly sequential with tiptronic option) and engines options are many but the ZR1 Corvette engine and the local 5.0l supercharged Ford engine are possibilities. Atmo V8s are options too. There will be a coupe and roaster option and the new car has a different body and its own custom wheel design. Suspension will be from FPV Falcoons as will be some of the switchgear etc. This gives the durability of OEM bits but put together in a way that is unique. V2 is fully designed but refining model varients to suit target market and budgets is a focus right now. Trying to understand who would pay $100k - $150k in cash for something like this is not easy.
-
Thought this may be of interest to car enthusiasts. Designed and hand built by a friend of mine. It's a one off but is a precursor to a limited production run which will be similar but different. This car is powered by a 13b turbo and weighs next to nothing. It has a H pattern 5 speed dog box and a motorsport chassis, so it's pretty much a race car with plates. V2 will have forced induction V8s, a different chassis construction and a few different transmission options.
-
OK, so this is what the car looks like with a tough set of rims on it. Price dropped to $17k.
-
So, I'm willing to discuss price and once you've seen the car if you want to make a reasonable offer then please feel free to do so. It's like courting though, there is a right way to do it.

Racepace Tein Ra Coilovers R32 Gtr
LotusGTR replied to paulR32gtr's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I've seen these myself and can vouch for their great condition. -
Wine red R33 GTST. Parked up everyday at the Bunning Distribution Centre in Dandenong South. Makes great noises, especially when you hit the rev limiter coming out of the car park. Keep up the good work!

I got pulled over in the UK by a full sized police bus, full of police (no idea what they were up to). I was changing lanes too often for the liking of the police bus driver......I got warned....pretty funny looking back on it.

To the top of the pile.

I got some great passenger laps from a guy in a modified R26R. Fantasitc car and great bloke. Even mailed me a DVD of the laps. Just met him at the RSR garage and he was happy to take me out as much as I had time to do so (he was known to the RSR guys and was a 'safe pair of hands'). The RSR Clio was RHD too and I'd echo all the above comments about caution and not needing another variable like a gearbox to deal with, though I had a manual and found it OK. Definitely want to keep your wits about you. I can't quite remember what I paid but I think all up it was near 1,000 euro. I was very very lucky as the Audi team had their Le Mans cars there and there was a Ferrari FXX, and I followed the the GT3 hybrid into Carousel right on it's rear bar and it bottomed out the whole way through with sparks a flyin. It was a very real experience and I was quite relieved to have done it and handed the keys back to RSR with no further discussions required! I remember a lap where snow was coming in horizontally when the Clio was at top speed on a straight and thinking WTF, and then it all cleared up with the next couple of corners. Anyone else get a Nurburbring sticker from the servo when you filled the rental up at day end? Still haven't stuck one on my car but I reckon I will. Badge of Honour.

I did a day there in a little Renault Clio Cup thingy through RSR. I was delaing with Dale Lomas (English guy) who was great. They also do 'hot laps' in a 996 GT3 RS they have. A couple of the guys I was travelling with did this and said it was great. I was lucky to be there on a private track day so the track was fast and clear (still plenty of crashes - so watch out). Worth asking about this if you have flexibility in your schedule as I'm told the difference is chalk and cheese i.e. line up a private track day date. All the best.

Currently the car is not stored in range of a power point, otherwise yes, this would be the go. Recommendations of good batteries? Or call RACV and have them drop one off?
