  1. Ahhh ok. Well I got no idea with them. All I know I was always neck to neck with my cefiro and the couple of mates who had them.
  2. Its a 2.5L 4cyl. From memory they are just a single ohc.
  3. My dad has a 2003 model RS. They are quite a nice car. Everything works, is well built. Like its a nice quality of plastics. The seats are comfy. The doors make a nice thud noise when you close them. Bang for buck they are a pretty nice car. And he says you can really notice the awd, even when no where near the limit of the car. And its got a full sized spare wheel! He came from a 96 commodore. So his complaints with the subie are, its lack of power. Its not a big thing, but he says sometimes you really notice it. He has had the car almost 3 years now, and nothing has gone wrong, service intervals at 15000kms, so all good. Id be looking at one for my next car quite seriously.
  4. The fuel pump/filter came up because of people complaining of a miss... Which could be the cause of the miss in some cases. Just to clear that up. But its a fairly valid point Daniel brings up. Why bandaid the problem? Many people are happy to go spend lots of money on other things, new seats, new wheels, new paint, body kits etc. But arent prepaired to fix a problem such as this properly. That said, there are so many vairiables it I would think it makes it fairly tricky to pinpoint the problem on each individuals car.
  5. Ahhh yes they are on restrictions...
  6. Unless you dont drive your car often, or its making spactic amounts of power you dont really want R compound tyres, they are expencive normally noisy, wear quickly, and some of the tread patterns they come in arent all that great in the wet. So for road tyres Id go with the Dunlop Sport Maxx, which is the replacement to the SP9000s. I've got the SP9000s on the front of the car, and the Sport Maxx on the rear. With about 155rwkw, and a 2 way diff in the wet I cant spin 2nd gear unless I clutch dump in the revs. They are a good road tyre. For track days thats where you buy a cheap set of rims (heaps about) and get the good tyres on them. So you only use them when you need to. That said, if your filthy rich, got spastic amounts of power, and or dont drive the car that often, just go R compound
  7. List of mods that I can think of. 'turbo' boost gauge (thats what it says on it) Hardcore racing bleedvalve set at 12psi. R34 side mount intercooler. (which btw bolts right up, no hose changes at all) Malpassi fuel reg set at 32psi at idle (best for responce power, and fuel economy) Bit of 3inch pipe from front bar (hence zippy tie on front bar) to pod, works VERY well. KnN Ms pod (huge bugger) also mesh removed from front and back of AFM. Spun Alloy catch can. Dump pipe back exaust, I 3inch in to 2 big arse mufflers, so its 84db at 4000rpm nice and quiet. Bigger fuel pump, prob GTR. RB25DET gearbox, with redline shockproof oil. GTR flywheel. Jim Berry Carbonic 5puc cluch. Nismo GTR pressure plate (3600lb clamping pressure) Braided clutch line. 2way mech diff. 1990 R32 motor. Dr Drift chipped ecu 155rwkw before the intercooler was installed. Then suspension/handeling. Sydney Kid spec Bilsteins all round, still in adj coilover set up. 350lb front springs, 200lb rear springs. Sydney Kid spec Nolothan front camber and castor adj struttops Adj castor rods. 30mm front sway bar, approx 26mm rear sway bar. Nolthan bushes. 1990 r32 hubs, and brakes. DBA disks, front slotted, lucas high end pads. motul RBF600 brake fluid. Braided brake lines all round. Front strut brace. Custom made alloy 10mm spacers all round with hub ring. Dunlop SP9000s front 215/45/17 Dunlop Sport Maxx rear 235/45/17 Hicas lock kit, and lines removed. ABS half removed. Most importantly is the set up of the above. It all works. Its almost as high as a stock cefiro, but has unbelieveable grip levels. The ride is nice and comfortable, and I dont have to jack it up to do an oilchange. Other stuff. Aircon regassed with the new envro safe stuff. R33 front seats, the upspec trim that came on CA31s (A31s being standard) Updated front and rear lights. Updated front grill. Respray in red (duhhh) and side skirts. Also a front lip was orginally on the car, but as it was about 3inches lower than it is now, it kinda broke. Stereo Eclipse 8455 deck (top model, got all the bells and whistles and sounds AWESOME) MB Quart DSD 213 front splits running of a 2000q cadence amp JL 10inch 10W3v2 running off a 600s coustic amp, still in a prefab box. Sound deadening consitis of! 1x road kill door kit 1x tac mat kit 1x 1/2 focal plain chant kit (ie 2 bricks per door) Acess holes on the front doors filled in with aluminum sealed, and deadened. and fresh made speaker pods. fire extinusher. I'm pretty sure thats it...
  8. Yeah dude, Hindze dam is tiny. That said they are doubleing its capacity. And you guys are getting a de-sal plant. And slapper, there have been a few govts since Goss, so all the people that voted for them as well should be to blame, along with those governments, should the federal govt stepped in? And are any of the other states in a better situation? And Im not for any party either. No govt would have built that dam. I still say had the Australian people woken up a bit earlier we wouldnt be in this problem. As I said we are one of the biggest wasters of water in the world, yet are the driest continent. Something has to give eventually. We should have always been on 'level 3' restrictions, and business should have always been on 'level 5' as that would have been the starting point they could have made a few exceptions for some businesses. The govt didnt step in, and no one was proactive on a large scale. Why do we need the govt to tell us how to do everything? So we are all to blame for our situation. And to the people say ohnos I have to go to carlovers. Seriously go down with your bucket, soap, sponge and $4. If you cant do it for that much there is something wrong with you. $4 isnt going to kill you. If it is, either dont wash the car or sell it.
  9. Well, my total conversion cost about $3400... But that included the box and a jim berry clutch, and the one peice tailshaft, not that that cost much more than getting the standard one modded. So say minus $1400 for the box $1200 for the clutch, mine cost $800 or so, inc the tailshaft, and a few misc bits. But thats also removing the existing box, and he had never done the conversion on a cefiro, so there was a little experimentation time.
  10. That and Australia is one of the highest users of water world wide... The worst drought we have had in years... Australia having one of the highest rates of deforestation... Also... what exactly was that dam engulfing??? Im fairly sure it wasnt an overly deep dam, but covered a lot of surface area. Ie lots of homes, and fairly lush land getting destoryed. Really we haven't had a problem until fairly recently, with the influx of mexicans boarder jumping, and the above its just too much for the system to cope with all at once. But really you cant expect the Govt to account for all of that happening, especially all at once. Lets look at this another way. If we continued to have decent rain, and the govt put all this stuff in, we would be cutting sick, saying why are they wasting the money, we dont need all this stuff that is costing billions of dollars, we have heaps of water, why not spend it on something important... Yet, it hasnt rained, and its now all getting built and everyone is saying its the govt fault for not prediciting all of this, and doing something earlier??? You cant seriously put 100% of the blame on them. I would like to see anyone here do better. Either way, when we do get the good soaking rains (which will need to be a minium 25year flood type rain, as the water table is so low...) things should be fine. A lot of us will have tanks, and water saving devices installed. All business will have all these waterwise systems put in place, which I HIGHLY doubt will change. We will all be better educated. And we will have all these other systems in place. But hey, just my oppinion... I could be wrong... Its a bit like the roads... But thats another story for another day.
  11. Go at night time. Its better for your cars paint at that hour anyway.
  12. You still have to use buckets tho... But everyone, the water restrictions are in for a very serious reason. Without trying to start the debate again... Yes govt to some degree is to blame, but they simply can not make the dams full over night. So we all have to suck it in, and try and adbide by the restrictions. Otherwise we wont have any water to DRINK. I personally am quite partial to the odd glass of water. I find it keeps me alive. Anyway, I went down to carlovers at about 8pm on Saturday nite, washed my car. Cost me $4. $1 to to the first rinse, $1 to fill up my bucket. Then $2 to rinse it off all the suds, which next time I should be able to cut down to $1. Its really not that much of a hassel.
  13. I give the tread 2 days before its locked
  14. Some dude in a silver R32 with the sau stickers on the rear 1/4 windows, at springwood about 2pm today. I was in my dads liberty... So he wouldnt beep...
  15. So without starting a new topic, I've got a few track days coming up and rather than hiring a helmet I thought buy one. So what I found out (from the dude at revoultion racegear) that for just general track days, hire karts, and test n tune days at willowbank etc a fiberglass helmet is fine. What he was saying is to make sure #1 it has the aust standard (which yeah might be diff to cams approval, but not all tracks are cams) then the next thing he said to make sure it has is the Snells approval. So from what you guys know, is that what I should be looking for? It was about $200, and a motorbike shop had something similar for $260ish mark.
  16. Name: David, but I'll also answer to Dave, Dave-o and on many an occasion OI YOU! Location: Browns Plains area Car: Cefiro MSN: [email protected]
  17. And thats so difficult, thats why they invented syncros So really, just dont shift to first on the roll. You really shouldnt need to in a street car on the street. If your driving instructor/dad taught you that, then no offence they are just wrong. If your going that slow you should have to stop.
  18. This is seriously gold. At least if you are going to argue, do it in a fashion that people can understand. Either way Mr Series 11. I really dont want to ever see you on this forum saying imports or skylines get picked on, or other people give them a bad name rah rah. As you would appear to be one of those people!
  19. $1200!!! Made of carbon and balanced to 400kmh??? Far out some people think they can have a lend. I guess mine did have problems at first, and in the end they had to pay to put the better unis on not me, which I would have had no problems paying in the first place, but as they say thats the way the cock flops.
  20. Dude, isnt it rude to say how old he is? Cause like, thats old. Happy Birthday tho dude.
  21. Wow, you got mates rates then?
  22. Just adding to what Gary has said. The way I would do things is find out what is wrong/needs replacing first. Dont replace anything at this stage. At this stage you then need to work out a plan of attack. On what you need to change with standard, and what needs to be upgraded to achive what you want to. I've seen some people go oh its broke, fix it. Then 2 months later throw it out as they didnt plan out their modifcations properly. Then the modding also costs more than it needed to. You get angry with the car costing so much etc.
  23. Man thats exxy for the tailshaft, unless they used some real nice unis. Mine was only about $350. I asked about doing the electronic speedo thing, seemed like far too much hard work, and WAY too much money. If your doing it yourself it might not be so bad. But seriously my navara $22 speedo drive with the R33 cog works a treat, its about 5kms out at 100kms which I think given all the other things changed with the car is pretty darn good.
  24. So off topic, where are the pics now your car has been resprayed? Erin said it looks realllllly nice. Now back on topic. What might help a few people is SDT and a few other companys run driver training track days. Where they teach you how to drive properly round a track etc. They arent too badly priced, like they are more than a normal track day, but then you do have someone in the car teaching you what you should and shouldnt be doing. Might help a few people get in to it more.
  25. Just saw Dave up near stoners corner. I was in my mums pulsar, or my sisters... I look at it as the spare car. Either way I spotted you.
