Let evolution take its natural course.

Hi all. Just to kick things off I have spent the last 30mins doing some searching on here in to EBCs (electronic boost controllers). Now with my search I found some stuff that confirmed what I already knew. But not a direct answer to the following question. So if its out there, feel free to do the search and post the link to that topic. But I couldnt find it. Anyway question. Will an EBC bring boost on quicker than say a good quality bleed valve. Engine is an RB20, stock turbo, 11-12psi with the bleed valve. R34 sidemount intercooler. And dump pipe back exaust (ie stock dump pipe). Its also got a dr drift chip. The bleed valve I have atm holds 11-12psi pretty good (12psi on a cool night) doesnt spike, is fairly smooth etc. So from what I found out the EBCs work well and solving that, if thats a problem. Which it isnt so I cant justify the cost on that. But if boost can be brought on sooner, say 500rpm sooner then I could see it being worth the money. Just to add to the above my mate has an older hks one that he is willing to sell me. Not 100% sure of the model, but its a bit old.

Fix That Understeer!
dangerous_daveo replied to CEF11E's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
To give you an idea on what I've got is masive sway bars. I'm pretty sure its 1.5mm toe out either side on the front. 2.25 degree front camber there abouts anyway, and its about 8-9degree of castor. The rear has about 1.25 camber, and not sure how much toe in. And I gotta say its pretty much spot on. Front is 365mm from center of wheel to top of wheel arch rear is 355mm for the same. I think there is a little improvement that could be made with just a wisker more camber and castor. But as atm its got as much as it can wound in to it, so its going to cost more money, so Im not going to bother. -
So given really there isnt THAT much difference between the 33 and 34 (other than newer and obviously looks). Why did you sell the R33 and get the evo? For what your going to use the car for, maybe look at something compleatly different? Just a suggestion.

What do you use the car for?

Resin, those pics are pretty old. Its been raised a good 1-2inches at least from then, along with bigger rear tyres. Had a track day in it today. I dont think my pads are very good for the track... Id in fact go to say hopeless! But yeah, even with them stuffed I was catching a modded r32 golf! HAHA! And JUST holding off an S4 audi. Mad fun.

$5000 To Get A Gtr Into The 10`s ?
dangerous_daveo replied to groper's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Does the $5k include the rebuild after you blow it up trying? I dont think it would count if you did a 10.99 with the car blowing up at the 401m mark. But really why bother when you can do it in an old VK or something for $10k including the car Like its 400m, does it really matter what you do it in? Its going to feel pretty much the same. -
No worries Jay. I've actually got a track day on Saturday with my work, so I'll talk to a few of the guys there they might be able to help out in some way with sponsorship or a driver. Worth an ask at least. Not sure what the SAUQld coffers are like atm, but maybe they could help out in someway, fundraiser or something?

By an upgrade to the braking system... good pads, rotors slotted or something, a good brake fluid (something that can handle some heat), and if your really up for it (or the car needs it) some new brake lines, with a preference to braided. There are options for going further than that but you shouldnt need them for a while. But to get some fun out of the car safely, do the above with your brakes. Do the suspension while your at it. Get the engine breathing a bit better, so exaust, split dump pipe, a good filter with cai. Maybe some more boost. And if you can get one a pfc would be a good upgrade, and upgrade the intercooler, as mentioned an R34 standard sidemount would be fine. Then the car will go a bit better, and handel MUCH better. All the while being safer.

Well it was designed for groub B, but they never compeated. The 959s were back in the early 80s, pretty sure that was before the F40s, as ferrari had that other turbo thing which I cant remember the model number of right now. They did use them for dakar tho. And won... Oh and a big high 5 to scathing! haha!

Im not going to be stupid and put my hand up to drive. But do you guys need a hand with anything else? Not saying I can help there either, but if you put up what you need a hand with Im sure some of us might be able to help.

Im not letting the price tag fool me. They are mass produced cars, just a premium brand. Say like a higher end audi, or well even bentlys are really mass produced now. Say you wouldnt spend $6 for a VB, but you would for say a kilkenny still over priced, still made pretty much the same way, and its still a beer. But it does taste a whole lot better. Either way Im preaching to someone who doesnt give a toss. And doesnt understand the point Im getting at. BTW some of those faster porsche laps were done by porsche factory drivers. Im doubting they could get much more out of the car. Also look at how fast the 996 turbo laps to the 997 turbo laps. Then look at the 996 GT3/2 GT3 RS etc laps are, then think how much quicker the 997 versions of those cars are going to be. Then go look at the 959 laps. End of the day, the point of this thread is that old man of whoever started the topic has a few options. And Im pretty sure he will hear nissan, and back away from that option. Just like if you say mitsubishi etc.
-
What?! Just out of interest where did you get those facts from? Because Im fairly sure that gtrs used to be rwd too... and porsche brought out awd (959s) for group b rally... which ended before the 'all mighty' gtrs even came out... Porsche also have a damn impressive streak with lemans 24hour races... (not as good as audi, but they porsche havent compeated every year). But feel free to show me where your facts came from. And Id just like to point out that if you go do some fact finding on who did the laps in the new porcshe, what laps were done in older models, who is doing the laps in the 'new gtr'. And also as the new gtr is only a test model atm, I dont know why you are all thinking its going to just get faster. They will detune it, soften it up, so it doesnt break, and so it sells. End of the day its still 'just a nissan'. Thats the point. Just like a VW phantom 'v' bently flying spur. Its the same car, but one is 'just a VW'.

The dr drift ones are pretty straight forward, I cant remember exactly but I think it was unsolder, re solder, wack it on the dyno to check. From my research they are prob the best way to go. Mine was his 'standard' rb20 chip, so its for basic mods of pod, exaust, bit more boost, fmic. Plugged it in and instantly ruler flat afrs of 12, obviously more power all over, and I get 50kms more from each tank. So Id say try PMing him.
-
Ok But I think your missing the point of what I am saying. You can buy a premium brand car with a proven track record, with german engineering, this that the other. Or you can buy a 'pesents' brand car which stock for stock isnt a better car, for the same money. Put them in a race car situation its a compleatly different story, as they are different cars.

Devina has a truck on its side in her driveway atm. Its rather amusing.
-
How your dad probably sees it... Porsche v's Datsun... which way would you go? Why would he want to spend the same money on a nissan which is a family car with bits added to it to make it go fast and handle. Or a porsche which has been pretty much a benchmark for a sports/super sports car for years and years?

Spotted a flipped over trunk in your driveway! HAHAHA!

Nissan Cefiro For Sale *adelaide*
dangerous_daveo replied to means13's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Pics? Might help! -
I'm starting to get much the same set up in my cefiro (s13 stuff). With the strut tops I previously had the japanese ones on. I did notice a bit of an improvement going to the nolothan tops. Im guessing because we could get a bit more adjustment in there, and the slight added shock travel. That and they obvously arent shagged out like the jap ones were. I couldnt recomend the set up highly enough.

Spacesaver Spare
dangerous_daveo replied to blind_elk's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah dude, its about 60psi. Remember tho they are only designed for a MAXIMUM of 80kmh and usage of 100kms. If you can afford the space, see if you can borrow a proper rim for the time of your holiday maybe? -
